Not sure if anyone is interested in a non plush project but wanted to share some wip of my faux taxidermy lion. (Not 1:1)

Modelled in nomad sculpt, the front part was printed on my phenom L (resin printer) and the rear half was printed on my CR10 S4 (FDM printer).

I’ve epoxied the 2 halves together. Next up I’ll be prepping the fur for his mane and getting ready to mount him to a stand.

I'm definitely interested, I really miss all your WIP stuff where you describe the materials and techniques =D they're so interesting!

NazFX_Studios

I found that posting wip stuff would make people leave patreon more often 🥲. I miss posting wips

Calastor

Really??? That's crazy!!! Are you not here to see.. the progress??

NazFX_Studios

I think a lot of people want to just get a pattern they like and get out. Idk how many actually enjoy the progress type stuff anymore

Calastor

Man that's so weird, half the point of following artists is to see WIP stuff, it's so cool?? It's most of the recent I subscribed in the first place. I wonder what the results would be in a poll

Anna

I’m really interested in WIPS!

NazFX_Studios

Only about 1/4 of patrons actually engage in the feed content. Most are just here for patterns (which I’m fine with). It’s the 3/4 people that will leave when I post a lot of timeline stuff.

EggsMcGee

I had no idea you did this sort of thing too! I’m absolutely interested in sticking around for this

Calastor

I wish Patreon had like add-ons to add posts tagged as WIP or else for people to blacklist the same =( "the artist I support gives me too much content" is such a dumb reason to leave

Dragon Mountain Creations

I joined to learn from you!! I'm making my own patterns and it is so good to learn from your techniques, such a pity people are in a rush for everything and will not take advantage of your experience, maybe because I'm older than your average subscriber (57) but I appreciate WIPs. I also understand that you have the difficult task of keeping everybody happy :)

2026-11-07 19:00 This is amazing! This is the type of content I pledge for (AND your plush patterns as well). I’d love to see more, or if you start a separate page exclusively for wips whether it’s Patreon or Ko-fi, I’d be there! I’ve done faux taxidermy stuff in the past but using taxidermy foam bases that I sculpt and edit on. I’m curious what the pricing comparison is on making a base with this method compared to using a pre-molded one from a supplier. And the comparison of how much easier it is to instal eyes, jawset (if open) etc! Very fun to think of experimenting with and hope to see more on this project!

Oooh interesting! The material cost so far for this head is probably $60-70AUD (maybe 50usd?). Idk what a pre-moulded foam base costs?

NazFX_Studios

nice! I'm glad I'm saving a bit on cost. Might have to get another media in if I wanted to do the full shoulders (maybe carved expanding foam?)

2026-11-07 19:00 Not sure if these are available in your area, but I’ve seen people use foam board insulation from hardware stores! Might be a really good cheap alternative that doesn’t require a mold. Just layering up, glue and carving! Not to mention lightweight for wall hanging ;D

Wow! This is looking amazing!!

It's very similar to the material used for foam taxidermy bases, It's ideal, but may require a sanded coat of something to smooth the texture. Lots of people use drywall paste or PVA glue mixed with various other things. It's all pretty cheap. If you want to get a look at how to prep and paint insulation foam, the D&D terrain building Youtubes are a good start, they often have a basics videos series and working with foam is usually one of the videos. It shows how they seal it.

OH this is RIGHT up my alley. VERY excited to see progress shots of this, should you wish to share them. Or just some progress shots along with shots of the final thing. VERY cool. I've wanted to do a faux taxidermy werewolf for ages!

NazFX_Studios

I lost 5 patrons after posting this hahhahah :')

Arisaria

I'm always fascinated by your WIPs

Quint

This is incredible!

Bluebell

I want a faux taxidermy of a rattlesnake with a cowboy hat on this head

Needful Knacks

Omg this is so cool! I for one love WIP stuff!
