LonghillAndy

Can I just sleep for 6 days and wake up on the 9th to watch this? Ok thanks 😂

mistabaka

DS9 is the best Trek. Voyager is the most fun.

Summer

Can’t wait

Laura Thornley

Get ready for a wild ride. This was the Trek that I first watched as it aired in the mid-late 90's, every week along with my mother. Its got a special place in my heart (and hers) for that reason.

Paul

We're going home gents... very far away.

Mark Plemmons

You should never name a ship after an abstract concept unless you want to tempt fate.

Gavin Hewitt

No spoilers needed please, but how did they know the direction to go???

Tuomas Leone

Interested to follow you guys along on this one. Of all the series, Voyager was the one that held my interest the least. It's been a number of years since my last watch, let's see how it goes when going along the Voyage with you guys.

Sam Langanke

Maybe the most epic trailer so far? Looks damned good.

Pixels At Dawn

I was already excited. Stop it you guys 😂

THE Fans

Well. Guys. If your expectations are similar to the ones you had for seasons 1 and 2 of TNG and DS9... you shouldn't be disappointed. Just my opinion... but i think they rummaged through the tossed story options of the previous Treks, and did the best they could. In any case, you guys seem to love the stuff the fans have low opinions about so we'll see.

Dylan Bottom

One of the best theme songs in the franchise

Todd

Is Alex going to have a new Mommy?

Gavin Hewitt

Jesus, they will never get home!

Thomas Cole

Well, my days of not really caring for Voyager are certainly coming to a middle.

Pixels At Dawn

Second star on the right and straight on till morning

Thomas Cole

My loathing for the character of Neelix is fathomless, he is an awful, awful character. I have no issues with Ethan Phillips acting, or as an actor though. And Kes was so bland she made Styrofoam look appealing.

Naglfarius

True. Voyager never had the glow up after the first 2 Seasons in Qualitiy. BUT the first 2 Seasons were stronger than DS9 and TNG.

Robert

I'm pretty sure you'll like Voyager. May you have an exciting journey!

Naglfarius

Really happy to enter the Phase where we switch between DS9 and Voyager. I love DS9, but too much treats all the Time is not good for your Stomache. ^^

John M.

This is better than the actual trailer, no lie.

Naglfarius

True. second best. the best is yet to come. :)

Brendon Waldron

I like what you did at 1:21 with hits. I see you.

Holly Davis

Seriously, enough teasing!!! Can't wait to start this with you guys, it's gonna be awesome.

Naglfarius

Funny, in my first watch i liked Neelix. Kes on the other Hand sits from all the Main cast so far on the very Bottom.

Collin Freeman

Good cast, good pilot episode. Probably my least favorite of the Berman-era Star Trek shows, but I'll try and give it a go with the TA.

Naglfarius

They just take care.

SierraNicole

Maybe this is controversial but, of the original Treks, I think Voyager has the best pilot. It's really well done as an introduction to the characters and story.

James Johnson

Are there any pre-voyager discussions coming up like you did for ds9? Blind-listen to the intro etc?

V G (Zay)

O captain my captain!

SierraNicole

I've always really liked Neelix as a character. I think he adds a lot to the story, has some great character plot points, and Ethan Phillips does a great job with him. Like whether you enjoy his character or not, I think as a part of Voyager, he's a rich character that was needed for the show. For me, it's kind of like Quark. I hated Quark...but I think he was a good character for the show. Except, I genuinely enjoy Neelix. I love his enthusiasm and naivety. I also really like Kes. I agree she's a tad vanilla but not every character can be a hugely dynamic personality. I think it's rare in a show to have a character whose main trait is kindness. Kindness is a core value of mine, so I really appreciated that. Plus, her species is so interesting, I'm glad they were introduced to the Trek Universe. And she served as a good second to Neelix and the Doctor who both need a more temperate personality to balance them out. Anyway, long story short, I love what Neelix and Kes bring to the show and the story. :)

River Acheron

A voyage they most certainly will get. :)

James Johnson

Mega-happy dance! So excited for you guys starting Voy!

River Acheron

Star Trek's Jar-Jar. I hate him too.

SierraNicole

I thought Voyager just got better and better. They kept bringing in new characters that added a lot to the show and there was a lot of character growth, and there was a lot of NEW stuff that we hadn't seen before. I think voyager has some of the best villains. Like the enemies they face make Alpha Quadrant enemies look tame by comparison. And the technology they gained throughout was cool too. They kept innovating and adding to the Trek Universe because of the nature of their circumstance. We got a lot of cool tech out of Voyager.

JimmerVision

Not gonna lie, this trailer goes hard. Ironic, because it's making Voyager seem way more epic than it is! xD

JimmerVision

Personally, I think Enterprise has the best Pilot. Everyone says DS9 does, and Emissary is good. Maybe it's because I remembe distinctly watching Enterprises' pilot when it first aired.

Thomas Cole

My issues with Neelix would get into spoilers, so won't go into them, but I think the best way to put it is his concept is great, his execution painfully flawed, and he's kinda a dick. Kes is fine, in the same way plain white bread is fine. But the Ocompa make no sense as a species, they have all these weird traits, when put together, as SFDebris pointed out, would only make sense for a genetically engineered Slave race. But enjoy the Voyager ride, if it is your thing, props to you. Just expect to see lots of "Neelix is a shithead posts" from me :)

Joshua Gudiso

Did you get any rest? Take it easy, Josh😴🛌

David Kirk

He is totally Jar-Jar.

David Kirk

The technobabble was way over the top though.

Dante Hopkins

"My friends, we've come home..."

Ryan

Another banger of a trailer. You guys already know so much more than you did a few days ago. I’m super excited for this jour… voyage.

Dante Hopkins

I was going to comment this exactly 🖖

David Kirk

Fantastic trailer. Way better than what was done when it first came out. Hollywood is calling you Josh!

Naglfarius

yeah i also liked the Enterprise Pilot!

Matthew Ganz

The voyager of 70,000 light years, begins with a single episode. I think you're going to love this show (after the obligatory 2 seasons at the start that are terrible --- just kidding :) )

SierraNicole

Ah, I actually didn't like Enterprise as a whole so I think my perception of the pilot has probably been colored by that. I never really fell in love with any of the characters (besides Porthos) so when I rewatched the series, the pilot didn't hit. I can't remember if it did the first time through but I was pretty young...

Joshua Gudiso

How will you be alert for Voyager episode 3 tonight?☕️🫩 Hopefully, you get a break this weekend🤞

Erik L Jerks

Tom Paris is probably going to the biggest anti-pop. Especially after Ensign Sito was brought back, it's very confusing to bring back another actor from that episode to play essentially the same character with some tweaks.

Billy T. Riker

You may hear people say" The third season is where *this* show gets good" on every Trek show since The Next Generation, but I think THIS is where Star Trek franchise finally starts getting good... 😉🖖 It's the third iteration of a live-action Trek show, debuting on Paramount's brand-new UPN channel in it's very own premiere primetime slot. The passing of the baton from TOS to TNG in Generations, both DS9 & VOY are in full swing... the best is yet to come!

Who North America

In my head cannon, it's the same character. He just changed his name at one point because he was sick of being known as "that admiral's son." Do you think someone's mom actually named their kid "Snoop Dog?"

William Roberts

"Didn't they warn you about Ferengi at the academy?" Tom and Harry is one of the best things about the show, I really hope you enjoy it. It has its ups and downs like any other Trek, but I think overall its a fun story and Janeway is a great captain, worthy to stand with Kirk, Picard, and Sisko.

Jack Molitor

Neelix…remember that name. Actually, don’t…

Zenlike Creature

You see, on paper the premise is good, but... well, let's give you a few seasons and see what your thoughts are. It's a hot topic in our household. My wife loves this series, second only to TNG for her (she's not a fan of DS9 - divorce territory lolz). Me, (out of the 80s/90s series) it's third (DS9. TNG, VOY). There are some great episodes and storylines though. That said, I look forward to watching along with you two and seeing if you can give me a fresh perspective and appreciation. It has been a while since I've watched it.

Lozman73

Oh Wow !! I might actually be looking forward to this more than the Artemis II Launch ! ;p

Dr. Paul Stubbs

🖖 Mr. Paris, set a course... for home. That's the right line!

John M.

I'm more in the, "In the fourth season this show becomes serviceable!" camp, but like others still looking forward to see what the guys think.

John Rose

Would you two guys be interested in Ai HD upscales of Voyager? I have them for both DS9 and Voyager. They're not overdone just enough to make them watchable versus the original DVD quality. Up to you, just wanted to offer, if you wanted it we could figure out a way to get them to you and I do believe they sync with the DVD.

Avaria

Hey guys, welcome to the Delta. If you find time for it, you might want to check out a good, old school Kathryn Hepburn movie like The African Queen, Lion in Winter, or Guess Who's Coming to Dinner. Kate Mulgrew has a Very similar vibe.

penoyer79

getting pretty good at these trailers

Summer

I wish to say to our beloved moderators, thank you for your work, I know you may not sleep for awhile

L J

I think Voyager started stronger than any other series did in the first couple of seasons and it just kept getting steadily better as the series progressed. It didn't have a moment of "this is where it starts getting good like the other series did... it just was good from the beginning. Does it have its flaws? Of course. There are elements to Voyager that really annoy me. But that doesn't mean it isn't good Star Trek. And perhaps "good" looks different for different people. For DS9 fans, good is dark moods, conflict, grey area, and serialized stories. Voyager is a different good. But it is still good.

SierraNicole

I tend to forgive any of his dick-ish tendencies as a product of the environment he existed in before Voyager. Like it was hostile and you had to be very possessive and selfish. So I don't fault him for any of that stuff. So you can be the "Neelix is a shithead" viewer and I'll be the "no but he's actually justified..." viewer. haha

Brer

Ds9 fanboys are very tiring in these comments and seem determined to negatively bias you against this show for some reason, i wasn't in the comments of emissary going on about how uninteresting and disappointing I found ds9 to end up being, yet so many feel the need to do that about voyager, mostly it seems from people who haven't even tried watching the show since the 90s, give it a rest would you? Btw Kate mulgrew is far and away a much better actor than Avery brooks... BY FAR

SierraNicole

@LJ I totally agree. Different tastes. Objectively, they both make for good Star Trek. I personally am not a fan of DS9. It was a little slow and the characters felt dull and I thought it was way overly religious/spiritual for a Trek series. And really until too far into the series, I didn't think there was a likable character in the bunch. On the flip side, Voyage had a lot of great characters--a lot of really different people from different backgrounds with different stories and values. And the stories were more exciting and fresh. I studied moral philosophy in college and used episodes of Voyager several times in my bioethics class as examples of ethical dilemma. And between Janeway & B'Elana, they had such a positive influence on me as a little girl. I get annoyed a little because people tend to make out like Voyager is more low brow because it is more accessible but I thought it got more to the heart of what Star Trek was to me--a series about adventure, exploration, diplomacy, and discovery. DS9 felt a little day time soap opera to me. I hope they just ignore the haters and approach it with an open mind. I might be a little heart-broken if they don't like it...

L J

Neelix may have his annoying, irritating quirks, but he doesn't come close to the level of Jar-Jar!!! Jar-Jar brings nothing to the table and is painfully annoying on purpose Neelix has good comical moments when it's not overdone and he can actually be quite endearing. Look at the whole picture.

L J

Better take out that comment about a certain character showing up in DS9... But other than that I agree with your take here. I had a hard time warming up to all of the characters in DS9. But I actually really liked the way they approached the religious aspect. I thought they balanced it quite well and it added a lot to the show, especially since it was an area where the other series really didn't explore. Religion was shown as both positive and negative, which is pretty balanced coming from Hollywood.

Purple

I grew up watching this show more than any of the others and always loved it. The best thing about it is probably its variety due to its setting.

The Defiant One

I like Voyager, each month I'd buy two new episodes on VHS at £12.99 a tape. A whole season was pretty expensive back then. I do still prefer DS9 overall, but don't let anyone tell you Voyager is bad because there are times when its up there with the best of any Trek. I think overall the guys will love it but it won't end up being their favourite.

Lloyd Jones

While DS9 is by far my favorite Trek series, I have to admit Voyager had the better pilot. It was better at getting you excited for the journey. I appreciated Emissary a lot more after seeing how DS9 played out, but I still remember it being a little confusing on the first watch. Caretaker was just a better introduction to the show for a first time viewer.

Worf and Riker Ride Again

I'm sure I read before that there were legal implications / royalties involved, they wanted to bring him back but weren't able to. So instead they brought in his doppelganger who basically was different enough to not get sued...

Actuarial Lurker

My take on VOY pilot: Good concept BUT blowing up the Array- B'Elanna was right- who the F was she to keep everyone from returning. They SHOULD have had the Array pull in a Cardassian ship too- have a battle between Voyager and The Maquis on one side and the Cardis on the other with the Cardassians blowing up the Array as an F you like Khan setting off the Genesis device. You would then have "street cred" for Janeway being in command of the Maquis without her breaking the Prime Directive etc. It would also show that 70,000 ly away the Cardassian would be at war with the Federation since they think they can get away with it.. ....... Neelix= Jar Jar Binks of Star Trek Kes at age 2 of 9 year lifespan is "barely legal" (2/9) x 80 "rounds up" to 18 and (2/9) of 130, since McCoy and others live to that age, would be around age 29. She looks underage. Is Neelix in the Epstein files? This creeped me out then and still does now... the actor Ethan Phillips playing Neelix is great- he was in the TV series Benson and was the judge in Better Call Saul episode Coushatta where Jimmy gets the whole congregation to try to save Huell. A very good actor with really creepy writing ........ The hillbillies on the farm was weird. The crew skewered like the victims of the real Vlad the Impaler Dracula was edgy for Star Trek. ........... Hello- Water is Hydrogen plus Oxygen- there is hYdrogen in space and they are breathing Oxygen, so if they are Warp capable why can't the Kazon "make water". They look like cyberpunk wannabe Klingons... Nice to see a strong female Captain and engineer in B'Elanna The Holographic Doctor- brilliant way to make a Data like character who is kind of human So A idea, screwed up the array plotline, S tier effects, C level writing

Actuarial Lurker

See my comment above as a DS9 fanboy who thought Emissary was crappy and this pilot was great until it broke down but still was the best pilot

Doctor Pulaski

Please state the nature of the medical emergency.

Actuarial Lurker

In our household my wife has DS9 = VOY > ENT> TNG >>TOS since she thinks the 1960s women were portrayed as bimbos in short skirts. She loves the female captain and thinks DS9 had best writing and acting. I rate DS9> ENT>TNG>VOY>TOS, i HATE the WRITING on Voyager, we both like ENT for reasons to be divulged later, I think DS9 has the best writing in all of Trek matched by actors to pull it off

Doctor Pulaski

As a Ds9 fangirl who also enjoys Voyager, I think you might want to relax. Caretaker is indeed a better pilot than Emissary. Mulgrew and Brooks are both great, but in a crunch I'd choose Avery. (Don't worry, it's not crunchtime yet). At the end of the day, many of us find DS9 to be the more satisfying show, but it does not mean you are wrong for preferring Voyager or that Voyager isn't also great in its own right.

Doctor Pulaski

Tom Paris is a much better character. So what, they are similar, hundreds of thousands of people go through Starfleet. The world would feel kind of small if it was connected to TNG that way, especially after already getting Sito as you said. Locarno was a little too irredeemable, Paris has less of the yuck factor in his bad boy energy.

Kaleigh

Your use of music from the opera “Don Giovani” is way more appropriate than you know! 😊

Phenomenon (Doo - Dooo - Dah - Doo - Doo)

Josh was "getting good at these trailers" by his second or third one. Now they're consistently exceptional... except when he used "The Final Countdown" as background music. That needed a Mulligan

Actuarial Lurker

Especially since its Don Giovanni where Don Juan and "the Plot" both go to hell by the end... I kid. I kid....

Joe J

I connected so well with the TNG crew, much less so with DS9 and Voyager. That's really what it comes down to.

Joe J

I found DS9 and Voyager about equally mediocre, same for Brooks and Mulgrew as actors.

Vexx

I am interested to see what you guys think about this series. Ive tried to do a couple rewatches in the past without much success. Hopefully this will change all that!! Great trailer

Strekonline.com

...and a certain Voyager character reference.

Strekonline.com

I also think Enterprise's premiere was slightly better. But "Caretaker" is slightly better than "Emissary." It's like each series premiere got better than the last (until Discovery that is).

Daniel Walker

Brilliant trailer, bit of a rough series but there are some really good episodes once it’s gets going. I was never the biggest fan of the first 2 seasons but picks up after that .

Zenlike Creature

She's a keeper :) I'm looking forward to hearing Josh and Alex's thoughts on the writing. I have quite a bit to say on the matter but I'm keeping my powder dry. I want them to enjoy the show the same way I did when it aired.

River Acheron

@Thomas SFDebris' hatred of Neelix is legendary. That hedgehog. lol. I may have to rewatch all his Voyager reviews before getting into this series again lol. It'll put me in a better mood. :P funfact: Did you know SFDebris was a part of Channel Awesome for a brief period before all the drama and mass-exodus? He kept to himself though. He didn't get involved in any of Doug's awful movies or collaborations.

Crewman #6

The question. Does he ever stop calling her Ma'am? Oh. And how many times did you guys cheer at getting your requests fulfilled in the opener for the next series :D

Elizabeth N

Awesome trailer! So excited for this show!

Strekonline.com

Neelix and Kes are so cringy! She's basically a teenager. They should have played it more like he's a father figure to Kes. And, yes, that water desperation subplot makes no sense for a warp-capable species. Comets, moons, planets… water is everywhere.

Strekonline.com

This is the peak era of Trek and the best is yet to come!

BusterB

Amazing trailers guys but would be epic if after "The Next Chapter, for Target Audience" you spliced in your best reactions shots from each Star Trek series , TOS to DS9

Doctor Pulaski

I'd bet my beet farm that they would not want this on a first time watch. They are going for the authentic experience we all had. They would not risk something being changed too much. On a rewatch they might be down... but that is a long time from now.

Doctor Pulaski

Voyager is the first series since TOS to break the "The show gets good in season 3" meme. Like TOS, it's just all over the place. And you can't really get more Star Trek than TOS, so I'm fine with that. Also like TOS, some of its strongest episodes are in Season 1.

SierraNicole

Genuinely. I hope they don't keep it up. Nerds can be some of the absolute worst critics. Just let the reactors have their own experience.

SierraNicole

Thanks--didn't realize they hadn't finished DS9. Haven't been watching along with them. To the religion point, I just really couldn't get behind the idea that there were space-faring, warp capable, rational beings who believed in divinity--especially enough to center their lives around it. So, while I appreciated some of the discussion, just on its face it seemed so unrealistic. Plus, I grew up in a small rural town that was super Christian and Star Trek: TNG had really pushed me to question the church and its teachings. Even today, I credit Star Trek for my pro-secular values and atheism. So maybe there was a little resentment there to see Star Trek and the Federation sullied with sudden piety and superstition. It just felt inherently non-Trek to me.

reactive1

Seasons 1 & 2 definitely have their rough spots like those seasons in TNG did, but there are some great episodes as well IMO.

penoyer79

granted i've only seen a few of these

Strekonline.com

You'll see a lot of comparisons made between DS9 and Voyager. DS9 definitely garners more praise generally but it's not overwhelmingly higher rated as a whole. On IMDB, DS9 has an 8.1 and Voyager 7.9. That's practically a tie. I think it's more that DS9's highs are just a little bit higher than Voyager's highs rather than it is an indication of the average quality between the two shows. Both are great.

Katie Jackson

TNG, Voyager & Enterprise are my Favorite. I appreciate the original series but never connected to it, it was my mom's Star Trek. I do love the movies though(mostly😄) as for Deep Space Nine, I love the characters but the tone was always too dark to have that same Star Trek "Comfort" feel. Plus the long form storytelling makes it harder to enjoy random episodes on rewatch. Still a fantastic series, just not my favorite. That being said, I think you'll enjoy Voyager, especially once you get a little ways in to the series.

penoyer79

Fun fact. The producers liked Robert Duncan McNeil's performance so much in The First Duty, they wanted him to reprise the character in Voyager. However the writers decided that what LoCarno did was so egrigious and irredeemable that they felt there was no way in hell he would ever be allowed back in starfleet. So they created a similar role for McNeil in Tom Paris.

Evan Guthrie

It just occurred to me that this episode is a lot like lower decks in that all these characters are kind of nobodys in starfleet and we get a whole show focused on them

Paul Hess

You make the premier seem watchable! Voyager has some amazingly great episodes but IMHO this isn't one of them.

Actuarial Lurker

SierraNicole- I'm a second Tier Patron because I DO want to see how they react! I've watched both DS9 and VOY probably 9-11 times each (not in full watch through mode, just watching 3 or 4 episodes here or there at a time). I don't hate VOY I just think catering to the UPN mass audience runs a risk of being too "safe" . What I like about VOY are the empowerment of women on the show AND a Captain who has to face moral dilemmas on HER own- there is NO support system and she has to be a true leader. A LOT of the hate for VOY in the 1990s was frankly misogyny and I'm not down with that at all...

Actuarial Lurker

Agreed- they are not afraid to buck popularity and wind up liking Neelix more than O'Brian...though I doubt it...

brian

Let's fucking go!!

Eric Wilson

Yeah a couple crap seasons but I want to see how they react to realizing they are trapped voyaging home which is why it's voyager.

Eric Wilson

The lowest low is in voyager too though. Lol

Paul Hess

Yes sir, Ma'am sir. (like Radar in M*A*S*H)

M.A. Moreno

Based on their response to some of the truly dreadful episodes in TNG's final season, I wouldn't be surprised if these guys did a heel turn and actually praised the lowest low of Voyager.

M.A. Moreno

I hate Neelix so much that I'd take the DISCO characters over him. I might even take the PIC characters over him.

Shibster

I feel like they could use your AI HD upscales for these Cinematic Trailers, after their first watch reaction videos ofc. HD would make these trailers more "cinematic".

John Rose

Just want them to have the option.

Philbot

I think it’s a strong pilot maybe the strongest? I love the Emisary, but play 20 questions with the prophets just brings everything to a screeching halt.

Philbot

I heard that they liked him so much they wanted someone like him. So why not him? But the character of Nick would have meant royalties to the writer of First Duty.

David Kirk

No way they'll like the overwhelming amount of technobabble in Voyager. It's the one thing besides Neelix that turned me off.

Some Guy

Twenty questions? What is this?

Sunny

I’m excited. There’s a fair amount of episodes in voyager that I tend to skip over on rewatches in my rush to get to the episodes I like the most so I’m looking forward to getting a fresh look at some I probably only saw once 🤩

Summer

Everyone a spoiler is ANYTHING that wouldn’t have been known when Voyaher first aired

Joe J

After TNG, all the shows are a bumpy slide down the hill, lol.

Joe J

Not a spoiler! Kate Mulgrew was a mediocre actress before Voyager, lol.

Deliximus

More than a couple but there are a few gems in there

Deliximus

They ran out of ideas, that's why. Or just the group of writers weren't up to snuff, OR interference from up top

Deliximus

The pilot for voyager was better than Emissary for sure. Voyager had such a great premise

Deliximus

We are a kindred spirit except that my wife couldn't stand Voyager.

GreenCauldron08

AWESOME trailer! Really captures the hype I had for Voyager when I watched the pilot the first time!

Siva

Nice trailer. DS9 and VOY complement each other well. Good you are watching both at the same time. If TOS is the grandpa and TNG is the dad then DS9 is the older brother and VOY is the younger sister. Not sure which one you will like better but I think it is perfectly okay for everyone to have their favorites. Its all subjective. No need to fan war over this stuff.

giuseppe scigliano

As eye rolling as Trek was sometimes with political correctness, it was nice seeing them do the opposite in this pilot with Janeway not liking to be called sir ( because she’s not a man ) ma’am is “ok” , but she prefers captain!

James Johnson

Great reaction, but it seemed like entire scenes were reordered between the DVD release you were watching, and the UK paramount+ release. Not just that it didnt sync up, but entire scenes in different places. Very odd! Great reaction though, and looking forward to more Voyager!
