And this was the last good star wars movie disney made that for the main trilogys everything after this except rouge one SUCKS

Dale Cooper

I want her to react to the Bad Lip Reading and Weird AL star wars songs.

Lucas_oreki

Alicia will be the one that will make me rewatch these movies for the first time. I still remember when Episode VII came out and my dad drove to the cinema with me and two school friends, all wearing selfmade cosplays with lightsabers. Cant say we left the cinema very satisfied after

Gorotsuki

Ya .. Kylo gets a bit cooked when fighting Finn and Rey in sabers CUZ he handicaps himself like a BUM .. he tries to imitate Vader to a fault .. Vader used 1 hand to fight and during his saber fights he TRIES to use one hand .. chances are he was trained in a more traditional form using both hands during saber combat

Lance Ivy

fun fact thats annies light saber .....its killed so many children

Lance Ivy

a bowcaster is a very strong wepon to just tank in the gut

Kawaii Edgelord

The thing that bugs me the most is that lightsabers before this movie if they hit they cut something off, in this one multiple people got hit to get seared but with no serious damage.

Runiic

Ah, the start of the most controversial trilogy of the star wars movies. Personally while I mostly feel like it doesn't anything too egregious it just doesn't have the same passion in the characters or the story that the previous films do. I mostly end up forgetting everything that happens in this movie in particular due to how safe it plays everything, I can only assume it was to help set up the following movies but it's still sad to see. The only real thing I remember about this movie is thinking Kylo Ren and Finn are the characters with the most potential and that Chewbacca should've been the one with Leia at the end and the fact he wasn't really irritates me.

Jesse Sherrell

Yeah the issue with the sequel trilogy is that they didn't have a very clear direction for the story and the writing suffers because of it. Episode 7 is the best of the sequels IMO and that's not even saying much when you consider the fact that it basically just reused the story beats from Episode 4.

Patrick McIntyre

John Boyega is so amazing, please watch Attack the Block. I'm pretty sure it was his first major film and it's still so good.

13:21 The stormtroopers ARENT clones. When the empire forms at the end of ep3, the empire stop the production of clones and force the clones out of militar forces, making sure they get spread all across the galaxy so they dont unite against the empire. Then, most of the Republic army and the separatists become stormtroopers and they opened empire academy's to train new soldiers which are kinda 'brainwashed' into it. Since ep4, they are just soldiers, not clones, which explain why they have such bad aiming compared to clones (helmet design failure is also a Con against the aim, they even make jokes of it on some of the tvshows)

Faroth

19:45 And you still need to meet C1-10P, a.k.a. Chopper, the best droid, older and angrier, and sassier 😅🤣😂 (rebels show) For 2nd or 3rd season, YOU end up understanding what that little bastard says

EnderSlayer366

1:49:05 Han's "That's not how the force works" is one my favorite memes out of Star Wars because it so accurately describes the sequel trilogy and all its lore-breaking goofiness. Still quote that one to this day completely out of the context of Star Wars. Also, completely unrelated, Poe Dameron is absolutely a main character. He was established in the opening crawl as the best pilot in the Resistance, the movie started with him, and he was the one to blow up Starkiller Base. Poe is very cool, throughout the trilogy he's probably the most consistently strong character. Finn and Rey also had good setup but tbh it's such a missed opportunity to have Finn, a defected Storm Trooper, not become a Jedi. The concept art designs for what he would've looked like are awesome. Rey did not chop Kylo's arm off, she sliced the lightsaber in half, hence why it immediately stopped lightsabering Fun Fact: Harrison Ford hates Han Solo, he hates when he's interviewed about him, and he hates how many times he's had to come back and play him. To him, Han was just another paycheck, and if he had his way, Han would never have made it past A New Hope. It's a miracle it took this long for him to die lol but yeah one of the main complaints about the sequels is Rey so you two are not alone, though the chemistry of the main 3 gets great later on, regardless of the quality of surrounding events

Jimmy Recinos

All imma say is I love the actors in these next three, this movie was the first and I thought it was good enough (not good as the older ones besides the phantom menace and episode 5)

Maxxman

Problem with this was Rey was a Mary Sue. She can fly the falcon better than we have ever seen despite never leaving a planet, she can repair the falcon immediately better than both chewy and han, which is idiotic. She can use obi wan jedi mind jutsu immediately. She has zero training by the way in any of these things, not even a trainer which is why this movie gets hate. Crazy thing is this movie is the least egregious of the new trilogy when it comes sucking

Faroth

Sad fact: carrie fisher died after filming ep8, so is like the universe using a UNO reverse card, they killed the character of Han Solo and let Leia live, but then Carrie died so we cant have leia anymore Also, i recomend watching Rogue One too, is unrelated to the trilogys even when is already stated how it happened since ep4, but is related to the tvshows, specially to 'Rebels'

EC

Sad thing is, back when all the promotional material came out, it was heavily implied fin would be the main character and a jedi, and then the movie came out and it was all just misdirection.

Pirate King Buggy D. Clown

Hopefully she notices the underlying racism in the empire and how their mostly human looking

ItzNack

Clones werent continued for long after the 3rd movie, most stormtroopers are human

Aaron

Thank you

Moviejunkie

This was ok, but you can already see that it’s all down hill from here.

Rowdeemunkee

And so Disney takes over :( l There's some good stuff, Rogue One and Andor to name a couple. But overall I can't say im a fan of the story telling they do

Rowdeemunkee

I enjoy alot about this movie, but to this day it feels like the script is a bad fan fiction with Rey as the self insert. Acting, visuals, and chemistry between the characters was all tip notch though.

Sancturillore -- Élie Simard-Wallot

The reason for the Rule of Two for the Sith is because it concentrates the power of the Dark Side on only 2 people, making them more powerful. ALSO, the system of the Rule of Two was designed in a way (along with a sith ritual) to make it so that every Sith Apprentice kills their master, gain all the accumulated Dark Side power of their master (transferred to them when the master dies to them), and then take an apprentice of their own, and the cycle continues. This went on for 1000 years. This is the reason why the current Sith have so much raw power. This is why Palpatine's master was able to manipulate life and bring the dead back to life with the force (he experimented on his own master, killing him, reviving him, killing again, reviving him again, etc.). Palpatine never learned the life manipulation techniques, but he still got the raw force power of his master when he killed him in his sleep after making him drunk. The reason the apprentice can also become close to the power of the master is that the master becomes a sort of beacon of the dark side, so being around does help growing stronger in the dark side. Before the Rule of Two was made, there were as many Sith as there were Jedi, aka a lot of them. Because of that, Siths were on average at the same level of power as Jedi on average.

The_Spud_Player

Tbf Rey has grown up scavenging and dismantling empire tech/ships and stuff, like there's probably a lot of crossover in design between empire and new order tech and a mechanical mind can figure out stuff even if the aesthetics may look different, so it makes sense she kinda knows what to yank on to make things work or break.

The_Spud_Player

I literally just noticed that Rey starts wearing Finn/Poe's jacket when they go blow up the oscillator which means Finn must've given it to her to keep her warm, that's SO cute.

Vetrais

So when Finn rescued Poe, I think you missed the rest of the exchange because you were discussing it already. The "because it's the right thing" was kind of an empty justification. He further admitted it was because he needed a pilot, implying that the rescue was primarily because he couldn't fly the ship, and might not have done it if he didn't need Poe's help to escape.

Chronos Hoffman

Holy shit I forgot how incompetent and sloppy the portrayal of the first order is… Especially after coming from the first six and then rogue one…

Vetrais

Could you imagine a drinking game for every time either of them said "hey, this is like ___ scene" or "___ did that in the last movies" or some variation of those themes.

FellwindXCII

Yeah honestly Kylo shoulda dogwalked Rey and the fact they just copped it out to MC plot armor really disappointed me.

Mister Vorland

Gonna have to fight back, but Han needed to die. As someone who hates nostalgia bait, I went into this movie expecting them to drag along characters from the previous franchise just to lure people into the theaters because they weren't confident in their own writing. As someone who grew up watching the prequels, one of the main complaints I heard from others (as well as my own thoughts) was the ham-fisted way they crammed some characters into them just so that people could point to the screen and say "look, it's that guy." Killing off a previous main character in order to make room for a new generation was the right call, whether or not it was executed correctly is up for debate, and even I flip-flop on it from time to time, but that move gave me at least a little bit of hope that they were at least brave enough to try something different and not lean on the previous cast (even if this movie was basically a shot-for-shot remake of A New Hope)

Petter Uppvall

clone troopers were retired after the clone wars.

TjAlien

clone troopers are not the same as stormtroopers. Clones are just that, while stormtroopers were primarily volunteers and conscripts.

Aphelion Audio

storm troopers have always just been regular people

Daisy Azuras

Poe is supposed to be a fully realized version of wedge antillies

Daisy Azuras

Harrison Ford demanded that Han Solo die in this movie he didn’t really want to do a bunch more of these movies, but he did want to at least end the character on his terms

Daisy Azuras

All of the complaints that they are making at the end of this movie are valid complaints that continue on through the series of these movies. they are caused by Disney executives reading fan reactions and then forcefully tailoring. The movies going forward based on those reactions rather than telling a coherent story so in a way, the fandom is responsible for the mess that comes from these movies because we all wanted our head cannons to be true rather than allowing a storyteller to tell us a continuous cohesive story

Lenard Starks

My biggest complaint is the lightsabers feel less like swords and more like bats

Kinji

Harrison Ford set killing off Han as a requirement for him returning for Ep7 because he felt it was a necessary part of Han's arc in the story. Well before any talk of sequels he had expressed a wish that Han had been killed off in the original trilogy.

Ben Gross

The franchise really went downhill after this movie, the 8th one was Horrible, rushed script, fight scenes sucked, I was so glad I didn’t waste money to go see it in theaters

Jason Ramey

In the extended lore that Disney came in and threw out as if it was trash rather than treasure, centuries before the prequels the Sith used to be a massive organization just as large as the old jedi order. But they were constantly getting in their own way through infighting. After a particularly severe collapse the rule of two was implemented to limit such issues. But it was always more of a guideline than an actual rule. At no point in known Star Wars history has there ever actually been only two sith in the galaxy. At best they limited it to two per nefarious organization.

CatGod101

just a friendly reminder that all those storm troopers are child soldiers anyway enjoy their deaths

Oouga

If it comforts you in any way, Harrison Ford had wanted to have Han killed at the end of Empire Strikes Back, then again during Return of the Jedi. They kept denying him. So, he refused to come back unless they killed Han Solo in this one.

Michael

I forgot how much I hated this movie! I last saw it when I was a early teen. 🤣

Immeasurably Me

I saw this movie twice in theaters. Had an amazing time. While the weakest trilogy they are nowhere near as bad as people pretend

Noah Weathers

There are ALWAYS going to be Sith in one form or another. The Jedi have discovered in age after age that it is virtually IMPOSSIBLE to completely root out the Dark Side, just as the Sith cannot completely eradicate the Jedi. That’s the cycle that keeps repeating throughout galactic history. Both organisms are repeatedly destroyed and reborn in a different form. Palpatine came the very closest to completely erasing the Jedi via Order 66, Anakin’s betrayal and a subsequent purge of all Jedi that lasted until a couple years before A New Hope. The closest the Sith have ever been to being eradicated was the seventh battle of Ruusan, where Darth Bane deliberately arranged the annihilation of the latest Sith organization, the Brotherhood of Darkness, in a nightmarish Force ritual. That was where Bane himself initiated the Rule of Two, creating the Master-Apprentice chain we see in the movies. The Sith adapted, and threw down the Jedi, the Jedi returned the favor when Anakin was redeemed and killed Palpatine, now the Sith have reemerged within the First Order. They will take on yet another form down the road, and that’s the POINT. The battle between Good and Evil never truly ends. It just changes over the ages.

Noah Weathers

The clone army was subsequently phased out following the demise of the Republic and the creation of the Empire. In Legends, the Kaminoans started an uprising with a new clone army, which was swiftly crushed by Imperial forces led by Boba Fett. The Emperor subsequently recruited a new army as the Stormtroopers, though they were NEVER able to achieve the same success rate as the Clones, which is why they suck and miss shots all the time. In the new canon, the phasing out of clones is an ongoing topic being explored by The Clone Wars, Rebels and The Bad Batch, though elements of the original Kaminoan rebellion appear to have been retained.
