Nah, the Punisher put one bullet into the chamber of the gun, and Daredevil used that bullet to break his chains. It wasn’t unloaded the whole time.

Fun Fact: In the comics when he was first created, Punisher was originally a Vietnam vet, but since comics want to keep him the same age he has been put in more recent conflicts to be more compatible with his age, so a more modern version of Punisher meeting a Vietnam Marine vet was a nod and tribute to Punisher’s original roots.

This is one of my favourite Daredevil episodes of all time, not just because of the hallway fight scene but because of the writing. The dichotomy between Punisher and Daredevil, their resolves and outlooks just contrast each other so well. I was really looking forward to Alicia watching this one... in case anyone's wondering the reference Claire makes to someone she helped in the hospital is actually Luke Cage - it was part of the Jessica Jones storyline (another Netflix show). I don't know whether Alicia will do The Defenders, or if she'll jump straight into Season 3 - but I can't wait to see.

I think both Punisher and Daredevil are right. World needs people like Daredevil who believe in redemption, to inspire the people who think they’re too far gone that they can always get back up again because there’s so many times people only need a friend to believe in them in order to try again. At the same time, we need people like the Punisher to show the monsters they will not be tolerated, appeased. When the wolves attack the sheep, we need the shepherd to put the wolf down.

"The gun was unloaded the whole time..." No, he said so himself, there was one round in the cylinder. That's just how hardcore Punisher is, he was willing to die to prove himself right. Daredevil just tried to take a third option and used that round to shoot the chains binding him, didn't work-out for Grotto though.

Beans waiting for this. One issue I do have with this show is that its too dark. Literally. In a lot of the scenes its hard to make things out and while it does often use darkness for great effect in shots, it also has scenes where its just too dark for no reason and hard to see.

It is something to note that Punisher doesn't really have a retort for Matt's claim that he's insane. He just resorts to knocking him out, which in my eyes, is him conceding that point to Matt.

This epsiode may be my favorite piece of marvel content. Matt and Frank on the roof debating their philosophies followed by one of the best (fake) one shots i have ever seen. Season 3 is better than 2 overall imo, but this is the best epsiode

Okay, so when Claire is talking about another, stronger friend, that's a reference to events in another Marvel TV show called Luke Cage, also originally by Netflix, and set in Harlem as opposed to Daredevil's Hell's Kitchen. If you do end up watching The Defenders, I would recommend watching season 1 of Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and Jessica Jones, as those shows set up the events of The Defenders. Season 2 of Daredevil ends right before The Defenders season 1, so you're safe, but I would still watch those other shows first for more context. Idk how or if you're planning on watching Defenders, but thought I just give a heads up. I think you should, given how the ending of Defenders leads directly into S3 of Daredevil, so you kinda *need* to watch defenders to know what the hell's going on at the beginning of S3. Btw, S1 of Luke Cage came out before season 2 of Daredevil. I'm sorry if you consider this spoilers, honestly not trying to, just trying to help you get more lore.

Little fun fact about Jon Bernthal (the punisher) Him and Tom Holland made each others. Audition tapes for the punisher and spiderman respectively. They were both working on the same movie and became friends and filmed each other’s auditions to send in. Jon knew how crazy athletic Tom was so he was the one who suggested he should do some crazy backflip into the audition scene, saying that he is probably the only one that could actually do that shit. And with the recent news that punisher is gonna be in the new spider man film I’m fkin hyped

New yorkers went crazy when the actor for punisher jon bernthal went to comic stores in new york buying punisher comics to learn the character, and they were insane for the character telling him he better not fuck it up lol. he's such a good punisher

Yeah, the gun taped to Daredevil's hand was loaded, but Frank made sure it was only loaded with one bullet and told Daredevil that as well. The reason for the single bullet, besides ensuring that Daredevil couldn't use the other bullets on various targets besides Frank and Grotto, is that it was the one chance Frank was giving Daredevil. He had to make a choice between shooting Frank or Grotto, because anything else would be pointless since Frank would still kill Grotto. If he shot Frank's gun from his hand, it just means Frank would have lost 1 gun compared to the other guns and various weapons he could've used to kill Grotto. One shot in the gun, one opportunity to choose between shooting Frank and saving Grotto, or shooting Grotto instead of Frank. Matt also only threatened the bikers with the gun BECAUSE he knew there weren't anymore bullets. If it were still loaded, I doubt he'd risk pointing it at anyone, even if they were a criminal.

Fun fact about the scene on the roof is it’s based off a comic. In the comic daredevil shoots at frank but finds that the gun is unloaded. I honestly prefer the show version because it makes both characters more badass. Daredevil takes the third option by shooting the chains and knocking out punisher and take him. And punisher in the show is literally ready to die to prove his point by handing Matt a loaded gun.

As many others probably are, my position on Matt and Frank’s debate is naturally, somewhat in between their positions. Yes, Punisher has a sad point that there are too many people who simply will not mend their ways, who will NEVER stop hurting people. And too often, the only way to keep them from hurting even more people is to put them down. But I am closer to Matt’s point of view than his. Everyone does deserve at least ONE chance to turn things around. They may not take that chance, but the important thing is to at least TRY, to give them that opportunity. Succumbing to the darkness and cruelty of the world and convincing yourself that nothing matters is the ultimate self-defeating argument. If all you look for is the misery and hate in people, that’s all you will ever find. It takes strength to rise above that, to be the bigger person and try to help instead of just adding more pain.

Honestly Canada's health care system is fucked up even compared to the US. I don't trust any system that thinks MAID is in anyway a good idea and allows patients to bleed out just because they didn't get to the hospital earlier

So many inherent issues with framing the old woman story as normal or a problem. First she won't need specialist help, so can be pushed through faster and much easier and this helps things, and has no impact on others needing more specialist help even though she might be in and out faster. Second, an old woman falling is a major problem, I have witnessed the typical situation in person where it was a fall and seemed minor with the woman saying it was nothing. She was checked fully for a reason, and internal damage with no obvious sign was actually quite bad, she was admitted for 2 weeks in the end.
