Christopher Lovejoy

Ah, this was the episode of Steven Universe Future that made me realize exactly where it was going...

Paeve

And if it's not clear in this one... the next one exists

Agent D.5

Steven saying "When did this happen? I didn't see any of this" always makes me sad. This poor boy has been helping and being a part of everyones lifes for so long and so often that he started to feel like it's something he has to do all the time. In his mind he burdened himself with the responcibility to be there for everyone to help them with their decisions and problems. This episode touches on the issue perfectly and I can't express the respect and love I have for Rebbeca Sugar, her courage and writing of this show are so mature and understanding of the topics. Knowing when to let the scene play out without interrupting it with a gag or a joke.

And so begins Steven’s journey of …. Processing. If you know, you know. By the way, can anyone tell me what was that instrument that Shep played?

Steven Universe may be over, but last year, Rebecca announced the spin-off show "Lars of the Stars" that's going to follow Lars and the off colors in their space adventures. No new info has come out yet, but I hope you react to it when it releases.

This felt like such a middle finger to all the fans who wanted Sadie and Lars when it was finally possible.

I’m already so hyped for it!

SHEP: Sadie's Human Emotional Partner Can change Human for Healthy

An Electronic Wind Instrument. Sometimes just EWI to be less clinical

I am SO freakin' stoked for Alicia to get to the rest of the season. To way to approaches shows and discusses them, I think she's gonna love the places it goes. Can't recall another show that has such an introspective take on it's main characters

Sam Smith

Oh wow that was awkward steven. honestly i felt the lars x sadie thing was over after the island and even moreso when Lars became undead.

This episode also tackle the core issue of the Steven universe show. The Steven universe part. Prior this episode any real progress any character made has been witnessed by Steven, We don't get to have a stand off episode from another character. So ofc Steven is surpriced when that rule gets broken

Wumpafruit

Steven Universe Future is like 1 giant Steven Universe episode where instead of working on a side character's issues, the side characters need to work on Steven's issues.

Nick

man i need some sleep because is read "Sadie's Human Emotional Panther"

Coryn Silver

Lars's "oh geez" was the biggest fucking mood

Death did wonders for Lars' character arc

Waistband Hiker

Did they reference and jab the Steven only perspective thing?

tfw your "love language" is acts of service and eventually everyone stops needing you. like if u can relate 😔

scatman's world

This is what I call the start of the psychotic break arc

Okarun

wouldn't be the first time is crazy, lars literally died for steven once!!!

Egregore

But Shep is SO much better for her.

Matrim

Steven Universe was about Steven learning to be a gem. Steven Universe Future is about Steven learning to be human.

TrueTgirl

The fact that Steven genuinely did not think his feeling were what caused the dome has kills me because he's so used to helping others with their problems but along the way he's completely lost touch with himself and his own feelings.

While i understand the message of this episode... and i agree that Lars and Sadie's relationship was too toxic.... It still infuriates me that we didn't get to see what led to their characters ending up where they are in this episode, y'know.... it's what the "Show, Don't Tell" saying is all about... and that this episode completely fails to accomplish. And no.... Steven making a comment on how he "didn't see any of this" and how that's a reference to the audience not seeing Lars and Sadie's development because Steven is our POV character... doesn't suddenly make it good just because it's Self-aware. The original show made us so invested in Lars and Sadie's relationship that... concluding their character arcs off-screen and trying to pass it as a sort of meta-lesson feels cheap and even mocking to those in the audience who were so invested in these characters (me included). I keep coming back to a phrase i heard on a Youtube video sometime ago.... "Good Messages Don't Justify Bad Writing".

Ngl AS someone with like, abandonment issues, mostly with my sibling, since theyre the only person in my family I’ve ever felt any actual attachment to, this episode has always hit me so hard, especially with the “looking forward” song and Steven’s “except me, I’ll still be here” thing smh

Ok, no, there were sweaters for phones, but not as much jackets. Can you imagine the business you'd be able to do selling tiny versions of designer jackets for your phone to wear? That would do numbers on Instagram for like 4 months
