I've been waiting for your reaction for this one so that I can share the trauma a little! Oh, so many feelings for this one!

kerry

This episode completely destroyed me. I slept for four hours before I could watch the rest.

Frances

Same Jackie, music gets me in the feels, always!!!

Frances

Omg Jackie… if wish I could hug you right now 🥺🫂

Wiebke Kempa

I always saw the floor of the art room as Charlie‘s rock bottom and that Nick climbs down there with him and holds him made me cry already when I saw it in the trailer. And than the progression of Nick‘s and Tao‘s relationship. From Tao staring Nick down and threatening him in season 1, to sharing their fears and feelings in season 2 and now Tao just holding Nick is so beautiful 😭😭😭

Wiebke Kempa

I also really like that they kept the style of the books with the flashbacks, makes the episode extra special 😌

Brittney

Absolutely! Like one, we all are thinking the same thing. How can someone easily rewatch this season, especially for this episode, because how many times we have all cried. And two, yes seeing all this adaptated, seeing things we wasn't expecting and expecting, hearing the voice-overs, seeing first Nick's perspective which by the way holy shit Kit's acting in this episode was very heavy and emotionally like we can understand especially even more now why Nick doesn't want to be away from Charlie since if Charlie relapses again or something happens, and seeing how far away Charlie was that added even more emotional since they were always together but seeing that he knew Charlie needed the help it still was a lot for him so I can understand why he looked it up and so on. And then seeing Charlie's perspective, like how hard it was on him because he was shutting out everyone, not talking to everyone and then getting the help slowly trying to find himself while Geoff was telling Charlie the differences, and especially knowing like how Charlie really wanted to call Nick but he couldn't but I'm sure probably you know like Charlie probably did tell Nick how his time was like there and Nick telling Charlie the same thing. And that homevideo Tao did for Charlie, it just shows how important it is to have so many amazing people care about you and show support, and that kiss that was I'm pretty sure the same one from season 1 episode 3 where Nick and Charlie kissed for the first time. And oh my god that ending, like seeing Nick was still emotional like he knew Charlie was back but you could see how much it effected both of them in different but yet similar ways so thank you for the reaction, I can't wait to see the other 4 episodes reaction, but yeah this episode was the most heaviest for sure, but it definitely was amazing at destroying all of us

Dionne Lakey

I love Lucy Speed playing Susan in the clinic. I used to love watching her on Eastenders decades ago. Both her and Eddie Marsen have been getting love on twitter.

Olivia

yes i think the kiss at the clinic has the same music from their first kiss and as soon as i heard it i was crying again!

Olivia

easily one of the best episodes of heartstopper out of all 3 seasons, if not the best episode - everything about it was unbelievable from the writing to the music to the cinematography and give kit and joe every single award now, they were just out of this world!!!!

Prinsassy

Oh god, I'm not sure I'm brave enough to push the play Button... I was waiting for this one but now I'm a little bit scared.

Brittney
>>152361833

Episode 4 for sure had all of the feelings it was like our heart was shattering, reglued back together and keep shattering and kept getting back together like that's how it literally felt like but it was by far a great emotional raw episode that we all needed to see brought to life

Prinsassy
>>152361833

Really? I didn't noticed that. All these little details, unbelievable and so so special ❤️❤️

Brittney
>>152361833

Yeah it's wild, I find that you pick up a lot of things when you rewatch the show and especially when hear Black Friday by Tom Odell playing like I feel more this soundtrack was picking around everyone especially that song was more focusing with Charlie in a way if you really pay attention to the lyrics

Prinsassy
>>152365304

I made it. It was really tough this time... I have no words right now, this show.... Holy crab.

Charlie Baker

i knew Joe and Kit would surprise me this season but wow, their performance was incredible.

Ryan Walter

When I read the graphic novel, I wasn't sure how they would be able to translate that onto the screen but they did an amazing job. It made my feel all the feels when I watched it the first time. I needed a break between episodes 4 & 5.

Wiebke Kempa

As I said before, I planned on watching season 3 at least twice the day it came out, but I only managed to watch it once mainly because of this episode. This was my first time watching it again and I fully agree with you, I probably won‘t watch it that often because it is so good and I can‘t handle it 😢

Frances

I completely agree: The voice over was so good! Makes me hope even more that we get an audio book version of N&C by Kit and Joe ♥️🍂

Kurt Anderson

I have probably watched this episode a dozen times by now and I have never been able to get through it without crying my eyes out. This is the one that will be submitted for Emmy consideration

DrFlareon

I find Season 3 incredibly weak, especially the pacing. I don't know if it's because Euros Lyn did not direct this season. It feels different.. I haven't had any interest in watching it over again on my own like with Season 1 and 2. Apparently, I'm not the only one who feel this way, others have felt the same the way I feel, something feels off this season. But I am interest to see how you react to it.

AKelly

Your reactions are beautiful. I can’t get enough of your love for Heartstopper and all things Alice Oseman. You truly have the most thorough reactions and I love watching this show through your eyes. Thank you Jackie 🫶

Lane Wright

I think this episode shows exactly why I decided to watch an episode a day rather than trying to binge them. I absolutely agree that this is almost certainly the best episode of the series so far, and it’s hard to see how it could be topped. I have to admit I don’t get as emotional as many people do watching shows like this, or at least the emotions don’t manifest themselves in tears. But the moment with Nick and Tao in the hallway at the party really got to me. I love the way their relationship has changed from the first season to this one. And the masterful storytelling in this episode is truly incredible. If it was a gamble to change the way the story is told for this episode, it’s a gamble that absolutely paid off. And I think every time I’ve watched it (this reaction is at least the fourth time through) I’ve seen something new in it.

Mary

I've watched this episode twice now and I still cry but I was also crying watching you cry I love love love your reaction to hearstopper.

I totally agree! For the first season I watched every reaction I could find, for the second season I watched like 4 or 5 different reactions and now I can‘t watch any other reaction because Jackie is just the best! He is so authentic and full of love 🥰

Wiebke Kempa
>>152381630

I get what you mean. I didn’t feel the urge to watch it over and over again like I did with seasons 1 and 2. But I don‘t think it is because it is weak, I think it is because it tackles much darker and heavier themes than the previous seasons. I like season 3 a lot but I know for sure that I am not going to watch it 47 times 🫣

aniatka

Absolutely out of topic, watched first 30 sec of your reaction and I suggest a huge shoutout for the woman from the coffee shop. Hope she joined here and is watching your reactions with us. Ok, now I grab my tissues and let's gooooo ❤️

aniatka
>>152361519

To hug Jackie and to be hugged by the whole Jackie's Squad as well. Ok, Jackie, you don't need to be grateful - you have a name for your brand new foundation 🤗😇🫂❤️

aniatka

And one more thing I found very beautiful and important. Apart such a long way of Nick and Tao frendship and becoming so strong support system for each other, Nick brokes down wearing Capitan America costume. I see that as if a superhero could be emotional and vulnerable it means that everyone could. Alice and all, you are the best (as Jackie is) ❤️❤️❤️

Mare

You were everyone during the Tao/Nick scene 💔

Mare
>>152426435

Also, the use of music is brilliant in this show, but I love how that little scene barely has any. Kit and Will's acting speaks for itself.

Erin

Ok, it was good I didn’t watch that at work…this really is just an amazing episode, and it is hard to watch, but there are the moments of joy or happiness interspersed. It is perfection! The part at the party where Nick “escapes” and Tao comes, breaks me every time, because Nick and Charlie always want to escape parties together and Charlie wasn’t there (and now I am crying all over again) Now, little brother, it is time for me to have a little talk with you…you have already had a huge impact on this community, you have created a safe space people can go and be themselves, not be judged and find others who can lift them up, or guide them through something tough, or share a joyful story of something they did they are proud of. You are amazing, and you have an energy, a light that you put out in the world and that is amazing! Thank you!

lekka

i will rewatch this episode many more times because I am a masochist who likes to suffer. 🤡 But seriously, i love a good cathartic cry, and this episode captures the simultaneous beauty and pain of real human emotion and connection, incredibly portrayed by Kit & Joe. Multiple moments absolutely took my breath away. I honestly feel so lucky to be in a world where heartstopper exists.

nardos

yknow i am one of the insane people that binged this season and has rewatched several times (though still Nowhere near as much as s2 for obvious emotional reasons) and i think for me it was bc a lot of my big big emotions were just manifesting as deep genuine gratitude for this show and this episode especially if that makes sense. like i finished the ep and like through tears, could only think "im so glad this show exists for the people that need it" if that makes sense? but yeah no i definitwly had to take a Minute before i could power through the tears lmao. very thankful to get to relive it through ur eyes <33

>>152455682

also that nick and tao scene is MEAN and RUDE and im never forgiving alice for that /lh

MollyB

They way they brought the boys’ journals into this episode was everything. I love the journal entries in the books & when I saw this …. Just no words. Genius. Also, I cried way harder watching your reaction than even the first time I watched the episode. ♥️♥️

Steve Teeter

I know what you mean about the voice-overs. After 2-1/2 seasons of watching these people talk to each other, suddenly it feels as if first Nick and then Charlie are speaking DIRECTLY TO YOU!! That's what makes it feel so personal. That's what gives it its punch.

Charlie Cope

This is, without a doubt, the hardest I have cried at a piece of media. The music, the voiceovers, the hopeful, building feeling up to the hug at Nicks front door and the incredible performances by both Joe and Kit. It is absolutely beautiful, and as a 30 year old gay man, to see this sort of representation in main stream media makes me incredibly proud. Alice and the entire team should be so proud of themselves.

Kristi Paetznick

I just watched episode 4 for only the 2nd time. And I had to come share this with you and send you lots of virtual tissues. I've watched so many other reactions and yours are my favorites because you aren't afraid to be so vulnerable with us. We get it. We get you. ♥️

Nicky Van den Bosch

Jackie, being able to cry with you on this ep is all the commentary I need! and your thoughts at the end are everything! this is why you are my fav reactor! This show makes me want to do more too, be more involved in queer spaces and expand those!! This ep is both the hardest to watch and the absolute best Alice and team have ever done! It needs all the awards!!! the whole Halloween scene was just soooo sooo heart-wrenching to watch, esp after realizing Nick didn't have Charlie there to escape parties with, I cried my eyes out, and then Tao came ... I had to pause and cried for like an hour before I could continue. and yes, the voiceover truly worsens the whole scenes, but in a way they were comforting because they were formulated in the past, like they went thought this, but it is better in the time where the voiceovers are, it framed all of what they went through in a hopeful tomorrow-will-be-better sense, had the same feeling in the comics btw because of the similar journaling retrospective setting of it! Seeing Nick's perspective before charlies was also a struck of genius I recall to have loved in the comics as well! And Joe and Kit really truly shine!! They are soo freaking talented!!! Susan is all of us older audiences wishing we had this show when we were this age!! I am such a Susan stan btw! the video Tao made for Charlie is one of my fav scenes of the whole netflix show!!! This friendship group, the way they care and love each other is just soooo freaking beautiful!! (and we got too see nick's softest "hi charlie, I love you" twice!) Also realizing that I have been saying Geoff's name "ge-of" wrong the whole time hahahaha, why don't you say the o in it!?!?! OK I stop rambling now

Dennis Verner

From a cinematic point of view, this structure was brilliant. As to the amount of tears, I've watched the series by myself and with several of the other reviewers yours were absolutely just right. Now about episode 5, lighter? it's called Winter. I've read some of the books but not all so, I'm going to assume you are prepared? Yes...?

Reem

I made the colossal mistake of watching this episode (and episode 3) on the plane. Bawled my eyes out. I think one of the air crew almost wanted to come over to ask if I was OK.
