WOOOO! LET'S GOOOOO!

Fei Ashtear

Oh man, been looking forward to this

YukoValis

To be honest I didn't care too much for the series compared to the others. Loki will always be peak in these TV series. I really liked Hawkeye except that garbage ending. This one was a bit hit and miss into the weeds, but it certainly had some good fights. Also yeah it is required watching. You made watching it so much more fun.

Lukundra

This series does Sam and Bucky so dirty as characters.

Legionistuc

Note to all homes, wingman is now an offensive term

Faroth

I kinda like the topics they touch in this series, from the "black captn america" to the "the world wanted us because they needed people in their countries and then they dont so we are now hated again" Is very realistic if you think about it

DrakeNoAubrey

ooohhhh cant wait for next episode

LeRezwarrior

As usual Alicia the Goat. Refreshing to see someone understanding John than immediately hating. I had a feeling Alicia would try and understand John anyways but still refreshing.

Fei Ashtear

I am so glad she's looking at things from John Walker's perspective. I didn't on my first watch. If the camera was following him instead of Sam and Bucky, he'd obviously be the hero.

Ali

funny seeing you here and in the discord lol, spittin fax tho

ExcelDamage

you see, karli had to blow those people up, cos otherwise she might have just been a good person 🙃

nervouspirate

John Walker is Captain America’s take on “I’m you, but worse.” He’s like Venom to Spider-man or Deadpool to Wolverine.

Seraphem

I do like this series overall, but yeah..... the way the story can't decide on if Karli is supposed to be sympathetic or not is the worst part of it. Doesn't help that it never gives concrete ideas on just what it is that she's so upset about beyond vague issues with "The people who blipped out want their stuff back". Like, here, "you had six months worth of supplies in here!" six months for how many people? Why was it in the warehouse? Was it just general bureaucratic inefficiency? Was it being held as an emergency stockpile? Actually being distributed but on a set schedule to maintain a stockpile for emergencies?

Yaboi7117

I’m sorry you got stopped by dumb police officers who likely had nothing better to do. Unfortunately American Racism is built in the country’s DNA.

So, the merchandise thing is a huge complaint in the fandom. Marvel comics have such a weird fixation on making their heroes humbled that it sometimes just doesn't make any sense or get really annoying with the number of hoops they need to jump through to explain why Peter Parker is still broke, why the xmen are still hated. It gets really annoying when Peter and iron heart are making billion dollars of inventions but just losing the patent. DC totally approach this in a much more realistic manner, where the justice league actively has issues with people trying to join for profit and a number of other super groups being sponsored by nefarious corporations, because there is a lot of money to made as a superhero. It's mentions that the Flash actually has a huge problem that if the amount of money he earns is every leaked people would instantly know who he is. Batmans already rich but actually pumps more money into the League then he earns. Superman actually puts all his profits into a trust that he barley uses except for charity and family emergencies. Wonder Woman doesn't care, she's already rich and doesn't even really try to hide her secret identity

Spacefrog

Imagine what a black Captain America during the 50s could have done to segregation. Probably why they locked up Isayah, so noone would know. It gets darker the more you know about the super soldier program. More than 300 black soldiers were injected with the serum without their consent or knowledge. Isaiah is one of five successful test subjects. Those five were also the only ones who survived. It does explain how Red Guardian could have fought Captain America during the cold war.

Vivica the witch

I'm glad she said cyberpunk cuz I was like damn is this night city?

Egregore

I dunno about hero; but he’s definitely a well-meaning person.

pocofeliz

im glad you like John Walker, hes the best character in the series ^^

Raskilion

I just wanna highlight the hilarity of them putting handcuffs on Bucky when they arrest him

Kawaii Edgelord

Alicia is totally right about the "merchandising rant" and she was right to do it!

EnderSlayer366

only 3 episodes in and she already understands john walker better than 90% of marvel fans, this is gonna be good

Harnson

Alicia channeling her inner Tony Stark. "Please be a secret door. Please be a secret door. YAY"

Rowdeemunkee

I'm a self admitted hater of this show, but I will cut it the tiniest of slack and say that because it came out during the pandemic, ALOT of scenes explaining villian motivation and plans were cut. The original idea was to start a global pandemic that would again reduce the population, the vaccines in the trucks were part of that plan. With all scenes mentioning that getting cut and hastily reshot, it really affected the script. That being said, the writer went on to make terrible scripts a few more times. So yea, the tiniest bit of slack.

Rowdeemunkee

I'm glad that people love John Walker. Despite some of the lines the writers give him to make you dislike him. When this first came out I felt insane defending the guy.

TrueWarriorJak

6:55 Nah Sam being Cap in this climate is exactly why we need it. Cpt.A has always been about the ideal version of what America should be, and sadly much like what is happening irl Sam in the comics had to deal if the backlash of being the quote black cap.

Rowdeemunkee

It's really interesting to watch her go through the phases of liking marvel less and less. This was a slow decline over a decade for us. Writers didn't talk between shows (disney was cranking them out quickly to fill disney+ during covid) so there's alot more obvious inconsistencies in the world building. It was frusterating

RF

BTW, the Isaiah's story in the comics is based on the Tuskegee Study. . . which was when the US gov thought it was a good idea to try and cure syphilis by first giving a ton of black men syphilis under the cover of giving them healthcare and using them as test subjects. Because, racism.

MarakamiSG

How easily we forget that Steve also used a gun in Avengers

Hugh Mungus

Regardless of anything the writing is trying to do, she's a piece of shit.

Dorran

Sam and Bucky's dynamic is the heart and soul of this show XD They are so awesome, and... they're *both* grieving Steve. People also went nuts over Zemo's dancing back when it came out! The mask is Zemo's outfit from the comics, and... it's just been nice that Marvel (post-Endgame) has been leaning a lot more heavily into comic-book accurate outfits. Karli has honorable motivations, but her means are anything but. Kind of the same with Walker (and *no,* I will never call him Cap). Walker... really isn't a bad guy, he's just... under an immesurable amount of pressure to live up to someone who he just isn't. Like, even when they're going on about eagles flying overhead and flags waving majestically, that's the kind of thing that I don't think Steve would have really put up with even on his war bond tour. Modern warfare destroys soldiers so fundamentally... not that it didn't in the past, but they've shown that the constant state of high alert that exists in modern warfare just shreds their mental state faster than ever before. It is unfair that they put him in the position that they have, but... it is down to him to deal with it. So far... he isn't dealing with it very well at all.

Rowdeemunkee

My favourite thing about John is his motivation. He is without a doubt a hero. A good man and a good soldier. The question is can he make that transition into being a superhero?

Rowdeemunkee

I do agree tho, the writers wanted you to feel that ick with that headshot. Vibes were different. I don't agree with that decision, I hate the writers, but it's why most people forgot the avengers had no qualms about killing where nessesary.

Rowdeemunkee

I'm commenting alot on this one. There are many reasons I wish the shield went to Bucky, but this therapy session reminds me one of them. Character arc spoilers btw. I don't think there should have been a new cap, and the shield should have gone to Bucky. Steve was the one person who never gave up on him, and he was all Bucky had left. Bucky carrying that shield would be a constant reminder of that, something to reassure him of his action while having an identityto strive for. From there Bucky story could have been taking all these powers (that were forced on him btw) that hurt so many people and do good to honor the shield. I love Sam, as Falcon. Ine of my favs. He already had an established public hero identity. It really feels like his entire character just become "new captain america" while Bucky has had NOTHING going on besides a political career (what?!) they backtracked 6 months later.

Hugh Mungus

I would agree, but I don't think Bucky is ready for the shield. Steve giving it to him would have almost been seen as a foisting of responsibility while Bucky still had a mountain of demons to overcome. There's a future where Bucky carries that shield proudly but it's not right now, he has a lot of shit he needs to deal with first.

Bologna Amputation

I feel like John's been set up to fail. In universe, I mean.

Alvin Everett

The thing nobody realizes is John Walker is written this way on purpose. If we got John Walker from the comics, there’d be no redeeming qualities whatsoever, but this person is written to be both the opposite of what Erskein said to Steve (good man vs perfect soldier), and have a heart while the entire world is judging you (just like the real world is judging Sam) and him purposefully cracking under pressure, having a quick temper & desperate to be taken seriously. THIS IS WHY HE’S NOT THE VILLAIN At the same, you completely understand Sam & Bucky’s positions as neither are mad at John (only the situation the government they can’t ever trust put them in) & probably think he works FOR them (not WITH them; a big difference), the government has hated Bucky for things he couldn’t control, the government was hunting them down from Civil War—Infinity War, Sam & Bucky were both Steve’s best friend and know that Captain America stands for what people should strive to be (the main reason John Walker & Bucky Barnes are not fit for the mantle currently).

StorytellerDave

This show created a lot of Sam x Bucky shippers.

RF

Sorry to double post, but also I'll just add that this might be because Ms Marvel comics were probably one of the first peaces of media I've had that so early bassically set for how I think of the world: but that "good is something you do, not something you are" is like so incredibly tied to how I see the world even after more than a decade later that I just can't view people or fictional characters as "good men" or "bad men". Like that just feels like a moral trapping, which was the point and how important that is to the core of Kamala Khan as a character. And I feel like that applies to this show really well too. Bucky isn't a good or bad man, those don't exist, he's a guy who fought nazis, was brainwashed by nazis and killed a lot of good people and is dealing with trauma in the not best way, he's done good things and he's done bad things and currently he's trying to do what he thinks is the right thing even if it is not completely the good thing. And Walker is much of the same, he bassically came out of a factory as an "All American Hero", good soldiers do often do bad things because they are good soldiers. He's a likable guy who is under a lot of pressure and he really doesn't seem to do well under pressure. . .

Just a suggestion but I think you should check out the Watchmen 2009. It’s DC but it’s really good

2026-10-07 05:00 Can someone explain why the wingmen line is bad to me? I understand that it’s supposed to sound bad, but I just don’t understand why it is.

pocofeliz

idk but I'm assuming its like calling them sidekicks in this situation

Beryl Strifeclaw

Zemo broke himself out technically, they just aided and abbeted after the fact, but he clearly could have done it at any time if he'd wanted to.

Daisy Azuras

Thank God, somebody mentioned llamas with hats, cause I was about to lose my shit. I am glad that Alicia had the foresight to make the joke, even if she forgot what she was referencing at the moment I’m very happy that she remembered that it was llamas with hats though.

Trevor Appel

25:37 Lamar it's hard to take you seriously when you talk with your head cocked like you have a crick in your neck that's been there for at least 3 days

.

RE: the car bomb, a lot of people thought it was out of character for her and only served to make sure she was seen as the bad guy.

Bowman C.

1. Zemo is one of if not the best villain of MCU 2. When he said Madripoor, I immediately went “Black Lagoon?” But no, that’s roanapur. Locations’ very similar though

AvatarConner

Ok so fun fact, Mandripoor is the first referance to the X-Men in the mcu, it's where a lot of Wolverine stories take place

daverboy

On this second watch-through, I do feel like John is going off the rails a little quickly. That said, it's a mixture of both the stress of the job, and the fact that he was a modern day soldier before he was Captain America. The way that he handles a mission, and the frame of mind he locks into, are vastly different to Steve.

Joey245

Loved that Llamas with Hats reference lmao. Glad you're enjoying these episodes more than the first one!

Technical_Analysis

No furniture? He's got that small table right behind him!

Emeradis

I'm so glad that after his character was completely ignored in captain americas plot, zemo got a fantastic revival as the villain you hate to love. In the comics at least, Zemo was closer to cap's rival in ww2 than red skull. They had a way more interesting dynamic. Plus his outfit is one of the closest to comic accurate save for cap and iron man.

Dr. JB (h.c.)

Sure, a wingman is the one that gives support and/or protection to the primary, but it isn't a denigrating comment. No one in the military views a wingman as a lesser position, Sam certainly didn't about his wingman when he initially served.

Birdbeta

zemo kinda looks like mr beast

Vivica the witch

Man the they reused the same streets in this and black widow.

Darc Hart94

Being that fucking ungrateful to a man who saved your lives just because he was given the title of captain america after the two of you didn't want it. Fuck Sam, fuck bucky

Darc Hart94

He already did the moment he risked his life to protect others

Darc Hart94

Cap betrayed the US government and his friends to protect Bucky who at the time was an active assassin who had just killed the king of wakanda, cap would completely say some shit like stay the hell out of my way

A

Cap kills people ALL THE TIME… shoots people, Throws them off planes etc. It very common for Cap to kill a bad guy. He’s a Soldier. Also making John “Cap” with NO Super solider serum was stupid. He can’t do what cap needs to do without being enhanced. Alicia… you make it as weird as the Therapist did when you constantly are projecting gay fantasies onto these 2 Straight Men.
