This was one of the first animated children's shows on western television to tackle dark themes head-on. I do think it went too far in some places, but without it we probably wouldn't have any of that in kids' cartoons to this day. The demographic it was marketed towards is probably a little younger than the demographic it would be best to view, but it's still a masterpiece for sure.

Zuko's story is full of pain and Zhao wants to pile on for no real reason. Zhao is the worst kind of people.

I have a feeling that Zuko will be your favorite character by the end of the 3rd season (he was definitely mine).

In case you haven’t picked up on it yet, the different “bending styles” are all based on different forms of real world eastern martial arts. If I recall correctly, of what we’ve seen so far, firebending is based on a martial art known as “northern shaolin”, airbending is based on “baguazhang”, and the little bit we’ve seen of water is based on “Tai Chi”, because each of those styles suits the chararacter and tradition of the nations within the avatar world. They put in a lot of effort on research toward eastern culture and traditions for this show, it really boggles the mind how amazing this show is in the details of it all.

LMAO I love how fast you side with Zuko. Took me awhile to warm up to him personally
