Just FYI Otto Binder is the writer who co-created Supergirl and Tom King wrote the Supergirl miniseries “Woman of Tomorrow” that inspired the film. It’s nice they’re getting credit on IMDB

Looking further I see Al Plastino who looks to be the other creator also is credited. I’m sure it’s a legal thing.

About this trailer, its fine but it seems to be a movie without purpose or any artistry. The song is great, so listen to Blondie albums and she had many great songs. This kind of has no reason to exist, and seems very typical of super hero movies in the 2020s: there will be quips, there will be attitude, there will be CGI. The Batman film from a couple of years back might have been slow going at times but at least it had a vision. This one has nothing, its like Thor 6 or Black Adam 3. These films seem to be where originality goes to die.

Target Audience

In terms of artistry I think the trailer looked well directed, but on the whole I agree any superhero movie that comes out now is an uphill battle. As far as a reason to exist… nothing has a reason to exist, every movie is a product to make money, but I’m being pedantic.

I agree with Ken. Seems like it should be a fun ride. Same way i felt about the latest Gunn Superman. It's pretty shallow, but it was a fun popcorn flick. I'm admittedly not fan of Superman as a character, or the DC comics outside of Batman (who I am a massive fan of). I'm a bit worried about DCU Batman if this is the angle they're taking with their universe. I hope "The Batman" series can operate on it's own independently from the greater DCU.

Target Audience

I believe Gunn has confirmed The Batman will continue as its own thing not in the DCU and they will have their own Batman. Things can change of course.

I heard that too, but cynical me thinks studio pressure won't allow two Batmans (men?) at the same time since it might confuse a modern 2025 audience why there's two people playing the same character.

It's a teaser trailer. It's supposed to be vague on details. Does it look pretty? Yeah. Does the lead actress have rizz? Sure. That's what a teaser trailer needs to establish and so it's a mission accomplished from me, dog. "Will the movie have a deeper meaning" is not what teaser trailers are for.

Have to agree with Ally on this one. Decent hook to get me to get me interested in seeing the film. You better bet there are going to be purists out there losing their damn minds because Krypto peed on the newspaper with an article about Superman visible. 100% there will be a bunch of hooey discussed on that one. I thought they did a decent job presenting Supergirl as a cynical character. Its certainly a departure from the original character from the comics, but lets see where it goes. Had a Guardians of the Galaxy feel to it for me.

Exactly. It felt like GoTG, Suicide Squad and a bunch of other movies. It's generic to the extreme at this point. For me this falls under "wait for HBO"

I'm definitely interested in seeing this, though the trailer didn't wow me. Going to be interesting to see if the Gunn DCU survives whatever ultimately ends up happening with Warner Bros.

The eternal struggle with Supergirl is how do you make her different that Superman? I didn't like that the Supergirl TV show made her a reporter like Clark. For me, the hook is her seeing the truth in people. I'll watch it for sure.
