This episode is one of those that I dislike the most. I actually like the vast majority of it, but I don't like how they ignore the fact aang literally threw dozens of people off the top of a mountain so tall it breaches over the clouds, and throws an avalanche at the rest. I don't mind that he is doing that tho. I mind how it's completely ignored that there is no chance that nobody died there and it renders the entire dilemma near the finale about not killing just stiupid, since aang obviously caused many deaths here.

A lot of people have some controversy about this episode because of what's happening now, but I think that they handled this episode really well. They did apologize to Aang for destroying parts his heritage. And no one said that Aang shouldn't have been angry at the whole thing and they even go above and beyond in showing it in a negative light. But at the same time we have to realize that they are an entire culture of people displaced by war. The dad found a secluded, abondon temple and tried to make life comfortable for them all to start over. The air benders have been gone for nearly 100 years and they were a desperate people. Yes, I do believe they could have had more tact, but at the same time we are always tearing down old buildings in place of new ones so, it's not that uncommon.

lol that youtube-patreon transition

One G. O A. T. One Dream

if legend of Kora had not been such a massive failure of writing, it could have explored how the air natation would return tho theis people who would relearn the airbending and start a new air nation. showing that while things change, regrowth can happen. but well... just my sour opinion.

Sokka's kill count just skyrocketed. "Look, they're retreating!" Yeah, the ones out of the blast zone.

Ah, the realization when she saw he couldnt walk. Whats the saying? Tradegy + Timing = Comedy

Nakama Forever

Sokka proving how resourceful he is even without bending powers. Felt really bad for the air temple though.

One thing I love about this show, specially on rewatches as an adult, is how many parallels and lessons about life during wartime there were in it, in episodes past we've already seen neighbours turning in neighbours like they did in occupied countries during ww2 (and obviously a ton of other wars), we've seen collaborators both willing and unwilling (like here), children who were raised by war becoming ruthless and desensitised like jet, prison camps, deserters, refugees and soooo much more. Like yeah, it's a kids show no doubt, but the background of war, specially as an adult, invokes so many thoughts and memories of real life conflicts, it is very well done.
