Folks, this is not some preaching session on what makes a good parent, oh no, this is Dan & Kay discussing their route into parenthood which was rather eventful!

I love hearing people’s birth stories. They are all different and prove there is no one “right” way to do things. I also love hearing people’s approach to parenting. In this day and age we are so inundated with how we should or shouldn’t do things. I do think for me parenting is the hardest journey I’ve ever taken but also the most rewarding. I worry so much about how I’m going to mess these two little humans up, but ultimately think all I can do is try my best to support them and teach them to be good humans.

Good for both of you following your instincts about what was/is best for your daughter throughout her life. It’s hard to tune out all the advice and stay in touch with what feels right in your situation. We have two sons, now adults who have survived and are thriving despite our parenting blunders. Both were happy-go-lucky kids, no tantrums, lots of friends, decent students, etc. One day our older son emerged from his room at age 14 a changed (not for the best) human. Ugh. As he tested limits, for the first time in his life, he did figure out his path to the future but it was arduous. Once he emerged from his adolescent funk, he returned to his wonderful self. Our second son, on the other hand, never had an oppositional day in his life. No adolescent angst. So......this is why blanket advice is not helpful. Each one is their own person and with patience, guidance and unconditional love, they should find their way.
