Hey Alicia idk if anyone has mentioned this but I would highly recommend you check out the “witch cult translation: cut content” website as it fills in stuff not shown in the anime. Some of the stuff is crucial to the story and some isn’t. They have episode checkpoints and spoiler hides. If you do check it out for season 1 each anime episode is worth 2 episode counters on the site (as they were an hour each). I know some creators have made videos going over the info and theorizing. Just a recommend, looking forward to you getting back into Re:Zero! Such an underrated story.

Oh please tell me we won’t have to wait long for more! This Season is where things really start getting interesting (that’s not to say they didn’t in Season 1, but the first season was just a taste of this series flexing). There’s so many great reveals this season! Also besides Petelguese, the Archbishop of Gluttony is probably my favorite.

But "Who's Rem?" is not correct too. She says "remu tte... dare no koto?" where the "who" part is PURPOSEFULLY put at the end, otherwise the phrase just doesn't work in this scene, since Subaru freaked out only AFTER he heard the "who" part. So they tried to rephrase it, albeit it turned out not very smooth. I would translate it to: "Rem... who is it?" or "You said Rem... who are you referring to?"

Not to mention that the character clearly says "Rem" first and then waits some time to build the moment and suspense to deliver "who is it?" and the MOMENT she utters that, Subaru's face immediately reacts to her words....... gosh, it's just way too good

season 1 ending by default didn't have the "who's rem" moment because they probably weren't sure if they're getting a second season, so they ended it happier without the cliff hanger. the director edition, the longer versions, took the Who's Rem starter of Season 2 and put it at end of Season 1 as intended for a better cliffhanger and so that season 2 starts with a clear motive.

Nah, even in the light novels, it's not yet revealed why Subaru can remember those who are erased by glutony's power (both the archbishop's authority and the whale's fog). The leading theory is that the return by death ability can somehow prevent glutony's power from removing the erased from his memories.

"crucial" is debatable. They always reveal enough in the anime to both understand current events at least in the scope around our protag and they leave enough open for future revelations so that the suspense stays on point. yeah there's cut content and a lot of it is cool and adds lore... but it isn't "crucial" to understand teh stuff that the anime does show us, unless you want potential spoilers

I didn’t say it was crucial for her to watch/understand. I said it has stuff that is or will be important (ergo “crucial”) to the story. I only heard and got into it after watching Freshest Anime’s reactions to said cut content. It completely recontextualized characters for me and is very good if you want to theorize and predict things and understand certain moments. It is totally a lore thing, but I think Alicia might like taking 20 or so minutes to check out some of the stuff she missed and make her crackpot (and sometimes scarily accurate) predictions.

I love the lounge discussion part of the episode so much. Felis's concerns for Crusch's safety are understandable and it hurts to see him so upset and sad. Despite Crusch losing her memories, she's never changed at the core. She makes him apologize for slandering Emilia and wants to chart her own course in life. Her holding Felis' hands as he cries his heart out made me cry too! Emilia assuring Subaru she'll save him this time, turning around to let him cry and then still with her eyes closed hugging him!!!! Aaaaaaah! My heart!!

on April 1st the author like to do what if stories where Subaru does abuse his Return by Death ability. It never ends well. He almost always becomes a huge villain. Or a Harem protag
