Chapter 97 - Slaves Acquired (Patreon)

Actually, every group of humans had their own predispositions due to the generations and generations of the Beyonders from the same Pathway appearing within a certain group of people and passing down their talents, genetics, and partial abilities.
For example, the Dothraki had a thing for the Pathway of their own God that they worshipped, the Great Stallion. Same for the Northerners of the Winter Kingdom in Westeros due to the influence of the Parthenon and the Faith of the Old Gods and the Primal Wild and Skyfather.
The Pathways of Barbarian and Viking were so predominant in the Winter Kingdom that there were zero to none of the other Beyonders, and Northerners had an extreme predisposition towards these two Pathways.
And there were countless other examples.
"I want Darius, Aertheos, Farron, Glinthron, that crazy Yordle, Kalrix, and Vessid plus that one hundred, as I mentioned. My offer is 25,000 Gold Dragon Coins."
Hearing Valkorion's offer made Watto choke on his spit, because these people were worth more just 25,000 Gold Dragon Coins. While the change of the slaves was always fluctuating and so, depending on the situation of the market and things that were affecting it the most, especially the wars and aftermath of the wars.
Sequence 7 Beyonder was usually being sold for around 2,000 Gold Dragon Coins on average, though some could be sold for even 2,500 Gold Dragon Coins, and the ones with special lineages even for 3,000 Gold Dragon Coins.
Sequence 6 Beyoynders were worth something between 5,000 Gold Dragon Coins to 7,000 Gold Dragon Coins, depending on the circumstances.
Even Camille knew that 25,000 Gold Dragon Coins was not a lot; it was a severe undervaluation of the merchandise, though she couldn't deny that she didn't enjoy that greedy Toydarian having almost a heart attack.
She would watch with amusement, and if it went to shit, then she would step in to help Valkorion in the negotiations.
"Are you crazy human? 70,000 Gold Dragon Coins and no coin less!"
Toydarian was rather enraged and was in total disbelief over such a low offer as he immediately started his very own counter-offer that was once again way out of the charts.
Valkorion knew the real value of the merchandise that he wanted to purchase was something around 40,000 Gold Dragon Coins to 50,000 Gold Dragon Coins. Obviously, he knew this from Camille Ferros, who whispered it to him the moment he finished choosing the slave he wanted to pursue.
Even though the Clan Ferros wasn't dealing with the slave business, Camille knew the prices very well and knew everything around them. Part of it was due to her own job and part due to the fact that Clan Ferros was very often buying a lot of slaves for their own devices.
Mainly to act as guards for their estates and shops, to protect their caravans. The talented ones were given freedom after some time and assimilated into the forces of the Clan Ferros.
It also created a rather strong sense of loyalty of the freed slaves towards the Clan Ferros.
Because they were the ones that gave them their freedom.
"35,000 Gold Dragon Coins, no coin less Watto... Camille told me that despite everything, you struggle to get customers, and these slaves could be here for a long time, so let me help you to put those worries away."
Valkorion stated the counter-offer, directly raising it by 10,000 Gold Dragon Coins, because he was planning to settle at the number of 40,000 Gold Dragon Coins, which is a maximum of 45,000 Gold Dragon Coins.
No coin more.
"Ts, are you taking me as a stupid boy? 60,000. You won't find better slaves in the Volantis and the surroundings even if you search yourself to death."
The Toydarian merchant flapped his wings in annoyance that he was forced to lower down the price.
"That's way above the market price, merchant Watto. 38,000 Gold Dragon Coins and I am doing you a favor by doing this."
The Toydarian was annoyed because he could see that he had encountered an equally greedy opponent, which wasn't really something good. It seemed that the negotiations would be hard, but Watto was determined to win the negotiation sat any cost.
"55,000."
"39,000."
"53,000."
"40,000."
"50,000. Final offer!"
Watto shouted at him as Valkorion grinned as Valkorion presented the counter-offer again.
He had something on his hand that Watto didn't have.
"42,000 Gold Dragon Coins. You know very well that with your prices, nobody will here and buy your merchandise en masse if they are not filthy rich types that don't care about money."
Valkorion knew that due to Watto's prices and greed, he had very specific clientele and he didn't really had a stable income.
According to Camille, Watto occasionally, from time to time, had some extremely filthy rich individual that would come and buy everything he had in stock, netting him sometimes even hundreds of thousands of Gold Dragon Coins, but that happened periodically once each six or seven months.
And during the other months, it was as bad as it could get.
"48,000 Gold Dragon Coins."
Even as much as he hated to admit it, Watto was forced to lower the offer once again. The Toydarian knew very well what the market price was, and he also knew very well that if he didn't sell these problematic ones, then it could take even more time.
Perhaps even years, because some of the slaves that Valkorion wanted to buy were the highly problematic ones that had their own issues.
"You know what, Watto? Let's make an agreement. 45,000 Gold Dragon Coins exactly, and for the next purchases, I will go to your store."
Valkorion proposed that the Toydarian merchant was really contemplating the situation because 45,000 Gold Dragon Coins was exactly in the middle of the market price, and it wasn't a bad deal.
At the same time, he would obtain a new customer, at least for a few future purchases, and he would get rid of the troublesome slaves that nobody wanted to buy, especially that psychotic Yordle.
Slave Crests didn't work on Yordles due to their racial characteristics.
"You got yourself a deal, human. But be aware that I only accept either Gold Dragon Coins certified by the Freehold or the cheques to the Iron Bank of Braavor or the Central Dragon Bank."
In the end, Watto agreed to the conditions because, at least this way, he would make a good amount of Gold Dragon Coins out of this entire ordeal, which was better than his initial expectations.
"Pleasure to do business with you, Watto. How long till the slaves are prepared?"
Valkorion said with a grin as he asked the flying Toydarian. It would take some time to prepare for the slaves for the transportation and change the ownership of the slaves to him exclusively.
"A few days would be enough. Come back three or four days later with a cheque, and I will give you the Command Crest."
Watto stated that he would need some time to finalize the deal and prepare everything necessary.
