Fun Fact: this episode "Shanghaied" actually premiered with multiple endings the viewers could vote on, the other two being Patrick or Squidward getting the final wish (both ending with the Flying Dutchman eating the three of them).

So, here's some fun facts about these episodes: #1: When 'Shanghaied' first aired, it was part of a special called 'You Wish!' that had a gimmick where, if you called the provided number, you'd get to vote on who the Dutchman gives the third wish to. There were Patchy segments that explained it, opened/closeed the voting, declared the winner, etc. Of course, SpongeBob won in most places (including the US), so that's the ending that is used on the standard DVD releases. Any footage/audio addressing the vote was then removed from most subsequent airings, with exception to things such as special rereleases on DVD sets (and even *those* replace the phone number wih a cute little message that reads "Yikes matey! Original 800 number as aired has been retired to Davy Jones' locker!") or Latin American reruns (at least, that's what the Wiki says). However, there's still *one* remnant of the vote that got left in the revised episode: the *absurd* number of telephones that are scattered throughout Patchy's house (which were used for gags during the voting process). #2: While the endings for Squidward or Patrick receiving the wish were both released in 2002 (and of course, SpongeBob's ending just *happens* to be the one the writers put the most effort into), the clips of Patchy *revealing* them as the winners were considered lost media for a while. We had access to the footage because, as I mentioned earlier, those endings aired in Latin America. But because those are in Spanish, the English audio was lost media — that is, until it got leaked in 2023. #3: In June 2024, another leak provided us with an hour and fourteen minutes of raw audio from the actors' line readings of 'Shanghaied'. This includes fun stuff such as bloopers, Patrick's "leedle leedle leedle lee"s being ad-libbed, and Tom Kenny swearing in his SpongeBob voice. #4: 'Gary Takes a Bath' is the only episode (so far) to only use a single voice actor, that being Tom Kenny as SpongeBob/Gary. Mr. Krabs appears briefly, but he has no lines. This, however, is not the least amount of VA's in an episode; that would be Episode 1b, "Reef Blower", which featured none of the VA's (just some stock noises such as whistling or gasping for breath). #5: In 'Gary Takes a Bath', as SpongeBob is showing Gary the quote-unquote 'Treasure Chest', he shows off two bars of soap and proclaims with a wink: "Look, doubloons! Don't drop 'em...." This joke references the phrase "don't drop the soap", which refers to a commonly-believed rumor about prison that, if you drop a bar of soap in the communal showers, your inmates will likely harass or take advantage of you as you bend down to pick it back up. (I feel the need to re-emphasize: this is just a commonly-believed *rumor* about prison, and *not* a proven fact/statistic.)

Btw once you finish a series another good one would be a netflix original anime called Scissor Seven. So far it has 4 seasons with the 5th one being worked on right now. Its originally in chinese but the english dub is ACTUALLY really good. Its mainly comedy but it also has action and some serious moments which are handled really well. I really enjoy it and i think you would too. You probably will never see this comment but i thought i should take my shot anyways :D

That perfume department joke will remain to me as the single most hilarious bit i've ever seen in my life. if i had the chance to rewind the episode, i would watch that scene non stop and laugh just as hard 🤣🤣
