Kenjaku in the first scene is... very interesting. Originally, I always read that scene in the manga as them being a bit mocking and tongue-in-cheek about being Yuji's parent. But they played it so sincere and maternal instead, as if there's a part of Kenjaku that truly does care about Yuji and is happy that he has friends. Which makes it all the worse when you consider what he planned, and how Yuji was part of it since the beginning.

The thing with that is you need constant ammo for it plus most sorcerers in the culling games are strong enough or know jujutsu so well that it wont matter with guns.
