basically the regeneration has limits, if the energy in the stone (their core) is exhausted they die for good Considering she was at one point literally blown to bits, I have a feeling it's probably the only way to kill her (that is to say, doing something like shooting at the stone while she had it exposed wouldn't have worked, it's probably indestructible)

Barry "died" when the seal was destroyed, 'cause his body was too decayed my guess is the body is connected to the soul, so when Barry's soul moved on the body became inoperable
