I LOVE THIS!! 😍 I’m not sure if anyone has reached the same level of fame and success as IU, BoA, and Younha yet, but there have been a couple of successful pure soloists who debuted after IU. To name a few, there’s Lee Hi, Ailee, Kwon Jinah, Heize, and of course, BIBI. Also, could it be Gyubin that Han was thinking of? Hmm 🤔

Thank you so much for reacting to this one! This episode felt really special to me as well (not only because I'm a big fan of both), it's riveting to watch two songwriters talk about their craft, and their dynamic is fascinating - I really loved how much they talked about the nuances of being a female soloist in the industry through the years and I really hope that it finally brought them closer

After watching this originally i fell into a Younha rabbit hole and never came out fully again. She debuted in Japan originally (although she is Korean) and got famous everywhere for singing "Houki Boshi" (or Comet in English), which was chosen as the ending song of the anime Bleach. Which was kind of a big deal for a non-Japanese singer to get. If you want to fall in love with young Younha, watch her live performance in Japanese of that in 2007 (i think?). She was soo young back then but already had those expressive eyes. She is a phenomenal piano player on top of all her talent as well.

watching you both look so shocked and dumbfounded during my sea really got to me 😂 so insane that someone could cover that song right in front of iu and casually be like “btw this is my gift to you” 😭 also to piggyback off of your comments, another thing that sometimes bothers me about palette is not having the english translation during the songs. it obviously sounds like younha is an amazing songwriter but new english speaking viewers don’t get to experience that without looking it up ourselves. and i also took that as a hint that aespa would appear on palette but alas here we are 10 months and 2 comebacks later 😭
