Making good progress on Episode 10. I'm focusing heavily on the renders to get as much as possible done before I go on holiday late this month. That way the bulk of the renders will be done when I continue development in August.

I've also had the opportunity to buy new hardware. I'm now the proud owner of two NVidia RTX 3090 GPUs, which were out of stock for a good while.

As I'm not much of a hardware guy, I naively though the two cards would fit in my current case without any modifications. Turns out a dual setup gets extremely hot (the top card does, because it sucks in all the heat from the bottom one).

I took one of the cards out and I'm now rendering on a single 3090 while I wait for new hardware to arrive. I decided to bite the bullet and ordered parts for a new system, including a water cooling loop from Alphacool. Here are some of the specs for those interested:

Motherboard: MSI MEG X570 GODLIKECPU: AMD Ryzen 9 5950XMemory: Corsair Vengeance RGB PRO 2 x 32GB 3600 MhzStorage: Samsung 980 PRO MZ-V8P2T0BW SSDStorage: 2x WD Ultrastar DC HC330 WUS721010AL5204 10TBGPU: 2x Gigabyte GeForce RTX 3090 Gaming OC 24GPSU: Seasonic Prime Ultra Platinum 1300Case: Corsair Obsidian Series 1000D - Super-Tower

My current system with the 2080ti and Titan Xp will probably serve as a render machine for animations. It's probably going to take me a while to assemble this thing, but I'm already quite excited for someone who isn't really into hardware...

REALLY awesome hardware setup, will def be a beast, those 32gb per. Stick ddr4 ram are a nice bit of kit man. Cause also with what you do, it allows upgrading later on 64gb of ram which is freaking awesome just an fyi, those sticks at high speeds can be finicky, just go as high on the ram speed as your fclk to keep it 1:1 for Ryzen 1:1 is almost always the best example 1800mhz flck 3600mhz ddr4 or even better 1900 fclk and 3800mhz ddr4 would wake that 5950x right up :)

So is your water cooling loop going to do both GPU's and the CPU? That is a nice case Corsair makes, spendy but nice. You might want to look at Phanteks full tower. it's sweet.

Using stock CPU heatsink/fan assembly? I'm always on the fence about that aspect of my new PC builds. Now that I see some motherboards have preinstalled IO shielding I need my next MB to have that. I hate installing those tin foil flimsy shields with the tabs that always get bent the wrong way while trying to jam the MB in there. It's a mess.
