okay I’ll be that asshole and say it, Nmixx’s LOUD is objectively a bisexual anthem and calling it just “inclusive,” “like oh it’s for everyone,” is fully bi erasure, like theres literally nothing more Lily could’ve done in the lyrics to make it more clear and there’s no standard you wouldn’t say it’s “inclusive” rather than obviously queer.

Honestly we took the song as it being for anyone who loves anyone. All sexualities can relate to this song. A man who loves men, women who love women, women who love all genders, men who love women, etc. Anyone can listen to Loud and feel that they relate to it. We are not saying that bisexuals can't relate. We're saying bisexuals and EVERYONE else can relate. Saying bi erasure is really weird. (And also getting really tired of people accusing us of bi erasure when Kess identifies as bi btw) Inclusive = queer at the end of the day, because inclusivity implies that the queer community is involved. And YOU pushing that it's a 'bisexual anthem' is erasing the rest of the queer community.

typed out and deleted like four attempts at a reply. i’m bi too, but so what? of course people can relate, i can relate to explicitly gay songs because i’m a human with emotions, but i wouldnt try and say “oh its not gay, its inclusive.” can strongly empathise with the themes and messages of someone like kendrick lamar, but would never say “oh its not about being african american, its inclusive.” telling me that i think something is bi is erasing the rest of the queer community is insane. should i have not said anything?

Primeval, you're entitled to your opinion of course, but there are two principles at play at all time when appreciating and interpreting any kind of art that shouldn't really be controversial. First is possibly easiest said as 'death of the author' which is to say, the author/artist's intent doesn't matter if you can find something meaningful to you in a piece of art (any form). That's really the peak of artistic appreciation and why it's so powerful in all it's forms. We find ways it speaks to us and expresses our inner feelings. So if this song says those things to you, no one can take that away from you, but equally, by this standard, you can't contradict someone else's take either. Art is personal in that sense. Sure, crusty old art critics will argue for hours over the meaning of a single brush stroke, but for most people the impact to us is more obvious. The second is the writer's intent, and here we have direct correspondence from Lilly herself, a screenshot already shared around from her official Bubble chat: https://tinyurl.com/57ewnwuc I don't think there's any way to misinterpret that as not being inclusive. You're not wrong to say that Bi-erasure is a thing is some communities, but that is absolutely not what you're seeing here. Be happy you've found a song that resonates with you and makes you passionate about it's meaning. That's a good thing. But don't let your genuine frustrations from other places poison other communities either. You know better than that I'm sure. There are people to fight, but anger amongst your equals and allies is not the place start.

i’m sorry but death of the author is full on some academic BS invented by professors and YouTubers like John Green to be able to say whatever the hell they want. Without the author the art wouldn’t exist. I’m not gonna separate John Lennon from the Beatles, I’m not gonna separate Hitler from mein kampf. and obviously what Lily has to say publicly about the song is not what the song is about. Jhiyo said that cactus was about her cactus dying for Christ sakes. And beyond that, saying that I am erasing the rest of the queer community is fucking insulting. absolutely insane thing for them to say. notice how both the things you said should be uncontroversial. I find controversial. Again if I was to say for example that Kendrick Lamar’s music is about everyone because I subscribed to death of the author that would be wrong and immoral.
