Full watchalong coming Thursday (Target Demographic & Bridge Crew Patrons get 1-day early access)

I had a ton of fun making trailers for these first 12 episodes of the season as well as Star Trek: Generations and our return episode of The X-Files. Now that we are getting back to posting the reactions on YouTube this week, and I currently edit everything on this channel myself, a trailer for every single episode is unlikely moving forward. There will definitely be one for the Voyager premiere, and then after that I will go back to making them when I feel inspired to do so, and also have the time. I am thankful for all the love these have gotten here on Patreon. I know these aren't why you're here, and they aren't professional quality or anything, so getting all of your nice comments on them has been unexpected, but appreciated. I created a collection here on Patreon so you can watch any of them easily. Enjoy! - Josh

The Ninth Doctor

A powerful, sobering story - that's as relatable now as it was 30 years ago. Great trailer, for a truly great episode.

Summer

We will miss the trailers but understand, will be interested to see your thoughts on this one. And these are better than professional

jon bolton

Welcome to the year 2024😂

Todd

It's crazy we come off Generations and get a DS9 two-parter and extended Voyager premiere.

David Kirk

I beg to differ! These trailers have been very professional looking! Very interested to see your reaction to this two parter.

Robert Fogarty

Wow that trailer is awesome. As are the episodes

Actuarial Lurker

DS9 atones for the Warp 5 speed limit with a TOS style social commentary issue that doesn't seem preachy...just damn good writing and damn good acting. An Easy S Tier

Narnman

Oh but these are far better trailers than we ever got from the so called professionals in the 90s

Holodeck Prompt Engineer

Man good thing that version of reality is pure science fiction, right? RIGHT?

Jack Molitor

Would expect nothing less than the most epic trailer from the most epic episode. Can’t wait to see what you guys think.

TinMan_7B9

Incredible! Your trailers make these old episodes look like movie releases! (But what's up with the sandpaper filter in the last couple of trailers? Some scenes almost look like a 1995 animated gif.)

Groovybaboon

Woohoo! Almost enjoy the trailers as much as the reactions! So good!

Sir, This is A Quark's.

Yeah, but this was set a year and a half ago... so... we're much better now. Right?

Harry Broos

I guess this is the result of The Eugenics Wars of the mid 1990s

Phenomenon (Doo - Dooo - Dah - Doo - Doo)

I can honestly see these trailers convincing people who see them on YouTube to give DS9 a try. I still know Trek "fans" who refused to watch it back in the 90s for the dumbest reasons and still haven't watched to this day. If these trailers of yours convinces even one person to reconsider, then the world is a slightly better place for it

Scarpad’s Domain

This episode has issues mostly some poor guest stars especially that main baddie, and it probably should have been 1 episode. That being said its theme is pure trek and its heart is in its right place. DS9 doesn’t adress race too often I can think of maybe 4 episodes. It does here but in a low key way.

Gavin Hewitt

Who'd have thought back then, the world is probably in a bleaker place now than they imagined, great trailer!

Drake

seems they were just off a few years

SetsunaYuki

The future year of 2024! *looks at calendar*

Jon Miller

"Not professional quality..." Nope, these are way better.

Sam Langanke

Past Tense made Sisko Sisko. The Street Cred - and being a great father figure - sets him apart from Kirk and Picard distinctively.

Collin Freeman

Proving that truth is stranger than fiction ... but not by much.

Doctor Pulaski

Amazing Trailer! This channel has become an embarrassment of riches. Can’t imagine a better reaction channel on Patreon, Star Trek or not.

Doctor Pulaski

This episode was widely discussed in 2024, the obvious comparisons with homeless population on the west coast, etc… but in Jan 2026 it is somehow 10x more sobering given recent events…

Miranda

Hey now, your trailers are at least as good as the original ones in the 90s, and honestly usually better. This one sure is. Thanks so much for doing these. Understandable that you'll now need that time for YouTube edits. it'll be fun to see which ones get the trailers moving forward.

Keith S

I've got to keep remembering that when this aired. 2024 was 30 years in the future.

Admiral Paxillus

It was dolly the sheep that sparked it off. I remember it well. I don’t remember the launch of the Botany Bay or the invention of chrio-sleep. Odd that they mothballed all that fancy tech. *cryo

Cranky Grandma

I remember when Kahn was from the 1990s which was 30 years ahead of classic trek. I think the ds9 episode was a tad more…um…prophetic. Still trek u isn’t our u. A bit parallel though.

Cranky Grandma

Definitely better than the ones we got!

Ryan

DS9 episodes that are more topical now than when they were released? Get used to that. Nice to have another trailer that’s so much better than the official one we actually got.

sword bard

100%. I only kept a YouTube subscription for the sake of TA, and I only joined Patreon for them too, because I knew I could not justify only seeing abridged versions of Season 3 DS9 onward.

sword bard

Going straight from "Fascination" to "Past Tense" is the sort of thing I truly love about Trek. You genuinely never know what the writers are about to smash into your brain next but you know you won't be soon getting it out again.

Carl Williams

Calling it early they like Fascination more than Past Tense - you heard it here first!

CRS

Josh, you seem to have a great eye for zeroing in on themes, tone, and tempo in a way that is entertaining and artistic. I'm glad you are enjoying the well-deserved praise. What do you edit on, Premiere?

Dan J Reid

Oh...this one! For me, this was the episode where DS9 truly found itself. It was different, it was bold, it was powerful. This was the story where Sisko went from ok lead to right up there with Patrick Stewart. And to top it all off, it feels damned prophetic that the writers chose to set it in 2024. Yes, it was relevant at the time it was written, too. But damn, did they frame its future location near-perfect!

Doctor Pulaski

Agree, but they still like both at least B level in guessing… this is like a 12 episode streak if so.

Miranda

Star Trek really excels at this. One episode can be a dark episode on a social theme, and then WHAM! The next one will be some deeply absurd comedy. Or, at least, an attempt at comedy.

reactive1

The “Past Tense” two-parter were the first episodes aired in 1995.

Loot Narsbaar

I think the Warp 5 limit has been forgotten by this point. No mention in DS9 or Generations, plenty of high warping.

Philbot

As timely as ever. 🤦

Back Flip Bet

My head Canon after star Trek caught up to the eugenics wars I moved them to 2030s and ww3 to 2070s

Back Flip Bet

You can use high warp in emergencies

Brendon Waldron

Wow, thank god that prediction of the 2020s was way off, right? Right? Oh no.....

Target Audience

These trailers are made with CapCut. I hear Premiere is much better, but I’m too lazy for the learning curve

Actuarial Lurker

I was referring to being "on the nose" with an example

Echo Moon

I absolutely love this episode(s). When DS9 gets off the station, especially when they are on Earth, the show just has something magical happen. The actors seem to perk up and really get into their roles. Can't wait to see y'alls reaction for this one. :)

Numinous2019

What is so odd about TOS stating specific periods for Kahn ( and a couple of other elements ) is TOS never stated when its own time period was. Roddenberry deliberately avoided that, which was a wise choice. Meyer provided the century in TWOK.

Cory Paton

Interestingly, the Voyager technical manual suggests that the variable geometry pylons for the warp nacelles help to prevent damage to subspace. My head canon is that they soon after found a way to prevent this damage even without the VGPs and made the changes to older ships and all new ones from that point.

Darren

Seriously impressed with each of these trailers. Keep em coming. Looking forward to Voyager ones too hopefully

Framps

I was hoping Alex was going to start milking his new trailer cashcow

CRS

LOL To be honest, I didn't know CapCut was so versatile.

Zenlike Creature

Super two-part episode. Glad they were miles off with their predictions, though... Look forward to hearing your thoughts on this, guys. And another super trailer too!

Ian Westcott

Gosh golly can you guys ever make exciting trailers. Are you parlaying this into a career?

Evan Guthrie

Can we all agree to keep modern day politics out of this and enjoy the show?

Deliximus

They are that far off?

Summer

So when I watched these two for the 15th time a bit more than a month ago I realized how fatherly Sisko was being of Bashir, it flows casually enough to just be character, a superior officer and a young one, but I almost wonder if Bashir here was actually initially supposed to be Jake, sadly I forgot this thought before making a patreon take but in the Fascinations reaction you guys mentioning Sisko being a great dad reminded me

Trey Urbach

Modern day politics has always been part of Star Trek.

Evan Guthrie

Yeah yeah yeah I've heard it a million times before. But the best episodes are never the ones to hamfist contemporary social problems (See: Force of Nature). Trying to spin this episode in that way degrades it. It's a cautionary tale about compassion and listening, not a lecture about real-life equivalents.

Jayne Fleming

Damn that gave me chills! And also whiplash because as an original watcher in the 90s that date seemed so far away and that future felt so dystopian. And here we are.

Miranda

Ira Behr said he wrote this after seeing tourists on LA beaches walk by homeless people and act like they weren't there. as in, a real-life experience

Fire and Bloodwine

I remember this episode was a turning point for Sisko's badassery.

JoeCensored

Is this the best trailer so far?

Martin Bohnet

Watched that with my best friend on the day it "happened". Who would have thought back in the 90s...

Lozman73

Wow ... great Trailer...., Yikes! - Timely much ? ahem ( ICE )

Loot Narsbaar

Well there's also no way the Defiant is getting from Bajor to Earth and back in any kind of timely matter at warp 5. Unless going to a fancy dinner is now an emergency .

Actuarial Lurker

I was referring to atoning for how "woke" the Warp 5r limit was and how stupid it made the episode seem as a result...while they managed to make this episode "socially conscious" without preaching...I wasn't talking about the actual Warp 5 speed limit....I agree that the new ships like Voyager changed their warp field tech to avoid the problems.

Starquake

Just couldn't help yourself eh?

Banes

That was phenomenal man. Damn, you're good at this. Goosebumps!

J-Ro

Wow, that was great. Dig the copy and the stop-down moment with the admin. lady. Storytelling on point!

Somethingaboutthat .DarkNightDS

The thing I love about DS9 2 parters, we may have never gotten movies like TNG, instead we got made for TV movies which were great for rewatches. Rewatched this last year, had forgotten about it taking place in 2024. When you hear the year, your heart sinks. They got so much about our present time right that the things they got wrong don’t seem to matter. The episodes are elevated by being so on point.

Numinous2019

I agree, because modern politics is built on reactivity and divisiveness. We can avoid specifics and comment on underlying issues addressed in the episodes. These are usually unrelated to any specific time or country.

Kt B

Fantastic trailer!

Rick McCombs

I thought we was going to see your reaction to this episode on YouTube today or yesterday. I guess it'll be available soon.
