i know i am really really late here but for me book 3 had the highest highs but also far more lows than book 2 hard to choose a favorite

One aspect I really find satisfying in many different media, is fundamental beings/spirits/gods going ape shit and dishing out the divine punishment deserved. It's sad, but a satisfying cathartic moment of pure, uncorrupted strength and force of nature.

You're right, they are GREAT writers. And what's better, they had such confidence in their skill, that they did all this in good faith that CHILDREN would maintain all these details and be totally enthralled. And well, if they weren't, I guess you wouldn't be watching this huh? There are others who've reacted to this show as adults, like you. A common phrase among them is "There's no way this is a 'Kids Show'!" Can you believe it only gets better?

Hm, hard to say which one i liked more. I can not really rate one Book over the other, i can only do so with episodes. But there is a reason why people really like Book 2. You can start guessing why, and once its time, most of us will tell you. Actually, there are multiple reasons. But someone who reacts blindly to it, i wonder what your guesses are. Iro somehow traveled to the spirit world, and he is not even the avatar. That explains why he could see the spirit of Aang and Rokus Dragon

My personal favorite book is book 3, though I acknowledge that book 2 is probably the "best" season of the show (kinda like how it's generally agreed Spirited Away is the "best" Miyazaki film, but Princess Mononoke is my favorite). That all said, it's hard to say there's a bad episode of Avatar, let alone a bad season.

Zhao is such an idiot! There's no way those documents didn't mention the Spirits of the Moon (Tui) and Ocean (La) were companions. He's an admiral, his entire attack was by sea. Did he not think "Oh jeez murdering Tui is probably gonna make La angry". I loved that La stopped their attack on the Fire Nation the moment they saw the Moon was back. It showed La sought retribution but wasn't blinded by it. A small thing but I thought it was nice. As good as Season One is the Second Season is even better. Can't wait to dive into it! :)

I would say Book 2 has the better overall, more tightly written 'plot' but Book 3 has my personal favorite episodes

The Koh scene is still one of my favorites in the series as a world building element. it makes you realize there are some malicious spirits, that have some what personal agendas.
