Welcome to our ’Jane's Mitts Series'!

We are so excited to return with the final 'Summer of Stitching' 2024 series! Starting today and then continuing throughout August, Kay will take you through every stage of creating 'Jane's Mitts' which she designed exclusively for this series. The first section of the pattern is attached to this post below. Along the way Kay will share with you some super exciting, brand new tips and tricks which she developed whilst creating this series.

In this first instalment, Kay welcomes you to the series, talks you through everything you'll need then shows you how to get started.

Join Kay as she:

  • Introduces you to the Jane’s Mitts and talks you through the inspiration behind the design

  • Shares with you her yarn choices for the two pairs she had made (so far….)

  • Discusses sizing of the mitts and how to make a bigger mitt if you need one

  • Shows you all the notions she will be using to knit ‘Jane’s Mitts’

  • Demonstrates how to cast on and join in the round

  • Talks you through and demonstrates how to avoid a jog on your cast on

  • Demonstrates how to knit the ribbing and start the texture pattern

  • You can find a full listing of all the materials used in this series here https://www.patreon.com/posts/summer-of-2024-104966061

  • The complete 'Jane's Mitts' pattern will be published with Part Two of this series on the 6th August 2024.

Have started looking for suitable yarn in my stash. Haven't bought any yarn this tear and intend to keep this up until all sweater quantities are used up. Left overs going into accessories.

I am so excited for these mitts. They are just so sweet. I do so love your tutorials Kay. Your thoughtful attention the details is so lovely, and so easy to follow. Unfortunately I have injured my hand and so I'm on a little knitting break. However I can't wait to cast these on once I can knit again! :) Yarn and needles at the ready!

Thank you, Kay. I’ve been looking forward to this all summer. My dad requested some warmer fingerless mitts so I’m using Blacker Swan DK in Tussac (dark green) and Pale Maiden (lighter grey). Looks great!

Whoo Hoo. Foggy, wet morning second day in a row. Seems like perfect timing here in Oz. Hugs WAHx

So last Wednesday, Ian had confirmed his Blood Cancer. Multiple Myeloma Stage 1. He found out that the prostate enlargement he had been investigating is Benign and that he doesn't have Prostate Cancer. Phew one is enough! He was told he will develop Peripheral Neuropathy in his hands as a result of the Chemotherapy. he turned to me and said" You'd better get knitting". So I did so much for concurrent information. Tomorrow the thumb instructions will be aired by Kay! I am up to date! Thanks kay and Dan.
