"You guys will be my babies for now" Don't you already have enough people calling you Mommy as it is, Alicia?

Hunfleder

This is one of my favourite episodes, but also a bit special. One of my friends recommended me this series, but he got sick with covid while I was watching it. This was a few months before the vaccines were available, and he passed away from complication a few days after I got to this episode. During his last few weeks we talked about ATLA a lot. I love this series, but its kinda bittersweet for me.

"Iroh give me some funny happy moments!" Me already grabbing my tissues for the coming tears: Oh babs

Igor Chmurski

a poor farmer looking at his ruined crop field that some kid earthbended to turn into a zoo knowing his family is most likely going to face huge financial difficulties and possibly starvation this winter sure is convinient to ignore this episode.

Crazyone

It is rare for me to cry over stuff in shows, you already know what scene I'm going to mention when it comes to this episode. Does not matter how many times I have seen it, I still break into tears.

JHow

yeah, not too proud to admit i have tears in my eyes whenever i watch this episode. but, for how emotionally devastating it is, it is a great tribute to a great man. r.i.p., mako.

Winter Turnip

shook on Alicia's instant fear at seeing that tree *also sobbing*

Time for the saddest episode, SHE GONNA BALL

I have so many feelings about Uncle Iroh, how he's used his grief to turn away from being the man who jokes about burning a city down, and become the man who stops to help everyone within his reach. How he allows himself the full breadth of his grief, and isn't unmanly for doing so, but makes sure he doesn't allow it to take over other moments of his life. This Nickelodeon cartoon about elemental wizards sure hits hard with the life lessons.

AnubisRat

I knew it was coming. But every time...its painful no matter how many times I watch this episode.

Aiko

Man, watched one time, made me cry, watching again with Alicia made me cry, i skipped to the start because i though i would be okay, NO IT JUST MADE ME CRY AGAIN?!

KingStarscream 86

I think what you said about Zuko running from Jin is pretty accurate. However, I also think Zuko believed that he wasn't worthy of her affections because he's seen how the Fire Nation has affected the others, and he feels guilty about it even though he also wants his father's approval at the same time. I don't actually know that for sure, but I strongly feel that it's probably the case.

Toph and Katara this episode: “talk shit get hit And yes, the Iroh part of this episode hit everyone in the feels 😭 his old VA Mako passed away during the show’s production, so that’s who they were honoring at the end of the song

Youmu Senju

Alas! No subtitles this episode! But you are here, and this is what is most important! <3 EDIT: N/M you turned them on part way through! Thaaaaanks!

"Leaves from the Vine" was the last thing Mako Iwamatsu recorded for Avatar. He passed of esophageal cancer. While Iroh shows up later in the series, it's no longer Mako but Greg Baldwin. Fans have asked Greg to sing it, but he refuses to sing "Leaves from the Vine". "It's Mako's song...not mine." https://twitter.com/GregBaldwinIroh/status/1234133431795122177

This episode still makes me tear up on my own, but of course whenever you cry I cry haha. Thank you for the reactions. You’ve definitely become one of my favorite Vtubers to watch!!

Feels of Ba Sing Se

Don't worry, we will cry together

This one hurt us all. This episode really cemented Iroh as my favorite character in the show, and put him well on the way toward my favorite character in fiction. RIP Mako

The illustration of Iroh's son, Lu Ten, was drawn from one of Mako's actual early military service photos. The Tale of Iroh walks through the various phases of life, from infant/toddler (crying child) to adolescent (kids playing ball), to young adult (the would-be mugger), parenthood, and death. Iroh helped everyone on their path, but was unable to help his own son. This is why he abandoned the siege at Ba Sing Se, retired from the military, and fled to the Spirit World for a time.

oh boy, i'm getting the tissues out

Travis Boyett

i dont think your ready for the next ep.

I have seen Iroh's story probably over a 100 times since it first aired, and not once has it failed to make me ugly cry. Even just hearing the notes of the song will make me tear up. Its because this show does such an amazing job at making us care and respect these characters when we see them sad we feel it so much, and when we see Iroh the heart of the show break down in tears something he has never done before it hits like a fucking truck. So masterfully done easily the best 5 mins of television.

Kawaii Edgelord

I cry this episode every time, but since you were crying i was manically sob laughing with and at you. Thanks for the extreme effort you put into your reactions!

Sand Man

Thanks so much for posting such amazing content even while your not feeling well, You make every series so much more enjoyable.

Mako Iwamatsu was the original voice actor for Iroh (he also voiced Aku in Samurai Jack) but he passed away from cancer during season 2 and this episode was dedicated to him :(

Shifty

I can't even remember how many times I've seen it at this point, but Iroh's story still absolutely destroys me every time.

HeavenlyNoomba

Thank you for this episode. I love This episode ❤️❤️😭😭

Sacher Blackstone

I’m a few years shy of 40 & this episode makes me cry every time. Including this time, it hit hard.

Joey Cat

Definitely one of my favorites, great mix of emotional and funny content, thanks for the upload!

Rat#394

"Feeling unworthy of love?" - that hit right in the meow meow.

Zorndyke

"They cannot do this to me." - Alicia, they did that to ALL of us. And thank you for reminding me of the Samurai Pizza Cats. Real trip down memory lane :)

Nakama Forever

This episode is just so special. Not just the Iroh part but all of them. I love all these characters so getting to spend a whole episode just spending time in a city is so ❤️❤️❤️

Ed Ambriz

The tale of Iroh never fails to get some tears out of me. The next one is also big feels.

Isaac Steinway

I'm sure someone has already told you this in YouTube Comment section but Mako is the Voice actor of Iroh and he was terminally ill while singing Leaves From The Vine in the hospital. Also the picture of Iroh's Son is a Young version of Mako the Voice actor.
