I’d rather rewatch “Acquiel”. So cringey.

Better episodes to come…

Brian Salas

Best bad episode of the franchise. Absolutely hilarious. Love the Vader and McFly reference too. 11/10. Would light that candle.

Kaleigh

B for banger. For obvious reasons.

AQL

So bad it's terrible

ScotchBeard78

People that vote E-Tier on this have no soul or sense of humor. Sub-Rosa's a Beverly banger (pun intended). Too fun to hate.

Paul Rymer

It’s one of my favourites, at least it’s not boring and allows Crusher to be remembered as more than the dancing doctor

Actuarial Lurker

E- Tier: Beverly Crusher meets "The Ghost and Mrs Muir"- but the Silk Stalkings "soft core" porn cable TV version...

Alexander McKechnie

Solid E! Possibly worst episode of the series and high in the running for worst episode in the franchise. The whole idea of the ghost creature tagging along with this family since medieval times is silly. Picard letting himself in to Crusher's house while she's having a "private moment" and just quietly watching is gross, and all the guest actors are terrible. No thanks!

Badders

Ghostly serial shannigans. Crusher has sex with the same ghostly male her granny had been having for years! One of the most joyfully ludicrous stories ever. Hammy over acting from guest actors and even a corpse rising from the dead. It has it all!! So mad that it can't be erased from canon. D

Jason: The Lone Geek

It's definitely not good, but I can't give it an E. I love the fact that there's a Scottish planet out there in the future.

Ken R

Solid B. This to my knowledge is the most unfairly maligned episode since Turnabout Intruder

Doctor Pulaski

Is there any other Trek episode with such a high percentage in both S tier and E tier?

TinMan_7B9

Damn! Devastated (grand)Daughter Devours Diary Describing Dearly Departed Doing Dirty Deeds. Dazed Doctor Divulges Dreams During Dinner. Dumbfounded Deanna Deems Distasteful Descriptions Desirable. Disgusting! Delicious, Daft D.

valen

Leave it to women to never fail to come up with a story that involves sex with a dangerous character

Rob Nichols

I said S, just to be a dick.

Notebook Industries

It’s a B for me. The Camp value elevates it. Who wouldn’t want to inherit their very own Ghost 👻 Candle?

TinMan_7B9

Then you will "inherit" your very own GC alright.

HeatheЯ

Yes yes! I'm not only S! :D Take a goth romance and throw it into my favorite sci fi franchise, love it.

Chris Nunnally

I always avoided this episode on re-watches, but your review and now thinking that the campy, schlocky element might have been intentional makes me love it and a must see on re-watches. I went S!

Evan Guthrie

Despite its few merits, I cannot with good conscience give this bilge anything other than an E.

Doctor Pulaski

I think TA is joking, because RCV on a spectrum would just be “first choice S, second choice A, etc.” or the inverse “first choice E, second choice D, etc.”.

Gaming the Systems

Have to say S because it is an unintended comedy. Party material.

JMB

You know what, I'm going to give this a hot take B and that's b/c, this late into the series, TNG didn't need to take a risk like this, but they wanted to tell an old fashioned, gothic romantic horror-ish side story. I know this episode gets its hate (likely deserved b/c I, too, had this low on my list of the season and series), but looking back now, I like the story of a parasitic entity that had haunted the Howard women for generations upon generations and even if the way the parasitic entity haunted them feels like straight out of a tawdry romance novel, I've slowly come around to it (even if, of course, no one else needs to). Personally, I don't think this deserves to be on the same level with Shades of Gray (though that gets the pass of being a strike shortened season and a desperation episode), Code of Honor or even Aquiel. (edit: damn return being 'send/post' instead next line)

JMB

If it 's not a Scottish planet, it's cccrrrraaaappppp!!!

Calyxa

I'm still a YouTuber (will be signing up for your Patreon after I get back from my trip) and from reading comments here, it sounds like my opinion of the episode will most likely be changed by your reactions. looking forward to it!

Jovet

E— ! AWFUL! DISGRACEFUL! MISGUIDED! PREPOSTEROUS!!!

Jovet

Yeah, Patreon is tricky for that, takes some getting used to.

Jovet

🥊🥊 🛎️ ⚰️

Jovet

I don't believe it was intentional. There would have been smirks on the casts' faces at times.

Jovet

This is muff cabbage!

Jovet

I'd give it an F. Or actually a full 0 (zero).

Jovet

Definitely the worst of all TNG. Even though there are a few episodes I dislike even more.

Jovet

It would be fun if it were sillier. But it's earnest and serious. E–

Jovet

Pun intended?

Linda Stricker

I've had very few Es. They definitely didn't include "The Game." They absolutely included this! And "The Alternative Factor."

Rick McCombs

I gave it a C. I don't hate it.

Summer

My comment is that Josh and Alex were great viewers of this episode and talked of it well. If Jeri Taylor had given this to chatgpt it would have said the script violated guidelines but Frakes did well directing. Gates is always good at acting. All the flashing alone would make this a E for me since off the ship I can hardly look at the screen

Rick McCombs

This isn't as bad as another episode coming soon.

Rick McCombs

In fact there are two episodes coming up that are on my bottom five episodes of the series.

Mikaby

It's not like every aspect of this sucked — it wasn't poorly acted, clumsily directed, or anything — but the story sucked, it wasn't a good fit for TNG, and it honestly makes me feel kind of gross. Ranking "Sub Rosa" anything but an F because other episodes screw things up it got right is like saying getting shot isn't so bad, because at least you weren't set on fire. I'm not going to waste time trying to stratify episodes that are godawful. They're all collectively the worst.

Mikaby

I'm not going to say "The Game" is good, but it's not as terrible as everyone seems to think it is.

Mikaby

For a season 1 episode, I honestly don't think "Code of Honor" is particularly bad, assuming you can get past the uncomfortable racial elements (but I feel like that's a question of whether it's acceptable or unacceptable, rather than good or bad).

Herby Ragan

IMO Worst Star Trek episode EVER!!!

Steel Tacos

I actually liked this episode. At least until the villain opened his mouth. lol. Nothing against the actor. He was fine with what he was given. But the writing was horrible once they started down the ghost road. But before that, the scenes of Beverley dealing with loss, talking to Deanna about the journals and dreams, all that was good. If they had stayed there for an hour, throw in some flashbacks of Grandma helping young Beverley, It would have been a good episode.

Deep Red

I genuinely dont know how to rank this episode. Its wild and wacky. But its also kind of boring? I dont know. I feel like I enjoy talking about this episode alot more than I enjoy watching it

Emodramabomb

Gates Mcfadden : S Every other aspect of this pain train : T- We'll just call this an E and move along home. The comments here though are S+, keep them coming fellow nerds!

Streifi

I never agreed with the reputation of this episode as the worst episode of TNG, I can remember way worse episodes. But I also don't love it either, I would probably consider it a mediocre, but okay episode, so a C+ / B- from me.

Jim J

This is an easy E-tier episode. Still not the worst of the season, but it's just not Trek as far as I'm concerned.

George Bratcher

Gold DIgger? Soul Digger! E - for ERASE, never liked this one!

Ian Westcott

Pure C. It's just too ridiculous for it to be an E. It's dumb but marginally entertaining just for how dumb it is. I reserve E for the forgettable, boring episodes. At least this episode dared to be wild.

Dan J Reid

This episode is terrible. But its also a straight up classic. Ask any Trek fan if they remember the one where Beverly fucked a candle ghost and they will. They may not want to, but they will - and for that alone, it gets an S!
