Damn, looking back on this, Alicia and ant did the same thing, Alicia laughed when George died, and ant Iirc laughed when narancia face planted after abbachio died

This is the problem with anime in regards to falls and hallways in anime It is few panels long in the manga but when animated they suddenly become endless tunnels

"Are they gonna keep doing references?" insert any nervous meme

We love Robert E.O. "Warm your arm on my rock-hard abs" Speedwagon

Why the references? Because Hirohiko Araki fucking loves western music! He's like a reverse weeb, he loves making hilariously unsubtle references to western music! Jojo's is absolutely like a soap opera! Even more so, I'd say it's like pro wrestling. Intense melodrama, big muscular men with big emotions yelling at eachother and crying and I for one fucking love it. Fun thing about Dio's creepy growl, in the original Japanese manga it is written with roman characters as "WRYYY" (with varying number of Y's depending on how intense it's supposed to be) with a katakana clarification for Japanese readers that reads 「ウリイイイ」 or in romaji "uriii". I have never heard any proper explanation for this growl or why it's written like that, it seems like Araki just decided that's something that vampires say, I guess? The colors are super cool. David Production, the studio behind the anime clearly looked at Araki's official color illustrations where he's stated that he doesn't really care about making charcters have consistent or realistic color schemes but mostly just about the color composition of each individual image, leading to a lot of characters having entriely different, wild colorhemes in different drawings even while wearing the same outfit.

George Jojo RIP in piss🎉🎉🎉

YES ALICIA LAUGH. We all adore jojo’s mostly for just how fucking dumb a lot of it can get lmao. That and seeing the crazy shit araki comes up with

One of my favorite details of this adaptation is the fact that they kept all the continuity errors from the original manga. Jojos is a very loose story where it can vary depending on the authors whims and interests. He was a novice story writer when he wrote part 1 in 1987. So ofcourse there are errors and the story can feel clumsy but its gets better in retrospect so i love that the anime team decided to keep errors like the spear being insanely inconsistent.

Early Jojo's is 100% a over the top soap opera you got it right on the money

Aerosmith? In JoJo? Nah that would never happen.

Nina

I've seen a couple of times that people are confused whether they're supposed to take the show seriously or not. Obviously it's your choice but don't feel bad at all if you think (not saying you are, just IF) it's all clowny, cause it is and it's why we love it. Jojo is best enjoyed making fun of everything stupid that happens.

LampyLust

Speedwagon is best girl. I'm glad you're enjoying the absurdity of this series :3

MONDO

Hahah, lol Aerosmith would be a silly name, *wipes sweat*

Many major characters, abilities, and stands are all blatantly named after songs, bands, solo artists, singers, etc. that the author (Hirohiko Araki) likes. (Like Dio, named after the american heavy metal band - Dio)

When it comes to the story cohesiveness and low quality. That is reserved for Part 1 (Phantom Blood), Araki didn't really know where he wanted to go with the Manga originally and figured it out by Part 2. Thankfully Part 1 is short, however even with how campy it is you'll appreciate Part 1 later on. Something similar with quality happens in Part 3 where Araki wasn't sure how a certain mechanic should work but it gets fully ironed by Part 4 and expanded upon in Part 5. In my opinion only Part 1 and major issues where Part 3 just drags because of Araki not being sure about the mechanic. With the thing that happened with falling in the tower, is that the animators never decided to do the "pause for thoughts" thing; a majority of what was said was just in thought bubbles in the manga and were ment to be things that were thought quickly. Part 3 infamously ends up doing this again but they stop doing it by Part 4.
