I've seen a lot of criticism of how they handled the death, as in putting too much focus on it, but I personally think its handled with the respect it deserves, getting an actor to replace him wouldve been way worse.

I don't really agree that recasting an actor who passed away is in poor taste. I think ideally you weigh your options and either write them out or recast based on what makes the most sense in any given situation. Ultimately it is a job and just a role they are playing, not like digitally recreating a dead actor's likeness, which feels kind of morbid. I feel like a recast would have been better in this case because I think the character still had a lot of things going on. But either way it would have been jarring because I really liked the actor.

My only real complaint with it is that the timeskip it forced was a real comedown from the cliffhanger ending of season 1

A lot of enbies don't really consider themselves trans. Being enby myself, I kiiiinda think that stuff like that is internalized transphobia, but also I'd never say that to anybody about why they don't ID as trans, even if I think it's a matter of systemic abuse, it's not the word they wanna use, and just take them at their word.
