mykanike

I hope her mods told her about the extended intro and when to watch it

Caison

so yeah... idk if you were told, but Uncle Grandpa is another show on cartoon network making this a crossover episode and the only non-canon episode in the series

Fei Ashtear

I am sorry you had to see Say Uncle.

LordTouchMe

I'm so happy you get to see the crossover! It's actually surprisingly good and funny, regardless of what my opinion of Uncle Grampa actually is.

Harus Streit

Regardless of being told, it's pretty much pointed out in the episode on its own, what with the 'coming up' thing during the 'flashback', and being non-canon.

Christopher Lovejoy

This is probably because I was a dumb little ten year old watching it, but I loved Say Uncle and the Uncle Grandpa show in general

Mack Tofte

I'm glad she didn't hate the crossover, though I do wish she had been more prepared to watch it. Not knowing how serious to take it did seem to take a lot of her enjoyment out of it. And of course Love letters was great, as all Garnet episodes are.

LordTouchMe

Oh, I AM thankful that you didn't watch it in the release order - that would have REALLY DERAILED the pacing! (It originally aired before the season 1 finale, like an episode or two before it and BOY was the internet upset by it!!)

BlastYoBoots

Uncle Grandpa sunk Lars and Sadie's SHIP with a HEAD CANNON

King'sBard

Nah, it has some genuine funny bits, plus she's seen worse.

Crimson Gold

So to explain: Say Uncle is a crossover episode between Steven Universe and Uncle Grandpa. Uncle Grandpa's entire thing is that he's basically a sort of deity, being everybody's uncle & grandpa at the same time. Uncle Grandpa's entire show is essentially one big acid trip where someone has a problem, he shows up to fix it & everything goes regular show style from there. A lot of people disliked it for how weird it was, but for me it was so dumb it looped around to being a genuinely good show if you wanted to turn off your brain & laugh.

xattygt

I know the episode isn't suposed to be canon but I kinda like the thought of uncle grandpa being the reason why he was able to use his shield to save the gems in the finale

xattygt

As a young child I didnt reslly like steven universe cause my small brain though the art style looked bad but I loved uncle grandpa. When siblings told me there was a uncle grandpa crossover with Steven universe I little went out of my way to was the uncle grandpa episode. As I grew older I decided to watch steven universe around the time the movie came out and fell in love with it

Fei Ashtear

I'd rather watch Quantumania again than Uncle Grandpa. I'd do it for $300 upfront though lol.

YukoValis

Uncle Grandpa is sorta like if you took deadpool and replaced the violence with dad jokes.

xattygt

They say the episode isn't canon but didnt uncle grandpa basically teach steven on to summon his weapon on command and also taught the gems they dont have to fight everytime they see someone new. Also some foreshadowing

cry_w

Ah, Uncle Grandpa. What a strange show. Also. I really do like a good Garnet episode.

MattTOB

I've heard a theory that the reason Jamie went to Kansas to become an actor is because Walt Disney grew up there before moving to California and creating his company — so if something in this timeline stopped him from leaving, but still let him create Disney there, the film/animation industry could've moved to form around him.

Max

i do think that after the show's done Alicia might want to watch James Woodall's videos on SU, including "Does Steven Universe REALLY have filler?" because it has some very interesting points to make about episodes like these. Say Uncle was talked about as the worst example of a problem a lot of people saw in the show, but the benefit of hindsight makes almost all of them very valuable to the overall structure of the story

Brian Ward

I really didn't care about Uncle Grandpa that much.

Kathryn McMurtry

Let's gggoooooooo! There are so many things I can't wait for Alicia to see in the show, so I'm really happy with the steady stream of episodes.

Seroili

"Don't worry kid, I'm wearing a helmet" gave me a genuine snicker.

Beryl Strifeclaw

Say Uncle is the second worst episode of Steven Universe (to me), but easily the best episode of Uncle Grandpa. (Which isn't saying much)

YukoValis

Honestly I don't even count it as an episode. It is some cross over side content, like an OVA.

Anzac-A1

Say Uncle is just a bad episode. It was 100% a thing SU never needed.

Glitchmaster1872

I haven't seen the show. But I imagine Uncle Grandpa is kina like the American version of Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo. If you haven't seen it, you should. It has a similar kind of surreal humor but has the guts to go all the way with it. The manga is insane though, The main character's first appearance has him crucified on the back of a motorcycle driven by a biker gang of literal vegetables.

Ramizis

I think Garnets harsh reaction to the confession was interesting. It felt kind of like she as a fusion was saying "Dude stop talking to my girlfriend", but the intensity is doubled. Just a crack theory though.

ThatoneGuyoverThere33

If I remember right she said in a stream that she was planning on watching all the intros together after she finishes the show.

mykanike

Boooooo! That would stink cause she wouldn’t be getting the same experience those watching it while it aired did (I am one of those ppl)

Josue Quintero

I dont know if someone will see this. But I will like to see a reaction of a series called pantheon, its on netflix. I havent seen any reactions to it, and for me its a peak series. I recomend it so much.

Faroth

And he said that the canon was canon

Matthew Price

100%, I picked it up one day, and I found myself awake at like 3 in the morning before work finishing it. I just kind of sat there for a solid 5 to 10 minutes after it was over. It is easily one of the most stand out animated shows I have seen in the last decade.

0ddman

I would not go that far to say its a bad episode, if you treat it as a "don't worry about the story" episode and just turn your brain off, its a good laugh

Pierce Trent

Hey Alicia, Don't know if you read these comments but I'm never awake for your stream so I'll try to ask here. Do you think a time will come where we can re-visit Legend of Korra? Or was the harrasment too bad back then? Just asking because it still says (ongoing) in collections instead of (stopped) like rwby does. And its been a while.

BakaSama

Alicia describing her and Rich “blobbing” gave me diabetes. (No offense meant btw) Also it just occurred to me that there is a certain Episode with Ruby and Sapphire later down the road that may cause her to have an emotional BSOD.

Alex Malix

May have mentioned it before, but the reason why Garnet doesn't have extra arms like the other fusions is that they are always holding hands <3

Miguel Aarón García

Don't sweat it Alicia, Uncle Grandpa was another of Cartoon Network's super weird series, they liked to make crossover episodes of their own shows. As one of your mods pointed out, the Uncle Grandpa episode is non canon, and it will not be acknowledged or mentioned ever again, just kind of an auto promotion.

AnotherWeeb

I've never seen the crossover episode. Truly one of the marketing decisions of all time

Equinox

it's hard to watch, you're not missing out

Michael McKnight

I never realized that before, that's fucking adorable.

Okarun

Alicia, uncle grandpa is a cartoon, a grandpa uncle who helps every cartoon character out there to overcome their fears

Hollowjac

Welcome to Uncle Grandpa where nothing makes sense and we like it that way!!

Ranginald Vagel

Rawdogging Say Uncle with no context was way funnier than I thought it would be

Nick

say what you want about the Say Uncle episode, but the "OH NO OUR SHIP" from Lars is a really fucking funny joke

Vinne

I think it's one of those episodes you'd like if you were younger and high on sugar

Darc Hart94

Unironically uncle grandpa is actually a funny show. Its just wacky cartoon adventures like from the 90s but in the 2010s. Honestly its kind of similar to amazing world of gumball in that regard

N00B

We didn't know what we had until it was gone. Rest in Peace, Uncle Grandpa.

N00B

Yeah. The writing really starting going sour come the Steven-bombs.

cyberspacecat

Alicia might not have skipped Say Uncle, but I sure will, I'm not putting myself through that more than once in my lifetime

NI Hartley

She watched the first episode of season 2 a few months ago, so i think its definitely a possibility that she comes back to the rest of the series if her schedule lightens up

Vinne

Never break up the two lesbians in a trench coat 🙂‍↕️

Sam Marsh

Uncle Grandpa was a bizarre, surreal animated series that aired on Cartoon Network at around the same time as Steven Universe, and for some unhinged reason, someone thought it would be a good idea to do a crossover between these two shows. At least Uncle Grandpa confirmed in the beginning that none of this was canon.

Firestormwalker

He destroyed it with his ‘head cannon.’

Firestormwalker

Dare I ask what your worst episode of Steven Universe is? I can’t think of any other obvious ones that jump out to me.

PrivateXimmy

Probably for the best, Mr Gus already knows how the show ends 😉

PrivateXimmy

Garnet’s also never one to be vague with her emotions. Better to let someone down hard so they can move on then lead them along.

Levi Price

I cannot describe how forced down everyone throats Uncle Grandpa was, the way they had collaboration that didn't make sense. The constant commercial and I mean constant. They even heads him show up on there flash games on there website. People myself included were so sick of him month before he even premiered.

Fei Ashtear

It's important to prioritize your mental health

Easy Mode - A.I

he really was forced down peoples throats but after getting older n giving it a chance... uncle grandpa really wasn't that bad of a cartoon. Spicey take I know. You also gotta remember half of the INSANE SLOP that was popping up on CN at the time. like SUPER MOUNTAIN FORT AWESOME.

DLCDallas

Oh, so she didn't skip it she just used it's pre-Jones-Quartey list position.

Demi

I might be a weird one but I genuinely enjoy Say Uncle. Uncle grandpa was a weird show but it's style of humor makes me happy lol.

AcenmasterX

That line, "Don't worry kid, NONE of this is canon." does such heavy lifting for me. Like, I don't really like the episode, but I respect it.

Daisy Azuras

I’m glad that they specified that none of this is Canon. I don’t really like the uncle grandpa show that much. It just seemed a little too ridiculous to me, but I do appreciate that. They attempted to do something so insane the crossover that they did with all these other shows was fun, but I’m glad that they specify none of it is Canon. It’s just a special event as such, we could just skip this episode, but since we’re already here, I guess we’ll just have to sit back and enjoy it.

Corrupt_Crimson

GOOD MORNING!!!! Also i had to search this up, but no UG did not made a crossover in all the shows that he had characters in the list for, however there is an episode of UG where he hosts the Grampies( I think the episode is called Cartoon Factory) where the ones on the list are in the audience iirc

Beryl Strifeclaw

Rocknaldo is worse to me. I know not everyone agrees, and some don't think its that bad, but I hate it way more than this episode. This episode has the saving grace of the Gems reactions are priceless. Pearl and Amythest actually make me laugh between eating pizza steve and 'this is our home now!', but I find no joy in Rocknaldo.

SweetCandle

Fun fact: The company that developed Sea-Monkeys shared office space with the creator's other business distributing antisemitic literature and purchasing firearms for the Ku Klux Klan.

KokoPelly

Blobing together is adorable, y'all are so Garnet

theDeathBerry

As much as i dislike Say Uncle him sinking Lars' and Sadie's "ship" with a literal headcannon gets a chuckle out of me everytime.

Julio Castillo

Say Uncle is one of the best and most fun crossovers Cartoon Network has ever done. Also... what Jaime said about Kansas being where the movies are made is not him being delusional or a goof, is actually a real piece of lore.... the show takes place in a alternate planet earth, one where Holidays like Halloween, Christmas or Thanksgiving don't exist.... and also where the big movie industry of the US developed in Kansas instead of California.

TurdManJones

Well most of Hollywood is leaving California, so let's call it foresight.

TurdManJones

It's very fucked up of Uncle Grandpa to show up looking like Steven's dead(?) mother

Razgar_dar

I did get a death threat like a decade ago it did absolutely nothing, college and all the math related bs did then came covid and 3 years before I was destroyed. I just needed a year and I was fine after no therapy or drugs.

JayKellz

Bruh the way people were so angry about Say Uncle years ago you wouldve thought Uncle Grandpa held a gun up to their heads or something. I enjoyed Uncle Grandpa back then and I still do now.

TheNoobThatCould

imagine being mad over an april fools episode honestly

JayKellz

Especially one that the people in the SU crew actively enjoyed watching

Nuk Limpear

My Gemsona... is Crystal Meth. ( tumblr.com/brainbubblegum/113988567493 )

Nuk Limpear

...didn't BOTH those shows have the same creator?

Cali Jester

That Say Uncle episode is a MASSIVE drug trip if you have zero knowledge of Uncle Grampa. I think it's hilarious with the 3rd wall jokes, but I can understand people being really turned off by it.

Taylor Lapira

The Uncle Grandpa episode has always been grating to me, but I do love how the gems all react like they're being confronted by some mad god
