Gonna have to disagree. The friend zone definitely exists, but it really isn't the same as what it's usually described as - and is rarely done maliciously or on purpose.

Bit late and nobody will see this probably. But I guess you could say that the guy at Pompeii was cuming and going at the same time?

Technically Aang and Sokka would be the antivaxxers who went and did they're own research on the volcano while the village would be the vaxxers who listens to what someone told them(doctors) but points for trying

not too big a fan of fortune telling myself, tbh. not just because i don't believe in it, but more so because the very concept rubs me the wrong way. if someone could reliably read my fortune, that would mean that my future is already set in stone, no matter my own personal opinions or choices. it would mean that all my decisions and choices in life are ultimately absolutely meaningless, and that i have no say in my own life. that all i'm doing is play out the scenario that someone else decided for me. it's completely antithetical to the idea of free will and really not something i'm comfortable with on an fundamental level.

The funniest thing is, Aunt Wu, to this day, hasn't been wrong. The village wasn't destroyed (because the Gaang showed up), the man had a safe journey, Kitara did marry a powerful bender, it did rain, And Kitara is still alive and ready to have her great-grand babies. Her predictions are right, it's just that people she tells them to are misinterpreting things or doing things to try and force them to come true faster.

The ship is sinking! All aboard the friendship!

This reaffirms my decision to never trust fortune telling (even if I know it's 100% true)

I wouldn't say everyone knows Aang is the avatar and he's an airbender; the only fisherman that recognized him was a very old man. Airbenders haven't been around for 100 years after all, so I'd wager most people (who haven't seen the information coming from the Fire Nation that is) just don't know that the arrow tattoo means he's one of the supposedly extinct airbenders.

Hello, yes, your resident bait taker here. Just putting it out there, since we've decided to go there, a lot of """the science""" they told us about Covid turned out to be bullshit, and like half the """conspiracies""" turned out to be true. Fuckin' wild. The irony is that the "anti-vaxxers" are closer to Sokka's line of thought, not believing in the accepted sources at face value. I see the comparison you're going for, though. I'm pretty impressed by how you sussed out Aunt Wu though. I always knew she was full of it, even as a kid, but that's just because that's what the coding of the episode made me feel. I never even got to the point of considering how cognizant she was, being able to actually manipulate people into self-fulfilling prophecies through sheer meme's. That's pretty epic. If there's a lesson to be had here, I guess it's that some people can be right sometimes, but no one can be right all the time. So skepticism is healthy... until it's not... I guess? I'm really trying here.

Aang really went "these hands are rated E for Everyone," huh

I think Sokka could have a point with the "Don't be too nice." thing, in that Aang shouldn't shower a girl with what he thinks could be considered nice, in such a blind way that it would give the impression that he's not paying attention to the girl beyond wanting to seem nice. You know? Not exactly: "Be mean to / ignore the girls you like." and more: "Beyond just gifts and compliments, try to engage with people so you'll actually get to know them as people and not just love interests."
