While this episode isn't bad, Nickelodeon re-ran this one so many times (especially early on in the show's running) that a lot of us coming home from school collectively went "Ughh, this again?!" whenever it aired. I smile when I look back on this episode from how much we collectively dislike it just because of that lol I guess it was the most ideal Avatar episode for filling up single time slots given that the overall plot is ignored and it's own plot is completely self-contained. I remember how relieved I was, later in the show's running, whenever I saw the book 2 or 3 episode's recap JUST because I knew it couldn't be this one

Aang really scored a nat 20 on his Bluff roll here. xD

Winter Turnip

ya this resolution is fun and kinda fucked

Just for reference, many people (me included) call this the worst episode of avatar. Not that the episode is bad, is just worst compared to the rest. So it only gets better after this :D

I forgot the number of good Aang faces were here.

Though a fun episode when you watch through the series, this one is considered the weakest of the entire series. Season 1 was still a bit wobbly at this point. However, the next episode goes to great lengths to amend that. Still, I think it's a fun episode that's absolutely needed before next episode's heavy subjects.

I’m glad you pulled some kind of message from this episode!

I didn't know THIS was the next episode. I remembered this as my least favorite episode in the series. Now im a bit older and rewatching it, it's really not that bad. Kinda reminds me of old folk stories. Still, moving forward it just keeps getting better regardless 😄
