Chapter 89 - Heart of Flame Atromach King (Patreon)

In fact, both Gotrik and Valkorion observed the vault doors opening and were rather excited about what they could find inside. It was more than evident that the Vault should hold some really precious things, but as soon as the doors opened, their anticipation was short-lived.
The Vault, while being a giant room, was totally empty without a single thing... There was no coin, no gold bar, no piece of jewelry, and no aside from one colossal stone block in the middle of the vault room that was levitating there.
Inscribed with various Arcane Runes, it was suspended in the air and pulsating with waves of great power. Aside from the magically looking slob of rocks, there was nothing in the room that was saddening, disturbing, and mind-boggling at the same time.
But at the same thing, whatever was in the rock was most probably far more precious than they could imagine. If not, then it wouldn't be locked within the Vault and without anything else, so it was far more than clear that this was supposed to be one of the more precious objects to the Chaosflame Covenant.
Neither of the two of them spoke as Mellisandre stepped forward in front of the levitating rock treasure chest or whatever it was and put her right hand on one of the major Arcane Runes that were engraved on the stone surface.
Soon enough, the stone started shaking a bit before the previously blue lines of the runes changed color to Red, and the stone itself started melting before their very own eyes.
Not even two minutes later, the object for which they came was revealed, and the entire room was immediately filled with warmth... not only that, but it was becoming so hot to the point where it was rather uncomfortable, and even the dunes of the Orange Shore seemed to be rather cold compared to that.
Valkorion looked at the object, and it looked like...
Heart?
But contrary to what one might expect, it was flaming with intense flames, and what wasn't burning had the color of darkest black. From a certain point, it rather looked like burning charcoal, but the power it was releasing was something so oppressing that Valkorion and Gotrik were highly uncomfortable just by looking at the dammed thing.
"So... at what exactly are we looking?"
Valkorion couldn't contain his own curiosity as he looked at the fire heart that was encased in some sort of glass container.
"..."
Mellisandre stayed silent for a moment before she decided to explain what they came for, even though it wasn't any particular secret though. If one looked deep into the lore of the Chaosflame Covenant, one would be able to discern the truth rather easily.
"This is the Heart of the Flame Atromach King... a remnant after being that reached Sequence 1 and is a crucial ingredient for my Lord to reach the King of Angels."
Valkorion looked rather confused at the part because the name 'Flame Atromach' was rather familiar, but he couldn't really remember where he had heard it before.
"In the endless Cosmos of Aurbis, there are countless planes of existence, from the well-known mortal realm of Faerûn and the Divine Kingdoms of the Gods and other beings of Great Power to the mysterious Planes and Realms, or the mysteries of the Oblivion. The Flame Atromachs are species of Elemental Daedra native to Infernace, a collective realm full and made of lava and fire. They are seemingly made entirely of flame, and they are often familiars for the Beyonders of the Pathways related to fire, like the Lord of Light one. And most importantly, some of their body parts are crucial Extraordinary Ingredients for the Beyonders to make a Beyonder Potion."
Now that she was explaining, the realization hit Valkorion like a brick to the face because this was part of the Lore from The Elder Scrolls. Deadric Pricnes and all of that stuff made him coil in the place because those were beings of unimaginable powers and might.
At the same time, he wondered if the Deadric Princes were the equivalents of the Outer Gods in this world where he had been reincarnated to. If yes, then the situation had its own pros and cons.
Obviously, depending on the concrete Deadric Prince that had set his sight on Faerûn, not every one of them was evil or bad. Many were neutral and just minded their own business, while some were outright of positive alignment.
This would be a much better state than the Outer Deities from the canon of the Lord of the Mysteries, whose sole target was the corrupt world and to destroy it or whatever... their nefarious intentions for the world were far more than evident.
And while some of the Deadric Princes, like Molag Bal and Mehrunes Dagon, if they existed here, would be a very high pain in the ass, there were many with whom one could have rather good relationships and obtain benefits from.
"So you came for one of those things from the Outer Realms..."
Gotrik muttered because, as a member of the Slayer Cult, he was rather well informed about the Greater Cosmology of the Aurbis, something that only a very small number of factions among the Beyonders were doing.
Most preferred to keep the people in the dark, and knowledge like the existence of the Other Planes of Existence was typically known only to the Mid-Sequence Beyonders because, at that stage, many of the Beyonders would wander into the different Planes of Oblivion to hunt for Extraordinary Ingredients, Artifacts, treasures, and riches.
Meanwhile, Valkorion listened to everything as he was taking up the information with great zeal, as everything that he learned was priceless.
"Chaosflame Convent, at the peak of their power, controlled several of the Planes of Oblivion and exploited them for their resources. In the end, that was also one of the major reasons why they were so powerful and managed to produce a lot of powerful Beyonders from the Hunter Pathway... However, this also leads to their gradual decline, apparently because they managed to anger one of 'Them' who are ruling the Oblivion, and over time, they lost all of their holdings in the Aurbis and were slowly forced to retreat to the Faerûn. Not long after that, perhaps ten or fifteen years after, the entire Chaosflame Covenant perished here."
Valkorion guessed that 'Them' must be the Deadric Princes that she was talking about and yeah, if they managed to seriously offend one of such entities, then even with the protection of True God, they would be in very deep trouble.
Unfortunately, it seemed that Mellisandre wouldn't reveal anything else about that.
Which was somewhat disappointing because he wanted to know more. Valkorion realized that Mellisandre was very knowledgeable, far more than Beyonder of her Sequence should be, which was highly unnatural and suspicious at the same time.
Nevertheless, he learned another piece of information that would not let him sleep at night, but at the same time, he finally had somewhat confirmed the existence of the Outer Gods or their equivalent in this world.
This was something that was bothering him for a very long time.
