You guys did better with this style of musical adaptation than I would have guessed. Well done, folks! I knew when I saw this on the roster that it was going to be an interesting reaction. Just to clarify a bit more on the history - everything that was shown or stated in this musical was 100% legit something that was passed off as serious in the 1936 original film AND the anti-weed drug publications championed by William Randolph Hearst. Including the worship of the demon lord Moloch. Moloch has just very recently returned to international headlines with the publication of the Epstein Files and the recent re-discovery of the cult known as the Frankists, because Epstein himself was a Frankist. It was the Frankist cult that provided the final bit of anti-Semitic "reasons"/straw that broke the racist camel's back in Poland in the early 20th century and got the Jews kicked out of Poland. I"ll let you google "Frankists" but all of the allegations in the Epstein files for "Satanic Rituals" including the worship of the same demon lord Moloch depicted in the Weed Orgy number here were actually documented Frankist cult rituals. It beggars belief from rational folks, and I consider myself to be rational, so I still can't believe I'm taking what sounds like conspiracy theory BS as true, but it is indeed in the files and confirmed by survivors and victims, so maybe this film might one day be re-classified as a Documentary. But again, I thought you both enjoyed it far more than I expected. And you seemed to enjoy it for the most part, aside from Josh unconsciously yawning every time a new musical number came up (LOL, no worries man, I grew up a Broadway Gay Theater Kid, and I get it -- not for everyone, no harm no foul, thanks for being willing to watch musicals in the first place, can't ask for more).
