"Do they still steal our Cleveland Browns" took me out. 😁 And yes, they probably do. I try hard not to be spoilery, but you've got more to hope for than the season has shown you so far. It's taking them a while to pull the plot threads together, but they get there.

I'm afraid to say anything... uhhh... I know! Can't wait for more episodes! Whew. I figure that's safe!

Back in town tomorrow to watch this bad boy! Can't wait

Worf and Riker Ride Again

Yeah, it’s really hard to say anything without spoiling something so I’m going to keep quiet…

I think it's interesting the general sense of a show, how it feels, when one switches between episodic vs fully serialized. In hindsight on a rewatch, every episode feels awesome because I know what it's building towards. Otherwise, you're still in that construction phase so there isn't too much there yet. Great character moments with Amos!

I'm always surprised how many people seem to miss (or not bring up) the very horrible nature of Amos' backstory. Granted it's an easy to miss detail with the line, "When the johns didn't want you anymore, they made you muscle".

The Baltimore stuff is some of the stronger stuff in the whole series.

You guys get uninvested so easily. Mind you, if my career was literally watching videos every day, I'd probably get pickier…?

Yeah, it was crazy the way Charles dropped the line about the Johns and Amos's childhood of forced prostitution and...the guys didn't even blink. Like they didn't even hear it. I was sitting there waiting for some kind of reaction to that devastating lore drop...not even an eye twitch lol.

And it's breadcrumbed so well in S1 with the seemingly throwaway testosterone fueled blokeyness of Amos taking the bunk on Tycho in the brothel. It wasn't for sex. It was for a sense of home and maybe an opportunity to protect a sex worker and wail on a John.

Considering how they struggled to get the budget to impact the location stuff on Ilus in S4 these 2 Amos on Earth episodes so far are amazing stuff.

Alex is definitely the Princess and the pea. 100 soft matresses of high quality Amos backstory, (the amazing subtle Lydia stuff, The Eric stuff he liked, the old guy, YET still he is so irritated by Monica being silent in a box that he Gowron eyes in shock at Josh's suggestion they just saw some brilliant top drawer Expanse. Try to take the good and assume the drier stuff is there for a good structural pay off later pal, but don't go changing! It's very entertaining.

Side question for the Exp fans. I always assumed, given the whole thing of The Expanse so deeply references Don Quixote, that Lydia is named as a reference to the character in The Fisher King, another Quixote retrofit. Am I reaching there or is there anything to back that?

When Emily Babbidge flicked her contact at Alex on Mars, you guys noted, "That's something we do need." but "Could be dangerous". We're just behind on tech on our continent, and held by the big smartphone companies' lack of imagination. I lived in Japan for a while, and the first cellphone I got there (2007, just before the Iphone launched) had an embedded debit tap card (for train fares but also worked in any stores in a train station), and an infra-red port. You could meet someone, hold your IR port facing theirs for 2-3 seconds, and it would transit your contact profiles to each other. You could also limit what it sent (nickname only, only phone number, could include email, address, links, etc), and many had covers or an off mode so people couldn't just slide up and transit to or from yours. Made meeting people (and dating) much easier, and I feel like we have gone backwards in technology since then...

The thing said about when characters that you like aren't on-screen, the show becomes more tedious to watch is exactly how I felt about Game of Thrones.

When I lived in Australia in 2011-2013, I noticed the same thing. At least in regard to things like tap to pay with a card or phone. Those things were pretty much unheard of in the States but were used pretty much 100% there. I'm not even sure if the US had chips in cards at that point yet. The standard was still the swipe. ATMs were better there 12 years ago then they are in the US even today.

Amos "I'm not here to take anything that belongs to you..........except your booze, gimme that" Bit of a slow burn episode, but that's fine with the amount of Amos lore it dropped. Every other story was just a few extra breadcrumbs, but nothing substantial. I love how Holden was ready to brush off helping Monica, then he hears protomolecule again, and drops the irritated "Goddammit". Bro keeps trying to escape, and they keep pulling him back in.

because it wasn't a reveal? i think Josh and Alex both noticed this in S3 or S2 from some dialogue
