DarkTitan5010

The IRON GIANT, I’m gonna enjoy this

Jaffar Black Fang

He was built to be Atamo but in the end he chose to be superman

Wolfman

I am preparing to cry.

Austin

Oh my God, this movie helped shape my world view as a child. I also haven't watched it since I was a child because the trauma was too much.

Kapitány Zoltán

Why is today Christmas? Don't answer, I'm not complaining.

Kyutoko

Movie I actually have never seen, LET'S GOOOOOOO!

N

The brave little toaster is real and well animated good watch from what I remember it’s been a while

Dean Miller

And to think Brad Bird would eventually do The Incredibles. Guy knows animation.

José

This film made me cry as an adult. I love it for the sincerity I feel in it

NuttyMegged

Yes the Brave Little Toaster is a real set of movies. My parents had the first one on VHS. It was my favorite movie as a kid.

Jaffar Black Fang

Fun fact the two old men in the train accident are the same 2 old guys in the incredibles "See there thats how you do it thats old school"

WormyG

Brave little Toaster is a great movie and an adaptation of a book. Great movie, but SUPER messed up. Back when Disney was more lenient with what encompassed a children's movie. Also the Director of the Iron Giant, Brad Bird, his sister was murdered by her husband. He used a gun. When approaching Iron Giant he asked 'what if a gun had a soul and didn't want to be a gun'

shilla

Danm my childhood nostalgia.

Commisar_Pickle

Well...didnt think id be crying this morning but here we are

Miguel Luna

Brave Little Toaster TRAMA incoming!!!!

Aku

OrangeHeartGamer

16:20 omfg The Brave Little Toaster.... add it to the trauma list XD

N00B

Vin Diesel's greatest role in my opinion.

Rasmus Helm

The Iron Giant! LET'S GOOOOOO!

TJBraddock

Yeah, Party Wolf isn't pulling your leg about Brave little Toaster And this movie was released in 1999.

Windthor Pryas

Probably one of the best movies ever made.

Miguel Aarón García

Yep, Brave Little Toaster is real, and it's really fucked up. Truly a trauma movie.

Leonidas_72777

I will say if you do end up liking Lego ninjago you should give the show a try

Iain McDonald

Welp, someone will be crying in an hour or so. And it will be me.

Shalune

"Golem" is surprisingly fitting! It originally comes from Jewish folklore as a humanoid animated from inorganic material who served as a guardian. The story of the golem was one of the inspirations for Superman T_T

Adam Lahaie

My favourite childhood movie

Richard

I haven’t seen it myself, but YES, The Brave Little Toaster is a REAL movie and I would be down to watch it with you Alicia. As for this movie, one of my favs of my childhood, loved the reaction. Also, I know this is not where requests get put, but I’m gonna anyway, Brother Bear.

Mitch Gates

Something to look out for, now that you've watched this movie: There's a picture floating around the internet of The Iron Giant meeting his hero, Superman. It goes something like, Giant saying "Superman?" And Supes going "Hey there, big guy. Heard there was a new superhero around here and wanted to say hello!"

Hybrid Nero

Dropping this here for what inspired this movie: The Iron Giant (1999) was primarily inspired by director Brad Bird’s desire to create a memorial for his sister, Susan, who was murdered by her husband with a gun in 1989. The film's core theme, "What if a gun had a soul and didn't want to be a gun?", directly addresses this personal tragedy.

Dave the Sasquatch

I just finished the Thunderbolts reaction and saw this so I guess I'm just chainsmoking peak at 3 AM!

John Vucich

Manleys is played by Christopher McDonald. The guy that plays Shooter McGavin I'm Happy Gilmore.

DJSkywalker

He really isn't messing with you. The Brave Little Toaster is a real movie and it's definitely a trauma movie

Zachary Simmons

It's important to note that Brad Bird (the director) lost his sister to gun violence shortly before this movie, which was a huge inspiration for the anti-gun message you saw

[blank]

The brave little toaster gotta watch

Barbietube

No matter how many times i see this movie, no matter how old i get, it will never not be a peak movie that makes me tear up

Matt Myers

Duck and cover was never supposed to save you from an atomic bomb, it was a lie to keep people calm so their last few moments of life wasn't complete panic.

leviathan_13

Wait WTF, they deleted the scene where the giant remembered he is a weapon of mass destruction! Why censor it!? Now it sucks that they didn't see it... found it on YT: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SsL0GbswF3I I also love how the movie's message is "weapons are bad, sure, the military is not great either, but the worst thing there is... the real villain is a BUREAUCRAT!"

DJSkywalker

Fun fact there's actually a deleted scene (included in the extended edition) that goes into the Giant's backstory that Dean ends up witnessing, it explains his freak out much better.

AnotherWeeb

nah it'll save you from the bomb if you're the right distance away. Obviously if the bomb lands right on you, you're cooked. but if it lands like 2-3 miles away, duck and cover will protect you when the shockwave throws glass and loose stone across the room and makes weak ceilings collapse

The Evil Lobster

While it may be a head cannon, I prefer to think the Giant did Canonically die after sacrificing himself, and the ending scene was just put there to prevent a higher age rating or something, as him surviving makes Hogarth's earlier conversation with the giant, where he says dying isn't bad and that souls don't die, kind of pointless if he lives.

AnotherWeeb

Is it even really anti gun? Guns are dangerous, sure, but guns bad? The giant IS a gun, and he's the hero

Lightinger

What if a gun had a soul and didnt want to be a gun

TSP247

I found out this was based on a old book The Iron Man: A Children's Story in Five Nights apparently there was a sequel book the iron woman both written by Ted Hughes. The iron giant was always a favorite of mine. I'm not sure if your ever going to watching it or you already have but I always loved the movie Meet the Robinsons.

Darc Hart94

Its a shame hogarths lesson of "guns kill" was so misguided.

Kyutoko

Oh yes please, Brave Little Toaster! That is a beloved childhood movie I grew up with!

Latrios (Coen van Haaster)

This isn't a DC property, or at least it certainly wasn't when the film was released. it was instead based on a book of the same name. As others have said, the film is based on Brad Bird's then-recent loss of his sister to gun violence, so he approached this film with the concept 'what if a gun had a soul, and didn't want to be a gun anymore' Brad Bird did also elaborate at one point on the Giant's backstory, he was originally sent from an alien empire long, long ago from the elsewhere in the galaxy to conquer Earth, but in all the time spent traveling to it, the empire in question had long since collapsed and gone extinct, leaving the giant as possibly the last remnant of his people, or at least their weapons.

Cabo Boose

The Brave Little Toaster is indeed multiple movies

dragon emperor ry

all hail the iron giant who is somewhat of a golem

dragon emperor ry

brave little toaster i love that movie it was one of my favorites as a kid incredibly dark and yet wholesome another movie to check out is the land before time those movies are some of the best dinosaur movies ever made

j00d_d00d

I forgot this was a Brad Bird film! What a legend, and it was so lovely to go through this movie again! I used to watch it so much as a kid, but it's been years since I've seen it. It's even better than I remembered. Man, I'd totally be 100% on board with going through some older kids animated films, like A Goofy Movie, The Brave Little Toaster (yes, it's real, even them going to Mars hahahaaa), etc. Even having seen all of it as a kid, it's such a different experience as an adult. Such amazing animation quality and important themes everyone can enjoy. Anyways, amazing upload as always, queen! <3

Texasholdme

"What if a gun had a soul, and didn't want to be a gun?"

The_Dozer

Brad bird, the director for the movie, was inspired to make it because his sister was killed by gun violence, so he made this movie to answer the question "what if a gun had a soul, and didn't want to be a gun", I believe it was based on a book of the same name.

Stephan Legaard

I it would ve awesome to see you watch The Brave Little toaster

ii_war

You should watch the Madagascar moviess

Nick

yeah "duck and cover" from an atomic bomb, good luck with that but i guess the government didn't really wanna tell the people that you are going to get vaporized no matter what you do

Connor Devine

Brave little toaster is a fun movie that took kids seriously. That would be really fun to see you react to. That and if you liked this maybe Atlantis or road to el dorado

PhoenixRising

Brave Little Toaster Goes to Mars is a FOUNDATIONAL movie for me. I know I've seen the others when I was little but that was the one that stuck with me. I dont even know how many times ive seen it.

Lord morokei

One of the greatest movies of all time

rmnlegion

Brave little toaster is a real. And definitely recommend.

Bob

A Brad Bird classic, same creator as the Incredibles and Ratatouille from Pixar. It's a bit funny to me that Superman is a thematic presence in this movie and there actually is an actor in here who has played Superman! It's the last one you'd expect though, Creepy Government Man Manley is voiced by Christopher McDonald who played the older Superman who appeared in the Batman Beyond TV show. He also voiced Jor-El, Clark's Krypton dad, in Superman the Animated Series which is in the same continuity. Both those shows and the entire DCAU/Timmverse collection is highly recommended by the way, peak superhero fiction.

Egregore

Can’t wait for Ninjago! It’s the goat of Lego shows.

Razgar_dar

That sucks, i'd like to return to the time where you could say or do shit without offending someone. Where people took risks in animation and gaming, despite what ppl and critics say.

Hylian Warrior

This movie is just an absolute classic!

Cole Savoie

There was one year where Cartoon Network played this movie 24/7 for a weekend. It was kinda annoying

Timmetry

The Brave Little Toaster is a fantastic movie! A favorite from my childhood! You gotta check it out!

Oh! That Robin

Absolutely you should watch The Brave Little Toaster those movies were my freaking childhood

DasBigUn

"SU-PER-MAN"

Boopthesnoot

It’s funny that you say that. She actually watched them all on one of her friend’s channels I believe.

Justin_IVIX

There was a lot of funny cultural confusion from them watching this. Of course the kid would have a gun under his bed. The setting is A) America B) 1950s C) Maine, which to this day has no minimum age to own a hunting gun. Also this was set before high-trust society collapsed, so stranger danger wasn't even a concept yet.

ii_war

oh shi, you right. Thanks

DasBigUn

GOLEM Yes, Brave little toaster is a "trauma" movie. I mean, 90's kids and 80's kids where thrown too the "cartoon wolf's". Like, seriously, there are a ton that would be considered "trauma" movies

Azaxul

I completely forgot how good this movie was. Last time I saw it I was 9 and cried without understanding why.

xxDrain

That TV scene at 10:30 reminds me a lot of Clarence Claymore's origins in the Big Lez Show :D

Aubrey Bryn

As a golem, I can assure you, The Brave Little Toaster is kind of fucked

Craig

Me go, you stay. No follow 😭😭😭😭😭

Cole Savoie

The pitch for this movie was “what if a gun didnt want to be a gun”

Chamoun101

Once you subscribe to Alicia for the first time: Don't go, you stay. No unfollowing.

Chamoun101

„Da-da-dadadada-da-da, circus, da-da-dadadada-da-da, afro! Circus afro, circus afro! Polka dot, polka dot, polka dot afro!“

MorRud

I remember watching this, The Prince of Egypt, Treasure Planet and Atlantis: The Lost Empire over and over again when I was a kid.

Alicia Barkley

The Brave Little Toaster is a real thing and YES IT DOES HAVE TRAUMA,

Vinson Patterson

This was cold war America. Under a Cold War Government. Mansley was erased from existence. That man was disappeared. He didn't see the inside of a court room

Grandmasta

Would love to see a Brave Little Toaster reaction.

The Atheist Reverend

It makes my heart happy that you guys loved this movie so much. When I was a kid this movie was a STAPLE of our household viewing. My autistic young could and probably still can recite this movie from memory. I hadn’t watched it all the way through in almost 15 years and GOD it’s just as amazing as I remember. Also kudos for picking up on the Anti-Gun messaging. As many people in these comments have undoubtedly stated, Brad Bird’s famous quote for describing this movie was “What if a gun had a soul and didn’t want to be a gun?” And GOD he nails it. Hope you end up checking out other incredible animated movies from this era, like Treasure Planet and Atlantis: The Lost Empire. Either way, looking forward to the next reaction!

Mr.n

Wait I'm tripping or is there a part missing when the giant dreaming

ExcelDamage

hurray for iron giant! and yes! we need a brave little toaster reaction! :D

Hangrycarrot

Love this movie, will always love this movie, even as a grown a** man parts of this movie have me tearing up hard. Also the brave little toaster movies are real and have some real "WTF?! Is this doing in a kid's movie!?" nightmare fuel moments that you only get from 80's and 90's cartoon movies.

Setsuna

Those two and Titan A.E

pocofeliz

im glad they didnt go the usual alian meets military route and make the general a big bad

J. Jenny Jameson

The scene was cut from the theatrical release back in the 90's, the studio has always been risk-averse and didn't even like any talk about 'guns kill', which Bird had to fight to include. The scene is only in the extended re-release, which I'm not sure why they didn't watch here. If you look closely you can see the animation is a little different because it was finished years later.

J. Jenny Jameson

That was a scene cut from the theatrical release and added in a later extended cut. Not sure why they're watching the original, maybe different streaming services don't have that one.

keeperofthekingdom

You HAVE to watch The Brave Little Toaster, it's real and it really IS a trauma movie

Mr.n

Oh okay thanks for that information I thought I was tripping

Klaytor

I just realized Alicia's reaction is shorter than the movies length she must had really enjoyed it

J. Jenny Jameson

I am 99% sure that's supposed to be a BB gun. It never gets fired but that's a much more normal thing for a kid to have, even in america.

Pepe D. Silvia

The one animated movie that always makes me cry and I don’t have to be watching it directly it could just be playing in the background also had this as a kid on VHS and would watch it on repeat also there is a scene on the extended edition that shows a bit of the giants background through a dream sequence hope Alica gets to see it on her own time I’m sure it out there on YouTube

Daisy Azuras

I am shocked and surprised that she’s actually watching this and I don’t mean like any negative way or anything so don’t take it like that I mean a lot of people if either already seen this movie or if they haven’t, they don’t know it exists which was part of the problem with the marketing of this movie

Tyler the Dragon

Oh I can’t wait for the ninjago reaction! I used to love that show growing up Also the brave little toaster is a real movie. My dad showed it to me growing up and it’s still one of the saddest movies I’ve ever seen, at the very least the saddest kids movie But it’s still really good

Daisy Azuras

I personally love this movie because I actually got to go and watch it being made. My best friend growing up, got a job as a cleanup artist and in between artist for Warner Brothers at their Glendale studio so while this movie was in production, he would bring me over to the studio and Weed go up to the I think it was like the 20th floor or something like that I can’t remember it was it was up there and we’d be going through the hallway where they have all the story boards put up on the wall so you could actually watch like the whole movie from beginning to end in storyboard format and what was interesting is that a lot of the storyboards showed things that were either edited out or cut or changed because it was like the early production point he also told me stories about how the movie was originally a little bit more violent and intense, but I don’t mean like graphically violent just like the giant weaponry was more ballistic than energy weapon. Originally there was like a lot of other stuff that got changed around a bit or got cut. I heard that they added in a bunch of sequences that were originally cut for the special edition version which is pretty cool but yeah getting to go to that studio during all of Warner Brothers. Animations productions was a great joy I mean, I saw like all their movies that were being made in the 90s. I got to go and look at all that stuff before anyone else even knew it was being made.

Daisy Azuras

Dude, this is probably not the right place to put a post like this. I should know because I used to do the same thing and I got yelled at a lot. Alicia does everything on her own time. She has her own real life issues that she has to deal with and all of this. It’s just her gift to us so when it arrives, it arrives and when it doesn’t, it doesn’t. if you enjoy her work then just wait for it to arrive when she’s ready to make it. And the number one thing do not complain and whine at her because that will just make her not want to do it as a punishment

Fejk Namn

Man, this movie always fucks me up, this hits me in the childhood and also it's a tearjerker. Freaking great movie.

Vivica the witch

"Why does the baby have a gun?" In case the Russians invade Alicia.

Raidey

Please watch the Brave Little Toaster I beg of thee

Vivica the witch

The brave little toaster is howard bound with appliances

Crazyone

This was a favourite of mine and many others. Pretty sure Brad Bird is the same guy who made The Incredibles and Ratatouille.

KyleIronheart

Brave little toaster is a very a good movie to watch yes

Egregore

Alicia has a history of delaying reactions whenever she gets annoying comments asking her about it. You may have just cost us another week of waiting for Steven Universe.

bc@t

One of my go-to movies as a kid. It's a shame it wasn't a theatrical hit, but it had an amazing life post VHS release. With a good-sized cult following that was well deserved. And The Brave Little Toaster is a real series of animated movies that will give serious trauma if you're a little kid😐.

Hellguin

Please FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, watch the Brave Little Toaster!!!! It is such a great film!

David Skiöld

As i child this was my first encounter with the concept of nuclear wreapons. Scared the shit out of me

Mantis

One of my fav movies yesss!

Mantis

It’s a B Movie is a 90s banger!!

Daisy Azuras

The brave little toaster is in fact a real movie and it’s also the cause of a lot of kids trauma from the I think it was what the late 80s I’d have to double check when it came out when I saw it I was a bit older and even as a highschooler it’s still affected me, but yeah, it’s one of those movies where if you understand what’s going on with the characters, it hits you a lot harder than it does if you are an innocent child who doesn’t understand the horrors that are happening before you

Siggy

Yall should do Treasure Planet, underrated movie.

Judah

Oh this is going to make her CRY like a MOFO!!!

The Turtle Bear

yeah for sure you should watch the brave little toaster!

Daisy Azuras

No, this is not a DC comic character. This is based off of a book that was written a while back along long while back. There’s actually a sequel book about an iron woman, but yeah, this has nothing to do with comic books.

Daisy Azuras

Alicia is incredibly perceptive during the dead deer scene. She caught on to the message of this movie really rapidly and pretty much dissected the entire metaphorical meaning behind it. Brad Bird the Director of this movie who also did the Incredibles and a bunch of other real famous animated movies purposely injected a lot of anti-gun messaging because before making this movie, his sister was murdered. I believe by her ex-husband or something who basically shot her to death and he was very upset about that whole incident and wanted to teach kids not to shoot people that using a gun on another person is not acceptable.

Glitchmaster1872

If you need any more heartwarming. When the Iron Giant was first advertised for Multiversus he appeared next to Superman.

Derekloffin

The only sucky thing about this movie... it was a commercial flop! WTF?! So not fair! People's taste in movies suck!

Daisy Azuras

Did anyone else have a really difficult time watching this movie due to it pausing like every 30 to 40 seconds and then not un pausing for almost a minute and a half I kept checking my Internet and it said that I had like between 150 and 250 MB download speed and Youtube was running just fine and everything else was running fine but this video for some reason just would not play normally it would play for a few minutes here and there, but then he would get into this thing where it would just pause and it would stay paused for a long time and then it would unpause for about a minute and then pause he’ll kinda get buffering, but I don’t understand why it would be buffering when I have super high speed download and nothing else that I run, including while trying to watch this video run super smooth without any buffering. It’s only this video that’s having this issue and I don’t think it’s the upload because it doesn’t buffer in the same place each time like if I rewind the video it will play pretty smoothly through the areas that I’ve already watched and then after about a minute or two of watching new parts of the video it’ll just suddenly pause again so I don’t know if maybe the service that she’s using is having a hard time sending the video out or I don’t know there’s there’s just something wrong. I just it’s making it impossible to watch the videos though.

Daisy Azuras

Yeah, Warner Brothers really screwed over this film. I remember my buddy was telling me about how when he was making the movie they cut their budget for advertising as well as a few other production budgets cuts because the executives at Warner Brothers didn’t think the movie was gonna be any good they just had no faith in it until they saw the final cut of the film and then suddenly they thought oh wait maybe this is a good film and then they started trying to give it a advertising budget, but it was already too late and development and they didn’t have any time to really put out any type of buzz so when the movie came out in theaters, nobody went to see it. I think I’m probably the only one I know that is actually watch this movie in the theaters when it came out it wasn’t until after the VHS and DVD copies started to arrive that people started to make buzz about the movie and then later on I found out that they made an extended cut with some of the deleted scenes that my buddy showed me at the studio so that was pretty cool. It’s really cool though is that if you look at the making of on the DVDs and Blu-rays you actually see my buddy working in the background of some of the interview shots when they’re talking to other people on the crew so that was pretty cool but yeah this is probably one of my favorite animated films of all time and not just because of my biases for it because my friend worked on it, I just truly think it was a very well-made film with a really good message and a very strong emotional impact

xerxes133

Yes! YES! WATCH THE BRAVE LITTLE TOASTER! It is so freakin' iconic!

BartonBelladonna

yep. this was part of the trilogy of Disney movies in these next few years that had something in common: a combination of 2D and 3D and/or CGI animation that was incredible back then, and whilst showing age a bit now, is still mind-blowing to this day with how good they are. the other 2 movies compared to it are Atlantis: The Lost Empire and Treasure Planet. even today, for movie buffs and adults, and even a few teens and kids, these 3 movies are considered cult classic family movies with that 90s to 2000s edge that weren't afraid to grow up your kids, even if back when they all first came out, all of them got panned by critics and didn't make much in terms of box office, but still grew to be beloved classics as time went on. hope you do those 2 next, Alicia!

Al.exe

I didn't know there were THREE brave little toaster movies! But yeah, it's real, it IS a trauma movie, and I used to watch it a TON as a kid.

Daisy Azuras

I never saw a part two and part three so I don’t know if they’re any good but the first one was really good. I always mistrust sequels to really good animated movies like that because half the time a different studio or Team takes over and does the sequels and they always do like directive video versions which are usually really low quality with really bad directions and usually has a dumb down story. . Like typically a movie like let’s say the land before Time, which has an epic story that is suitable for adults and younger kids to watch together. It takes the story seriously it doesn’t sugarcoat anything, but then you get to the sequels which were not made by Don Bluth and they become really stupid full of Disney like songs that just don’t fit the movie and the story is really cheesy and dumb down with really stupid language. It’s just so horrible so I’m curious if that was the case with the sequels to the brave little toaster.

Daisy Azuras

This was a Warner Bros. movie not a Disney movie people always confuse it for a Disney movie because it’s actually good whereas most Warner Brothers movies weren’t all that great and I’m being honest here because my friend worked on all of the Warner Brothers movies that came out in the 90s and even he hated most of the films that he worked on except for this movie

BartonBelladonna

honestly, i'm kinda surprised that Atlantis and Treasure Planet weren't his movies either. they're all very similar.

Daisy Azuras

I mentioned in one of my other comments as to why this movie flopped it wasn’t anything to do with people‘s taste in movies. It was executives at Warner Brothers, not trusting it to do well and then once they realize that it was a good movie they were too late to advertise for it so when it came out, nobody even knew it was there or what it was about or if it was for little kids or adults there was just no marketing.

Daisy Azuras

I don’t know if there is a person that can watch this movie without shedding a tear

Daisy Azuras

You’re lucky I grew up in the early 80s and we were still having nuclear bomb drills all the way up until I was in the fifth grade I would always ask my teacher. What was the point of getting under a wooden desk if a nuclear bomb goes off? I mean, I’ve seen the videos wouldn’t the bomb just burn everything including me to Ash and my teachers would just get annoyed and tell me that just do what they say.

DaringDestiny

One of my favorite childhood movies. And you definitely should watch brave little toaster

Dew

Long but powerful excerpt from the Themes section of the movie's Wikipedia page [tw gun death and s****de]: ' When he began work on the film, Bird was in the midst of coping with the death of his sister, Susan, who was shot and killed by her estranged husband. In researching its source material, he learned that Hughes wrote The Iron Man as a means of comforting his children after his wife, Sylvia Plath, died by suicide, specifically through the metaphor of the title character being able to re-assemble itself after being damaged. These experiences formed the basis of Bird's pitch to Warner Bros., which was based around the idea "What if a gun had a soul, and didn't want to be a gun?"; the completed film was also dedicated to Hughes and Susan. McCanlies commented that "at a certain point, there are deciding moments when we pick who we want to be. And that plays out for the rest of your life", adding that films can provide viewers with a sense of right and wrong, and expressed a wish that The Iron Giant would "make us feel like we're all part of humanity [which] is something we need to feel." '

Daisy Azuras

I take it. You’ve only seen the extended version of the movie. It appears the version that Alicia watched is the theatrical release the way it was seen in the movie theater.

Daisy Azuras

One last comment after reading through everybody’s comments below I have to say that we all had such an amazing childhood. We all seem to have grown up watching the same movies and TV shows even though we were born in different generations I mean, I was born in the late 70s and there are people here talking about this movie that were born after the year 2000 to think that there was such a stretch of time that bled into so many different peoples lives is amazing. I’m glad everybody enjoyed this movie and that they think of it to this day. . When I walked around in that studio, checking out the dailies and looking at the story boards, I really didn’t think that this movie would become such a big phenomenon like it did I do feel a little bit sad that it really only came about because a man lost his sister to gun violence, but at least he took that tragedy and turned it into something amazing.

Mr.n

Yeah I never know there was two versions huh it like Batman beyond return of the joker I know that had two different versions but I didn't know iron giant add one too

PapaMedaMacha

NO NO NO ALICIA, The Brave Little Toaster IS a REAL THING and you'd have a BLAST WATCHING IT

rrrebo

GOD NO DO NOT WATCH THE BRAVE LITTLE TOASTER IT WILL PUT YOU BACK IN THERAPY. AND CHEMO. JUST DON'T.

Gerardo Reyes

God I love this movie, always been my favorite as a kid and watched it probably a hundred times and no matter what, without fail, I always start tearing up when I hear the line “you stay, I go” even when I know the outcome

King'sBard

Wow I expected to cry way harder at the Thunderbolts reaction but this got me bawling. Also Yes the Brave Little Toaster is a real movie, I've never seen the full thing but I have seen the junkyard scene...

JacobDarkk

First Time I ever saw Iron Giant was when it was shown for 24 hours on cartoon Network back in 2002. Surprisingly I didn't get bored watching it.

James

This is my favorite Superman movie

RememberNovember

This is without a doubt my favorite movie and I'm glad you're finally watching it!

Silver Raven

BRAVE LITTLE TOASTER IS REAL! AND SO IS FELIE DAE AND PLAGUE DOGS!

Grdaat

Suggesting Plague Dogs is just cruel.

Mhin'qa

You need to watch Brave Little Toaster. That shyt was my childhood

pyrohawk69

I need to see your reaction to Brave Little Toaster! 🤣

BartonBelladonna

for real? cool for your friend then! also, really? he hated most of them? that's kinda weird. I mean, i'm sure it was probably hard work so maybe that's why he hated them, but I thought 90s Warner Bros was decent. at least before the late 2000s, WB movies were pretty decent, from what I remember at least. I was an early 2000s baby, so maybe I just have more of a different view.

Dyllan Egilson

Brave Little Toaster reactions when???

John G Robinson

that is amazing. thank you so much for sharing this :)

John G Robinson

i double this recommendation. treasure planet is an amazing adaptation of one of my favorite books

DrOverbuild8363

A Classic. I could've sworn Alicia said she saw this film already, but I'm glad its more of a first time watch than I expected. And yes as ridiculous as it sounds 'The Brave Little Toaster' is a real movie franchise, and yes I'd recommend reacting to them because their cute, fun, and insane. Also I'm pretty sure their musicals.

Silver Raven

I could recommend Watership Down. But can recommend Leafy a hen in the wild uncut version if you really want to destroy Alicia.

Kayden

Watching this reaction makes me hope for a Treasure Planet reaction, I hope she watches it at some point

ZZ_Top

I second this! Such a good movie

ZZ_Top

I triple this recommendation!

Cartoonking13

The brave little toaster is real and you should watch it. In the third one he goes to Mars.

Random3x

iirc the writers behind the movie made it as a way to explore what if a gun had a soul

Ruby Kelly

58:15 Good job, Alicia. The idea of the movie is 'what if a gun didn't want to be a gun'

Logan Hamilton

Glad you got to watch and enjoy one of my favorite childhood movies. I really like how this movie can explore a darker subject matter but still be suitable for children. This one and some of the Don Bluth films, the secret of Nimh is the goat, are excellent ways to get that childhood depression. Also The brave little toaster movies are actually pretty good and I recommend them

BakaSama

I think this was my first time actually watching the movie and it was really good. The animation in particular was really impressive to me. Dean was definitely my favorite character in it. And yes, the Brave Little Toaster is a real movie and you should ABSOLUTELY watch it!

Pokeloon/Jenbrait

The Brave Little Toaster is a real movie series. Watch at your own risk.

Toa of Z

I loved The Brave Little Toaster! I knew there were at least 2, but I don't remember caring about any besides the first. And yes, it *is* one of those kids movies that leaves scars. It's like toy story, but with appliances that are made to be disposable

BewearKing64

I loooove the brave Little Toaster films! Highly recommend checking out!

Baindrik Morgren

"I was only three." *Me Proceeding to shake the child.*

Grdaat

Fun fact: the Iron Giant and all the vehicles are CG. The reason they blend so well is both because of the art style, and the fact they animated the CG every other frame to make it less smooth. Somehow, in the decades since this movie came out, directors didn't learn that lesson. Also, the Brave Little Toaster IS a real movie.

Wolfbane32x

brave little toaster is legit

Moviejunkie

I like to think that The Wild Robot is The Iron Giant's little sister. Also there is a scene in the extended cut where the Giant does have a dream of where he came from.

bruce lee

the story of the iron giant was writen by a mother who lost her kid to a gun crime

The Emperor Moth

As good as the newer movie is, this is still the best Superman movie.

donald johnson

i feel like alicia would like the monsterverse. you should watch godzilla 2014.

KingStarscream 86

Bro...oh my gosh. It's funny, I'd never actually seen this movie, but I knew bits and pieces of it, including the part where he sacrifices himself. But I didn't know he actually survived. So, in my mind, I'm thinking that I'm gonna be sad because I thought I already knew he died, but the fact that he actually lived makes me so happy. Like, if you couldn't tell by my name, I love robots. So to have this awesome character actually turn out to have lived brought me so much joy. By the way, if you'd like more robot stuff, you should check out the Astro Boy movie(it didn't do well financially, but in my totally unbiased opinion, I'd say it's still good.) Obviously, there's a lot of Transformers media I wanna recommend...Just not the Bay films lol. I hate them so much. Cool action scenes alone don't make a good movie. 😂

Stormofdragons

Vin Diesel put more emotion into the Iron Giant's voice than he has for the most of the Fast and Furious series

Verdigree

The Brave Little Toaster is a super real movie, I remember seeing the ads for it and this movie all the time growing up with VHS’s full of previews. There’s a whole world of non-Disney animation, like Don Bluth movies, The Secret of NIMH, An American Tail, The Land Before Time, Anastasia, All Dogs Go To Heaven are all very memorable

Voltrasin

Third. That would be amazing.

Voltrasin

Mansley stole a radio from a three-star lieutenant general and used it to launch a nuclear missile at a American town during the Cold war. There is no way on this green earth that he was able to leave that town alive. The general took him out into the woods and had him shot.

CarcosanTimeshare

All Dogs Go To Heaven is an emotionally scarring movie. Amazing film. But that last scene between the dog and the little girl... ... Burt Reynolds broke down multiple times recording those last few lines. I'll not go into details here, but I do recommend looking into it.

elietebiscuit

Brave little toaster is definitely real and a trauma staple for kids alongside rock a doodle

DeathHawk31

have you seen Ready Player One? I think you might like it

Verdigree

I don’t know I would say this movie is so specifically about being anti-gun, but that’s included under the umbrella of the larger message, being anti-war.

Nightmareman99

Yeah the film can about from the idea of “what if a gun had a soul and didn’t want to be a gun” I wouldn’t say it’s a straight up anti gun film but it has those ideas the director wrote the film (based on a 1960s book) as a memorial to his sister who died to gun violence.

Nightmareman99

Yeah man I pushed that shit far back in the recesses of my memory

KingofYokai

The Brave Little Toaster is a real movie. With sequels. The Brave Little Toaster Goes to Mars is an actual thing.

Ivaldi

Vin Diesel as the Iron Giant. Cause everything always comes back to Family

Lythr0_Nax

He speaks the truth, Alicia. There is a brave little toaster trilogy.

Bloodredtyrant

Can't go back to therapy if you've never left!

dragon emperor ry

also yes you need to watch the brave little toaster and its sequels such a good series

Chamoun101

IT'S A DELETED SCENE! I know I saw this scene somewhere and could remember it vividly. I thought during the reaction I must have skipped it. 😅

Pool

I have to say you kinda giving up on Gurren Lagaan is disappointing. I won‘t explain why bc it would not make sense for where u are in the story

Speed1247

Nah they need him as the not even scapegoat as it's basically all his fault. So it's actually justified to place the blame on him. (imagine the national and international news on this, the US launched a nuke at their own town, even if the rest is covered up that nuke can't be)

JWagsWasHere

Yes!!! Watch the Brave Little Toaster!!

F0ZYWOLF

Have we watched The Land Before Time yet?

ChaotixInsanity

This is one of the best classics, never fails to make me cry and I love it

Zetswe Nox

The Brave little toaster is amazing

Soul

Brave Little Toaster is real. Kids movies in the 80's and 90's are on drugs.

Ja’Maine Lee

im eating fries with caramel on them

Liadryn

A VHS of this movie is propping up one of my monitors (don't ask). So I feel I have to recommend the other 3 tapes that are with it: Small Soldiers and Inspector Gadget 1 & 2.

Lynn

Welp, time to cry!

Lynn

Not only is The Brave Little Toaster a real animated kids movie, it's also to this day one of the most unapologetically depressing movies I've ever seen even as an adult. I don't know what the writer was going through at that point in their life but I hope they got the help they needed because OH MY GOD. If (when?? :D) you do decide to react to it, you might want to start with a self-harm content warning. I am not even kidding.

Sonictheag

the song were the best, or any don bluth animated film

ACVIFOR

All i remember is the clown. I could never forget that face...

Crawlingchaos03

It's a blur about the Brave Little Toaster... but it is real. I believe there is a director's cut. Maybe Who Framed Roger Rabbit next? Also, Small Solider a good one to watch as well.

Crawlingchaos03

During the time she was watching Gurren Lagaan she was sick for a good while, and then the hack happened. Also, March has a lot of things going. She got a lot on her plate; I'd rather not rush it. Alica does a lot for all of us. We shouldn't rush into things.

DanceSnapple

Something that's confusing is, taking the lessons in depth means less anti gun and more responsible gun use when you consider the Superman/Atamo comparison. ANTI Gun would be if you were against both, but the giant wants to be superman. I think the use of the gun metaphor is dumbed down for the plot, which makes the two metaphors clash. The movie says overtly Guns kill. Meanwhile the thing that's equated to guns is depicted acting responsibly and heroically. To say you want to be like/choose to be Superman is literally the responsible gun overship message, which doesn't count as anti gun. But, 10/10 film. That hang up for me isn't worth taking off a point.

Lucifer 669

Golem. This was the first movie I ever saw in theaters. I was 3-4, so it traumatized me.

Unstablebeast

He is infact not lying about Brave little toaster, I had it on VHS it is definitely a childhood trauma movie, and its great

Vloddamick

Run. Absolutely terrifying.

Lucifer 669

Brad Bird lost family to gun violence before he started making this movie. I think it was his daughter, but I don't know for certain. The premise he decided for this movie was literally "What if a gun didn't want to be a gun?" Edit: Maybe it's because I haven't seen the film in years, but I never realized how *good* of a villain Mansley is. He's genuinely creepy and sleazy from his first appearance, and he just gets more and more sinister as the story progresses. And can we talk about how few male artists like Dean exist in fiction? The only other one I can think of is Yusuke from Persona 5.

cyberspacecat

🗣️ "It's bad to kill.. but it's not bad to die" - I forgot about that line, god damn

HellhoundDex

The special edition of The Iron Giant includes a fully animated deleted scene of the Giant’s nightmare revealing that he actually came from Mars and was programmed to destroy the Earth and the Giant’s nightmare interfered with Dean’s TV signal and he witnessed the whole thing and that’s why when he first saw the Giant attacking Hogarth he immediately knew what was happening.

cyberspacecat

This film was a little rougher round the edges than I remembered it being - not the content but some of the production, like the audio quality and some parts of the animation, but it still got me emotional, it's a true classic!

Sarah Conor

Funny enough, I've never seen the original Brave Little Toaster, but I have seen The Brave Little Toaster Goes To Mars

CosmicRaven

I wish Treasure Planet is on her list. such a good movie, that and Atlantis and quest for Camelot, and Sinbad legend of the seven seas. all underrated movies

Sev the Hollow

All I member is the clown and the car disposal plant song

Christian Dixson

Such a good movie. Animation just doesn't touch why people used to produce.

cyberspacecat

I remember loooving Treasure Planet, really inspired setting

Lucifer 669

Rewatching this makes me upset over how wasted Vin Diesel was as Groot. The emotion in his voice as the Giant is incredible.

Lucifer 669

They wouldn't even need to lie about what happened, honestly. "Agent Kent Mansley stoked irrational fear and paranoia, resulting in a nuclear strike on the town of Rockwell, USA." Sure, removing the Giant is technically a lie of omission, but honestly, it's hardly needed in the context.

Aliulo

Brave Little Toaster is REAL and it is GOATED.

Shayne Webb

I'd like to think that Mansley was sentenced to death by firing squad for nearly nuking a town on American soil. I'm turning 32 in two weeks and no matter how many times I watched this over the years, I always cry ugly tears when the Giant goes to tank the bomb and declares himself Superman

Aqua Lantern

gotta love a classic Brad Bird film like this, what a legend. He also did some GREAT work at Pixar, with Ratatouille and The Incredibles

masteroftheassassins

Yes, the Brave Little Toaster is a real movie and it's a great movie.

Gasket

Fun fact: director Brad Bird began work on the film while grappling with the death of his sister, who was shot and killed by her estranged husband. The pitch given to the studio was "What if a gun had a soul, and didn't want to be a gun anymore."

Joseph

Brave little toaster is legit, and trauma. But legit.

bismuthalienated

I never really thought about it, but Hogarth did causally drug an actual Government agent. Though he did deserve it.

dz1jgmeyer

I've said for a long time, the Iron Giant is the best Superman Movie. Because it's all about the ideals that character stands for, and the hope and courage that idea inspires. 11/10

Cameron Meow

Geat movie! But since it's 1957 that government agent is probably German

Domier

I don't think I was born around the time this movie was still popular but I did some research and turns out that the Iron giant is actually just a scout from an entire army of bigger and more deadly planet conquering/destroying robots. So, if by some miracle that nuke did actually destroyed Iron Giant it would send out a beacon for others to come, and earth would've even more royally fucked than when the bump on Iron Giant's head was fixed.

KoG Goku

Brave Little Toaster is a great movie

Oatmeal

Another instance of Superman being so great that inspires a *gun* to not kill just to kill

Julio Castillo

Is no wonder why this movie is amazing... it was directed by Brad Bird, the same guy who directed masterpieces such as The Incredibles and Ratatouille. And this was his first big film too.

LittleMoist

as a train conductor, while hitting the giants head would certainly rock the cab around, they definitely saw it coming and wouldve been able to brace enough to be fine, with only minor to moderate injury. the sheer weight and speed of the locomotive, not to mention the rest of the train, definitely won the fight against the giant

Daniel Jones

Question for the comments: how can we prove to Alicia that The Brave Little Toaster is a real movie without sharing links?

Daniel Jones

Genuinely, the best Superman movie.

Darchangel

It showed up as a suggestion at the end there, but Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole is another immensely fantastic movie, but severely underrated and unknown!

Noah 97

and now she watch's the brave little toaster

Cameron Sunken

Now she needs to watch The Wild Robot

REI

Best part of Multiverse in trailers was Iron Giant meeting Superman. Iron Giant is also in Ready Player One. Yeah, Vin Diesel wasn't always a big actor. This movie came out one year before his breakout, big role in Pitch Black. It's also why he was strongly considered for Groot. Big, heartwarming Guy with limited lines.

Thatlolyisaspy

no hes not joshing, brave little toaster is a real movie, its one of my favorites, very nostalgic, this one too, the end makes me cries

Jesse

i love this movie. glad you watched it. i simply need to say that "the brave little toaster" is absolutely a trauma movie. i loved it as a smol boi

ItzNova

So The Iron Giant isn't directly a DC Character. The movie was produced by Warner Bros who own DC Comics. They are known to sprinkle some of their other properties around in works that aren't directly related to the DC Universe. Still really cool even if not directly part of DC! :)

Jesse

i already commented but i feel its important to say. the director of this movie had a sister that was killed in a domestic violence incident involving a gun and he wanted to make a movie with the premise "What if a gun had a soul and didn't want to be a gun?" and that led to the main message being "you are who you choose to be"

One G. O A. T. One Dream

I dont consider this a "anti-gun" but a "anti-war" story. And even then, it is what you want to read into it. I freaking love the Iron giants war form, and notice how the head bumb gets fixed right before he starts going berserk. it imply that the iron giant was alien weapon made to destroy but lost his memory when he fell to earth. And on a final note, he clearly took the missile head on, because shooting was not what he wanted to be, he was not a gun, he was supermand.

One G. O A. T. One Dream

who ever designed the Iron Giants war form is legendary, it for me still stands as probably the scariest + coolest killer robots. The way the blast made a tank vanish and had blast size that could take out a town in one go. The way the 3 tentacle arms came out and began some War Of the World type shi. with some of the coolest laser guns there is.

Boalex123

Oh please watch the brave little toaster. It was one of my favorites growing up.

MrPoseidon

There was some extra 'deleted' scenes for the 2015 signature edition of the Iron Giant movie showing that he as part of a scout force to come destroy the world. Lots of people dont like it, but I think its an incredible backing to the "You are who you choose to be" trope.

Taithos

this movie is just more proof that 90s movies are just on a whole other lvl.

Adam

incidentally if you watch closely, Rogard is a badass and is actually hitting those tentacles with his sidearm to prevent them from targeting his men.

AuxOx

Brad Bird is a legend. This is just one example of why it's people like him that Disney and Warner Bros are where they are today. It's sad that a part of his work today is remembered by cheap usage of The Incredibles for the Contemporary Resort and other references Disney couldn't care less about except money. also the production of this film is wild to read about. This film absolutely should have failed, and it kinda did with a bad theatrical release, but Brad Bird fought extremely hard for Warner Bros not to ruin this movie with stupid logos and forced iconography for merchandise sales. He and the team were given an insanely short amount of time but they all made it work because Brad listened and had everyone's input while making the movie and he did what he could to adapt the original story while making it fit the movie.

Demon Slayer

No, he's telling the truth, there ARE animated kids films by the name "The Brave Little Toaster". They DO INDEED exist.

The_Wiz_Mondread

I still remember the B.L.T. movie, and though i know it became a trilogy, I've never sought out the other 2 films, but yeah, they do exist, and the 3rd does have to do with the group going to Mars.

Teddy Scott

Dean’s the goat for real

River

It is not an anti-gun movie.. please... It is more of a "don't judge a book by it's cover" and the morality of said thing.

Morten Storvik

The director`s sister was literally killed by gun-violence by her husband, leading to the inspiration of the movie. The whole idea was: "What if a gun had a soul and decided it did not want to be a gun." It is most definitely an anti-gun movie.

danman14125

seeing this, it is amazing how bad movies have gotten in the modern day

NIghtshroud

Not going lie a Brave little Toaster reaction would be fire.

Prof Holly

The Iron Giant is one of the reasons I dislike Ready Player One. The Iron Giant's thing in this movie is, "I don't want to be a gun/weapon. I don't want to fight" The Iron Giant could have easily destroyed the missile with his far superior weapons and been completely fine, but he didn't because, again, he didn't want to fight and be a weapon. What is he in Ready Player One? A big weapon, freely pulling out his giant arm cannon and laser eyes to fight.

Maddie

wtf, The Brave Little Toaster is real hehehe, there The Brave Little Toaster, The Brave Little Toaster to the Rescue, The Brave Little Toaster Goes to Mars, why the fuck is this little toaster going to mars

JWagsWasHere

No he is not messing with you. The Brave Little Toaster is a masterpiece. You need to see all of them.

Adam

it's literally consistently an anti-gun movie.

Adam

There was never a time like that. You just don't like that you get called out on it nowadays because those people have a voice.

TessHKM

the giant is a gun who is also jesus

Silver Blade

58:20 well, The robot symbolises technology and automation. and it's more about wether or not we use technology to just make more weapons or as the movie later shows us - do we use it to save people from harm? it can be used for both, in situations when we're compromised we may be emotionally weak and give in to destruction but we need to keep evaluating technology and use it for good.
