I dont think alicia forgot about it, but luffy already fought someone who can precict attacks this far: Enel in skypiea (mantra = haki) And enel was viceadmiral-level power who lost just because he didnt know about color of arms haki and didnt know about rubber being inmune to electricity

Fun fact, we've actually seen Katakuri's trick before: during the Marineford War, Whitebeard stabbed Aokiji/Kuzan/Ice Man, and the Marines were freaking out, since Whitebeard was using Armament Haki, only for Aokiji to tell them to calm down, and we see ice swirling around Whitebeards Naginata.

It's kinda funny how in the previous episode Katakuri said he wasn't underestimating Luffy... only to step away for teatime and snacks after he had ASSUMED he had put Luffy in a situation where he couldn't escape death. If that isn't textbook "underestimating your opponent", I don't know what is.
