This is one of my absolute least favorite episodes of all the Star Trek series. I cannot stand this woman and her stupid cult.

Man of Mini Tall Ants

Good. That is a good “core response.” Now take off that uniform and you can have this glass of water.

Summer

Hard one to rate, Sisko and Miles are an A, Dax and Kira a B, everything else is D to C, having yet another female cult leader who is eerily worse than even Dukat is E. I gave it a B to be nice and the episode can be thankful for it. I do not include in my ratings my foreknowledge usually of what will happen, but if I did it would not make the episode better except Miles and Sisko, it will never be an S but not the worst episode

Jim J

Dull, boring, and predictable with unlikable guest characters. D-tier at best.

Loot Narsbaar

I think that's part of what makes it good. I wanted her to die.

Not the best episode of the season by any means but still pretty good. You have to respect the balls the show had to send Sisko to the hotbox on 90s tv.

Scott Bennett

The episode that I think is the final piece in defining Sisko's character for the rest of DS9. He comes of of that box hurt and walks back in with dignity, quiet rage and defiance of unearned authority. Also Chief as seasoning is a great flavour any time. A high B for some flawed writing/performance of an on guest lead after the heel turn.

TinMan_7B9

Can't be a bad episode, because the writers succeeded in making me hate that horrible woman. Unfortunately they also succeeded in making me hate Sisko for leaving those poor people behind. B is for Braindead Benjamin! Must still have been a bit foggy after that ordeal in the hotbox.

Raphael Gaytan

Really??? She tells Sisko he can only drink the glass of water AFTER he’s removed his uniform??? And he COMPLIES????? I’m a middle-aged man who’s not even a starship captain and I would have drank the glass of water slowly, locking eyes with her just to piss her off. I get what the writers were going for, but all they accomplished was to pussify Sisko’s character. I doubt Picard or Kirk would have allowed it.

Chris M

Not a fan of this. Its one of many Star trek episodes with a female leader that’s a total B... Its just boring.

Numinous2019

Unfortunately episode length was the issue here. They stay on that planet because they genuinely found the fundamentals of life that mattered to them. The script can only give a very limited amount of time to try to explain this point of view. So, Joseph, the character we trust most among them, is the one who voices their choice. And I do understand why it might seem like Stockholm Syndrome that determines their decision. Despite being tricked, lied to, manipulated and coerced into this situation, they ultimately connected at a deeper level to each other and to their environment.

Dennis Hall

The worst part of the episode was that everyone decided to stay. Sure there are going to be some true believers, but it's really hard to believe that not even one person decided "screw this, I'm out." Especially after the deception was revealed.
