I'm going to be honest this ending kinda jumped the shark for me, I'm glad the baby survived but crypto bros heel turn at the end dumb ass fuck and felt really forced, and those VIPs were too insufferable to survive in the end, and the whole boat side plot was such a waste of time, lil bro did nothing in the end

Sean Cruz

Bro this ending is mid. Probably not going to watch the U.S spinoff if it gets made

RenderCorps

Really bittersweet, didn't care for the ending but I still love the series itself

Wizardmn5

Dammit, I haven't logged onto Patreon in a few days and also haven't had a chance to watch the new season and I'm pretty sure this thumbnail just spoiled me. T_T It's okay, though... I did it to myself... ;_;

Pain LaBaguette

for me the US thing just confirmed that it's an international thing and that 456 or the officer couldn't do antyhing because it's just waaay to huge for them to handle. I kinda liked the way it ended, showing us that there was never a possible really good ending.

DragonPup

Season 3 started strong but ran out of gas after 222 died. The American version is apparently being directed by David Fincher which has me interested enough to give it a shot.

SweedJeez

I have some hope for the US version with David Fincher directing it, but having the main series ending on a teaser for the spin-off feels very lame on top of all the unresolved/unsatisfying plot points. Hopefully, In-Ho and the detective come back in one of the new series because that 1 minute stare-off after being on a boat for 10 episodes straight was not satisfying at all.

Kazukima

They can only save the American version if they invite Mr.Beast.

Yovan_Night

Holy spoiler on the thumbnail, bro. This is just like how the title of the episodes in one piece are😞

Yovan_Night

Bro, the thing with the MG coin dude is genuinely just bad writing. He’s killed for the possibility of being there for that baby along with the other girl (I forgot her name, but the mother to the baby). It seems so out of character for him to 180 now. Maybe I just don’t understand his character, but I really don’t think he would do something like that.

Thinkace

god damn that thumbnail just spoiled it ffs xD

Accel

Thanks for the reaction Alicia, honestly, the beginning of the second game introduced some really great characters, but it feels like they were wasted throughout the story and killed off too quickly instead of being used for the final game, there was also no closure for the characters at all. On top of that, I hate the idea of making an American version...

Accel

Another thing, all the planning over all this time to go to the island and put an end to the games ended up being completely pointless. I was hoping the detective would at least do something, but they didn’t do anything at all. They just went on with their lives, and that whole storyline was simply dropped.

Markus

danm you thumbnail it just spoiled it

Isac christensen

I am too emotional to form in opinion right now :)

EliteEdge

Alicia, respectfully, that thumbnail was the wrong choice. I came on here to check for One Piece and had thankfully finished Squid Game already but that would have been one heck of a spoiler since I needed to scroll past it to see the other recent uploads. Hoping in the future you’re a little more careful with the thumbnail selection please.

Once the armed revolt failed this was the only way it could’ve ended. Remember that this show is supposed to be a commentary on Korean history and society; How could our protagonists ever end this cycle of exploitation when the people of South Korea haven’t yet freed themselves of the exploitative system that these games feed off of? So long as our society continues to create poverty and desperation in the people living under it then the Squid Game will always have players; and so long as we continue to let monstrous sociopaths get disgustingly rich off of other people’s labor then there will always be more VIPs to fund it.

PurportedGrey

As much as I hate milking IPs like they are gonna do with the American spin off, I have high hopes for it since David Fincher is in charge of it.

AnonDex

Yess, alicia binge watch and more content for us

DrOverbuild8363

Well that sucks. Was really hoping it would have a satisfying ending where the games are fully exposed, the VIPs are punished for funding and enjoying them, and the games were put to an end. But of course that's to strong of an ending for a popular IP that can be milked for all its worth. I mean they could still keep it going after such an ending through other more interesting plot means. Like someone incredibly wealthy finds out about the Squid Games after they were ended forever and tries to start their own. Maybe bring in a multiverse plot line where the games are occurring on a future where they can make things more interesting by somehow involving other realities. Or just an alternate timeline where the games follow a different cultures kid games or something. But I guess if they did any of those variations, other than the first one, it wouldn't be as grounded to reality and might not have the same tension because of that. Still would've been better than this.

Azel !!

Of course 333 acted this way. Nobody is pure good or pure bad, anyone would prioritize themselves especially if there was that much money on the line. He didn't have aconnection with gi-hun so wouldn't make sense for him to sacrifice himself, and he does not have the same experiences so why would he not kill the baby but himself? Also, use context clues or pay attention to dialogue. The whole airport scene was not that deep, the broker was there so of course the Mom came from the north, and he meant someone will pick the guard up in China, not there.

Azel !!

Just cause you don't like the ending doesn't mean it's bad. Mc died, the father and daughter survived, the guard found a purpose and went off to find her daughter, the detective didn't get closure with his brother but at least could "end" the games since the island got blown up, the brother from S1 reunited with his Mom, gi-hun's daughter got the news and the gangsters are about to turn a new leaf as hotel managers. The rich guys did not get caught and are still at large cause it would not be realistic if they got caught and actually had to face consequences. It's not a perfect ending but it did tie up the character endings.

Noel

I feel like there was too much things in this ending, it would be better if they ended with detective getting baby and the card.

jdoggivjc

I can't believe thaey got Cate freaking Blachett to be the Recruiter for the American version of the game in the final scene of the series.

Spicy Noodles

what the fuck is this thumbnail dawg

Spicy Noodles

One of the most important aspects of storytelling is actually quite simple, you're not always owed answers. Ambiguity and dissatisfaction keep the story going, especially when there's more story to tell. The ending was great for the Korean version but people expecting 2 bros and a dream to somehow expose a potentially multi BILLION DOLLAR operation alone. lets be real, brutal unfairness and indifference of life. it'll take more than just determination. Gi-hun literally paid the price for CLINGING TO THAT VERY IDEAL.

It's The Quenchiest!

Respectfully Alicia, this thumbnail was NOT it, even if we wanted to argue this was the obvious conclusion.

I do wish Myung-gi was given more time to show his potential rottenness, but I feel they telegraphed that he was a self-serving scumbag while giving him the chance to potentially be redeemed. He abandoned his pregnant girlfriend, and it didn't take much convincing at all for him to slaughter people for money. I believe he would have done whatever he could to save the baby, but it works for me because it creates a dichotomy between someone who would protect another person's baby with his life and a person who would choose himself over his own child. Myung-gi is what In-ho believes a human is, and Gi-hun is what humans can be. It wasn't a perfect execution, but I overall thought it was pretty good. As far as arc go, I actually think Min-su's was fantastic; I expected that we'd see Min-su rise to the moment and be a more proactive person, but this story is more realistic than that. He entered the games a codependent coward who constantly relied on other people to survive, choosing strength over loyalty when he picked Nam-gyu and Thanos over Se-mi. He gets his moment when he kills Nam-gyu, but after that, he's just drifting through life. Revenge didn't actually heal him, the only thing that healed him was accepting that he was to blame for Se-mi's death. EDIT: My thoughts on the ending is that it's somewhat weak, but I do believe that most loose threads have been addressed. I think No-eul's quest for her child is open-ended, and In-ho's future actions are up in the air, but Jun-ho I feel has allowed himself to be free of his brother for the sake of the baby, 246 gets to raise his daughter in peace, and Gi-hun was finally able to provide for his daughter. It was an overall unsatisfying ending IMO, but I think that, at least with Gi-hun and No-eul, it was handled well.
