you know.....I WAS looking forward for when you started doing movie reactions again because all of the top redeemed Movie reactions were all the BEST movies ever created.....I was NOT expecting this absolute nightmare inducing movie XD

Miguel Aarón García

- "Oh nice, more Patreon content from Rat Queen! I wonder what has she uploaded" - It's Smile - "... uh oh" Jokes aside, this movie is PARTICULARLY HARD if you have any kind of self-harm thought. I've never had those, and I left the cinema sickened. Great movie tho.

Couchy !

Ooooooh snap! You doing smile 2 with fax next? These 2 movies are made by a dude who made a short film about a similar concept and they’re such good psychological horror!!

MinusZero88

I woke up this morning & saw the notification on Patreon from your new reaction thinking "OH! Alicia is doing another movie reaction I wonder what it could-" *reads "SMILE"* Me: "Oh shit... more nightmare fuel for us & her truma." *PTSD kicks in* >.>;' I've never seen Smile & I'm gonna probably regret it like I did with "Obsession". *nervously laughs* ^^;'

PurportedGrey

I gotta admit, I saw Smile as a notification and thought this was a text post about feeling good about yourself and smiling.🤣 Can't wait to watch the reaction after work!

Moviejunkie

Please watch more movies! 🍿

Savana Schmidt

As soon as I saw the cat I brought mine to cuddle.

Drago the dragon pokemon

Since its about to be halloween month in australia when i post this reply so. Im not really surprised on this

Katatonic-stranger

Damn, for a moment there I genuinely thought this was gonna be a reaction to Smile HD, the mlp animation 😂

Fei Ashtear

My first thought on how to beat the curse was being alone and doing it before it can take me over. It's neat that Alicia thought the same thing.

UltramanUltimo

Fun fact, the final scene with that THING was all practical, no CGI.

Wonkglorg

That's a titel I have not heard in a long time

PsyrinCall

what are you doing up so late mate? not like im any better.

Sabo

Oh, nice. Smile was a good movie. But Smile 2 is much better, i hope you watch it in the next time too.

Robert C. Dona

Yes!!! I love this movie!!! Also when I watched this with my older brother we both went "A - Train?!!" When the actor appeared.

dc

Oh yall DEFO need to do Smile 2 together next! It's SO GOOD

Hellguin

Just a heads up Alicia, a Kerosene lamp is great if you are in a place with heavy wi ters, my grandmother keeps a Kerosene lantern for winters in New England when her power goes out. I saw this movie blind and alone when it was in theaters, it was.... an experience. I was even the only one in the auditorium Smile 2 did good enough that Smile 3 is in development.

Virgil Polvani

I'm not a big fan of how little Alicia is taking the side of the VICTIM here... Like, the movie's whole thesis is what Rose says to her fiancee. People have mental health crises beyond their control, suffer in ways other people can't imagine, and most people respond by shelving them away, breaking with those relationships, locking people up and making them someone else's problem, because their love was conditional upon them being normal and uncomplicated. Like the ableist cops at the start. They just want to dismiss someone as crazy so they can stop listening. There's no attempt to understand, there's no sympathy. It's too difficult to deal with them, so they don't. Part of marriage says "in sickness or in health," but Rose's man didn't have the character to stick through it with her. Everyone put their walls up, filed her away, threw her away like a broken toy.

Ranginald Vagel

I thought I didn’t care about subs, but I did start feeling the absence keenly about 10 minutes in

Nightmareman99

Yeah you all need to react to the promotional material for the film. They would get people to stand in the background of live events, so street interviews and football stadiums just giving the creepiest smile they possible can. Never explaining till closer to release what it was for

King'sBard

When the Backrooms Trailer came out Alicia said she was gonna watch Iron Lung when it came to streaming, is that still planned? or has she and the council decided it would be too much for her Thalassophobia?

Kano Misogi

I can tell you guys are gonna love Smile 2

Afell Tale

For all my life growing up and even now myself as an adult- You always have a kerosene lamp in the garage. Mine is a Coleman and he has does work for a decade now.

Ranginald Vagel

Damn, Rose was hitting every wrong dialogue option. I enjoy her tragic inability to put herself in the perspective of others. She thinks no one is listening to her, but the one who can't hear herself is herself. She couldn't see through the walls she put around herself either. Also, them talking about who they would take out makes me wonder about what would happen if this thing made it into a warzone.

Nightmareman99

This is one of the horror flicks I did miss. Been on my list for years so excited to get around to it

GL Knight

Faxx: How many horror films have you seen? Alicia: ...Maybe 25? Me [way into the thousands for horror films alone]: Gotta pump those numbers up.

Baindrik Morgren

Horror movies are a weird thing for me nowadays. When I was a kid they were terrifying, and now as a jaded old piece of shit they are just 'eh'.

Eliteguard99

I love the irony that rose screamed "make yourself at fucking home!" at her therapist after she just barged into her friend's home and demanded things of him without asking to come in. Then she tried to do the same thing with her sister afterword lol

The Mask

you should totally check out the final destination movies after

Yolo Samurai

I'm actually surprised the second movie didn't do as well as the first. Its the better movie imo, but I can also see people being so traumatized by the first one that they decide not to watch the second 😂 Also, the guy who lived said that the kill to pass it on had to be messy and traumatizing for the witness, much like the others who committed suicide, so giving a homeless man drugs probably wouldn't cut it.

Vargr

what happened to bed rot besties, you guys just kinda vanished from the channel and theres been no word since about it, unless i missed something

TSP247

when i saw this in my notifications I thought you guys watched the 2012 Smiley from the title. ☹️. if you want a recommendation horror movie I would suggest the (Jack in a Box) horror trilogy.

Mmidnight Mistake

There are so many hidden secrets in this movie.. like the phone msgs and the profile picture of the people smiling.

MorbiDevi

I.... I have a kerosine lamp :(

Sun Yu

This movie drove poor Fax to tears. In all seriousness, this and its sequel are one of the best horror movies I've ever seen. Both of them really hammer home how mentally ill people are treated.

bruce lee

come on every pony smile smile smile, fill my heart up with sunshine sunshine. lol

Elias

These movies are a lot of fun. good work watching them and battling through the fear you two!! P.S I own some kerosene lamps... They are great for camping!

Snowy

yeah that's okay, I didn't need sleep tonight anyways

Okarun

You guys are the best at reacting to horror, DO MORE! It should be your thing this month! We have many ideas to what you should watch Alicia!

AngelGxbriel

This movies straight up took the smile from truth or dare

Barry ahtila-myers

This ending always crushes me. it’s just so cruel. The monster though? Amazing effects.

The Angel

Alicia saying she'd kill herself if she was in this situation is one of the most ridiculous things I've heard

Jayden

Watching yall about the rooms and the lights made me realize how good I'd be for a horror movie since I do the same thing (if I'm not in the room, lights stay off. Sometimes I'll have another room with a light on but not always). Wonderful reaction, both of you together for this reaction was absolute perfection. (Still had to skip the kids party scene I can't handle watching that scene in full).

Okarun

49:13 And here I thought she knew. Queen, kids feel like it's their fault, blaming themselves for not being good kids, we don't understand it at young age but y'know trauma does shit to people, y'know it. Kids blame themselves because they believe they weren't good enough for their parents.

nubite

You should check out cabin in the woods

John Playstation

My lifestyle of mostly being home alone might just hard counter this particular demon 😂

Lance Ivy

This whole movie is like drunk tank pink

Ja’Maine Lee

ive gotten scared from supernatrual myself but from the first episode is kinda wicked

Ja’Maine Lee

this does not instil me with confidence

Trix Regiis

Rose would not be safe and survive sround these 2 either its so sad, because yeah we actually sometimes do owe people stuff like mental health crisis help and not forced isolation skskskks

Okarun

1:18:49 Last thing queen, an entity took over her body and killed the cat, do you actually blame the woman here? Yeah it used her body but do you blame Yuji for what Sukuna did in Shibuya? That was cold lol i know she just said killing the cat was a small thing but don't blame her she'll literally die!

Mantis

Ikr like Rose was mourning Mustache’s death too she just had a whole lot of other shit to deal with so she couldn’t focus on it. Like imagine mourning the death of your pet that, in all intent and purposes, died outside of your control AND getting blamed for it 😭 despite literally going through this story in Rose’s perspective I don’t think there’s enough empathy for her here

Mantis

That being said looking at it from an outside perspective, the characters are acting totally believable and I think that’s the perspective these two are giving us. Like yeah, if I was in an outside perspective in this, I’d react the same way they’re talking about. It’s rough!!

Jacowab

yeah nah, i'll catch the next reaction, 20 minutes is enough of this.

Karatsuki

Was not expecting to see Mr. Turk Barrett himself, smuggler of all things illegall

Rokkettdog

*SPOILERS* It's neat that only one person at a time can be fully aware and actually interacted with...but the movie definitely lost me a bit once the therapist part happened. Ik it was set up when the patient at the start said it talks to you, saying stuff like "you're gonna die", but I was hoping it would only stick to at most trippy stuff like hearing someone you know down a dark corridor or the part with the false security call. The demon voice directly speaking to the her thru the therapist was kinda silly, and then the full on monster in the house at the end... Ik it's at least partly my bias but I much prefer subtle psychological horror. I liked the unreal moments where stuff happens or she goes somewhere only for it to have not happened or for her to have "blank" moments of time. I loved the atmospheric, very off putting, experimental soundtrack. The lollipop credits is a big cliché; would have been better if it was only the creepy track that follows afterwards. Cinematography was great. The jumpscares, while not the worst, really didn't need to be there :/ it's just cheap. The one with the sister at the car was definitely the best one and i'm at least glad there weren't accompanying loud stings. Acting was nice. Line reads quite good if a tad bland at sparse times. Overall, I enjoyed it. Concerned for the sequel, considering the direction this film took at the end and bc of the history of horror sequels....not having amazing track records... Horror tends to work for the better when it leaves you in suspense and ambiguity, buuut I suppose we'll see. For the record: I definitely do not consider myself a big movie buff at all. Haven't actually seen a load of em. However, from my experience of the horror genre, off the top of my head my favorite sequel to a scary film would go to Jeepers Creepers 2 (haven't seen the 3rd, nor do I expect too since I was satisfied with 2's ending and also didn't even know it existed till now lol)

I can absolutely understand Rose pushing away Joel because she was afraid of being too close to him, because that's what I do with people in general. If I feel like I'm becoming too close to someone, I just cut all ties, even if it's just as friends. And, to me, it's a natural reaction caused by a fear of being vulnerable around others because I hate who I am and I don't want others to see the real me. I'm not even a monster or a weirdo by anyone's standards, but the fear of being judged negatively by others is so deep within that I can't fight the urge to push people away. In Rose's case, it's the guilt she felt for letting her mother die that caused this behavior, she was probably afraid she'd eventually slip up, reveal it to Joel and that he'd be disgusted by her. I can understand how people who don't have that kind of mindset can find it hard to comprehend, but to me it's very much the exact way that I would act. And that's what makes her realistic from my perspective : she's written based on how someone in that exact situation would act. Clearly, some research was done to portray her in a way that makes sense considering what she went through.

Rokkettdog

The thing is when helping someone, you can only go so far before you're sacrificing yourself for only *a chance* that the person would improve. I also assume you've never had to deal with a family member/someone very close who brings everyone around them down. While the fiance in particular perhaps could have helped her more...what realistically could he have done? She (at least from everyone's perspective) killed their own cat, traumatized her nephew at his birthday, and was acting very irrational and dangerous to herself and anyone nearby. It's easy to feel for someone like that from a distance but much harder to act when you are directly involved. You put yourself at risk and have to tangle with the fact that no matter what you do (even if it would eventually help down the line) you'll be causing them anguish in the present.

Umbreeyoree

I'm a die... he's a die... she's a die... cause we're all dies. HEY! Sorry. That got stuck in my head when the guy was chanting to himself and had to let it out.
