Welcome to our 'Favourite Places to Knit - Revisited' collection,

Today we start a very special journey. In 2015 after Dan recovered from his cancer treatment, we decided to try and take our location filming up a level. So in Episode 18 of 'The Bakery Bears Video Show' we published our first attempt at a properly produced location based 'show', 'Favourite Places to Knit' (FPTK). Starting today, once a month, we will take a look back at the episodes of FPTK:

  • Dan will re-edit them and we will publish them here in a series

  • Just like our Gold Editions of 'My Favourite Colourways' or 'Walking the Dales', this series will be available IN FULL to Gold & Platinum Patrons

  • Whenever we publish a new episode though, we will make it available for one month to Silver Patrons as well!

'Favourite Places to Knit' (FPTK) would run for the next three years and along the way we would learn a huge amount about picture quality, sound quality and of course production techniques. But this is the start of the journey! So please do forgive the wobbly camera work and the poor sound quality.

In todays first show in this very special series:

  • Join Dan, Kay & Bryony as they explore Piercebridge Roman Bridge and Piercebridge Roman Fort

  • Kay finds the slots in the foundation stones which used to hold up the 2,000 year old bridge

  • Kay finds the abutment which used to carry the Roman road, Dere Street, across the river

  • Dan and Kay explore the remains of the Vicus outside of Piercebridge Roman Fort

  • Kay uncovers some facts about knitting in Roman times

  • Dan explores the remains of the barrack blocks in Piercebridge Roman Fort

Catch up with the series so far:

Love love it. Technology at its best. I adore the The Roman history. I just wish, what they gave us was'nt then subsequently abandoned, as if they never came. I'm a newbie to your show , over the last few months Ive come to your show for balance and enjoyment and to knit a pair of socks however not the sandals, keep it coming. Love to you both xxxx

Oh my goodness. This was super fun Kay and Dan! And such a fab idea for a series - I'm really looking forward to seeing more... Congratulations to you both on your evolution as filmmakers... ✨ It occurs to me that something else really stands out about this episode... And that is that despite all your evolution, growth and success, the two of you haven't changed a bit. You are still just as warm, welcoming, friendly, funny and down to earth as you were in these early episodes... and you have a real gift for mixing knitting with history and exploring and stories... And I think it is the unique balance and combination of all this light and loveliness that makes us all so excited to see what you will create next! ✨ Congrats on the start of what I am sure will be a really wonderful series... 😊
