It’s finally done. The mould (for expanding foam) came out fantastic. Will do some casts late this week.

Do you have any tips on hollowing out the base so you get a shell? I made one of these, but i made it octagonal as a cube and no notches. It will be challenging, but i think the strengt is needed for the foam expanding. Also did you run with no infill?

I used zbrush to extract the shell. It has infill but I also did additional walls for added strength. Each half is a bit over 1kg

Are you going to line the inside with resin or anything before trying the first cast? Super curious if the foam would stick to a 3D printed mold. This looks epic by the way!

Have coated the inside with wax as a release 😃. It’d definitely stick otherwise

I have also seen people have issues even with wax release. But maybe one needs several coatings?

If you're looking for mould release alternatives: - Scotchgard - Hairspray (the cheapest NASTIEST No-Frills ones are what peeps use for printer beds!) - WD-40 (might smell a bit, but it's easily washed off the foam once it goes inert)

tysm for the suggestions! I didn't really like using the candle wax it was a pain to have to reapply each time. I'll give these a go
