Fun Fact: When the grinch was being a director for max, in that scene that was actually the director of the movie acting as the grinch instead of jim carrey.

Jim Carey’s Grinch and Max are one of the best man and his dog duos up there with Scooby & Shaggy and Dick Dastardly & Mutley. I will say I’m glad they decided not to drink every time someone said “The Grinch”, because they’d have no Livers afterwards. Also, fun fact: the guy who originally sang the “You’re A Mean One Mr. Grinch” song was Thurl Ravencroft who among other things voiced Tony the Tiger and did the singing voice for the Goblins/Orcs in the Rankin and Bass Hobbit and Return of the King cartoons.

I heard recently that Jim Carrey said it was like being buried alive to sit in the make-up chair and during shooting for the Grinch. That they had to bring in a guy that trains CIA ops to endure torture. He said that the Bee Gees was the only thing that help get him through it.

I like how they handled Grinch's heart growing in this. Usually when a change of heart (literally in this case) happens, they make the character throw away almost everything of their old personality as a kind of "growth". But in this he's still a sassy jerk, but now he has it in him to care and see the good around him. It was a small thing but I really appreciate it.

For the last 10 years or so my friend group has had a group chat that we labeled "Grinchmare Before Christmas" and we exclusively post Grinch gifs and memes from this movie all December. I started this tradition at a boring family party I texting them instead.

This movie really frustrates me. The moment at the end when he learns the true meaning of Christmas is legitimately acted so well. "Maybe Christmas, perhaps, means a little bit more..." Always has me tearing up... and then they had to ruin it with the over the top screaming and gaffing to the camera and destroying a legitimately beautiful scene.

Fun little detail about the tablecloth pulling scene, he was just supposed to pull the tablecloth off and let everything go flying, but they used this take of Carrey performing this trick and improvising instead, and it makes it so much funnier. Best part of this fact: This was the first take of that scene

okay, unlike how i remembered this movie back when i saw it in theaters, i dont mind anything so far except for the constant sean connery voice that jim carrey kept using here. but i suppose it still fits fine

Jim Carrey's version of "You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch" is my only real problem with this movie, because it's like he's singing it directly into his sinuses. Then again, it's hard to top Thurl Ravenscroft's velvety-thicc baritone.
