Oh yeah, I learned that the Fox Devil who likes guys and lets the hot ones summon their head isn't gendered in the original, refering to them as "her" is another choice by the studio

Verdigree

Katana is the word for Sword, so the devil's name refers to all types of single-edged swords and not just the famous shape kind

Been waiting all day LFG..Thank u for the post (covid diagnosis here so gonna curl uo and watch)

twicefanatic

Bro really said two episodes of aot and aot is still nowhere to be found.

The letter makes me wonder how often Himeno talked about her previous partners to her family. She brought flowers to their graves every month according to her master, so Aki probably isn’t the first one to be brought up. I’m glad she at least seems to have had some emotional support from her family so her life wasn’t COMPLETELY awful

Finally officially introduced Kishibe, what a memorable entrance, nearly lives up to the manga but I still feel like some of the translations are a bit different. Regardless its awesome to see Kishibe he is exactly the type of mentor Power and Denji need especially after the increase in danger and power of their enemies. They need to get whipped into shape and this man is one tough unconventional mentor.

Ace Remy

I don’t recall the sword guy ever being named in the manga. I believe the fan base dubbed him Katanaman

Youmu Senju

Denji's condition is way more depressing than you described. This hit me hard in the manga. He's lost so much of his humanity that he can't even hold onto concern over his loss of humanity long enough to be upset about it. That's horrifying to me.

BlueSummer

our boy finally gets his introduction next ep. Even though he's in the OP. CSM has been stellar so far. Can't wait for some stuff that'll come up later on.

Zane

Denji calling Power Powy is sooo cute. That duo is the only thing holding me together rn😭

SapphireRose

Yeah everyone calls him Katana Man because he never gets an actual real name. I think the closest thing in the manga are people calling him Katana/Samurai Sword

Jack Frost

The easiest explanation between Longsword (or European swords in general) and Katana (or Japanese swords) is the forging technique. Katanas are single edged swords made through folding steel (Because japanese metal is basically scrap metal). Whereas Euro swords are typically double edged and are made through casting metal and layering it. There are also dozens of different subcategories based on size, location, style, culture, and more.

Odazzle Raz

they never out right call him katan devil but the fanbase just came to that consensus cuz it just makes sense, so everyone calls him katana man or katana devil

The scene of the lighter and the shot of Denji's smart manga character glasses sliding across the pavement are ones I figured your inner film geek would enjoy. I think that the "missing" thing this episode is that there's a gap that hasn't been resolved yet and it's a little harder to notice unless you look at the juxtaposition between the remaining character. Arai is dead & Kobeni is alive, but what's happening with them is totally out of scope of our characters' active awareness, with only the lingering struggle that Kobeni left at the end of last episode when saving Denji's torso. That means that this episode everyone knows the type of struggle that they're gonna be faced up against, which means facing the realities of their respective mortalities. For Aki, that means accepting that he's got only 2 years left to live and he's gonna have to sacrifice even more if he wants to have any powers he can use as a weapon. Simultaneously that exacerbates his awareness of Himeno's death and the extending scope of her mortality having an impact to multiple other people that connected to him in ways he never knew. Meanwhile, Denji is genuinely immortal, and power is psuedo-immortal, which means that they're getting murdered multiple times a day, every day. If they run, they get hunted for real, so this is the acceptable compromise that they have no choice but to accept. That's why the episode ends before we get a resolution that can bring Aki, Power, & Denji all back to the same operating squad that they were when they teamed up for the Eternity Devil. Looks like that'll be the main trajectory of next week's episode, but it does leave this one hanging feeling that not quite tense or cliffhanger sensation, but an empty unknown resolution that none of them can clearly perceive still.

I'm sad they didn't show us the Future Devil. The future is Best.

I think Kobeni's devil might be something related to luck maybe? A contract where she has an insane amount of "luck", but in exchange she can't tell anyone about it and loses all her confidence maybe? But idk, it's just a wild guess

Crome221

What you didn’t notice was……. That sensei took out both Denji and Power with a knife………….. BUT WAS ONLY USING ONE HAND…….. AND IT WAS THE 👏 LEFT 👏 HAND 👏…… ONLY!!!! 😱NOR DID HE EVEN USE A SINGLE CONTRACT YET?!?!?!

AyatoMisubi

you are right his name is Katana man so on point

NKT2112

fun fact: the teacher is based on actor Mads Mikkelsen and the voice actor is Nanami from jujutsu kaisen

Bob

Favourite anime is Cruel Angel's Thesis from Evangelion. Totally unlike anything else and there's an interesting juxtaposition between the lyrics and the music.

Zandorum

So it's negative in the outro because it's ment to be how a dog sees to represent denji.

Tachyon Fast

The animes been very true to the manga so far, so you’re not missing any crucial details. Whatever questions you may have will be answered. Awesome upload as always!
