Collin Freeman

I enjoyed your little James Sloyan pop.

Tim Nikiforovs

He doesn't show up often. Who knows when they'll see him again.

Collin Freeman

I agree, this one is towards the bottom for the season. I have a special place in my heart for people who have learning disabilities or are in someway delayed or disabled. I have to say, the actor playing Roland did a good job playing someone who is moderately intellectually disabled. After the film Rainman, autism went through one of those sort of weird periods in Hollywood; for years afterwards, we had variations of that theme running through a number of TV shows. I find the use of the word here to be overused and unnecessary.

I am just torn by this ep. Not the story or anything about that. The acting. Some is really good and some is really bad. I think IMO doing this kind of topic must have good acting or it seems way .... "off"... And that is this ep. The bad acting making this cringe while the good acting makes this really good. Torn

Looking forward to the next episode.....of Voyager.

This episode never really impressed me, but part of it was that I didn’t see it until the end of season three in repeat I didn’t realize it was a season one episode at the time, but I still didn’t really like it. I thought it was too slow and I thought the premise was weak. But overall, I thought the performances were pretty good.

I spent the episode pretending they were trying to hit Mach 15 so they could get to Nelvana III, where the Romulans were for 100% sure building a base. Otherwise, not much to report here.

Loot Narsbaar

You know if they had OSHA in the 20th century that guy wouldn't have been turned into raspberry jam

Scribe31oz

I just watched 3 hours of TA content, with an antipasto platter in my favourite chair. Thanks for a great start to my vacation guys!

I can see why you don't vibe with it but I really like this episode for some reason. Super keen for next ep!

Zenlike Creature

Not much to say. Filler episode... However, one thing did creep me out a little and that was Alex's stare as you rounded out the video, Josh. ;)

Tim Nikiforovs

Pretty mid overall, but always great to see Sloyan. However I too have always found his saying "yes" as he pulls the gun out unintentionally hilarious. I also didn't buy that he was even trying to hold on to that grate in the wind tunnel. Though if I were going to be murdered, getting sucked into a jet engine isn't a bad way to go. It's over before your brain can even process what's happening. Much rather that than having my face dunked in nitrogen. And I remember keyboards in the 90s. Not metal, but they were built somewhat bulkier. Nowhere near enough to knock someone out with them though.

MrDeadstu

"Mom, Alex is staring at me again!" 56:54 Seriously, decent episode, more investigation than usual, it almost seems like an early episode kicked to the end of the season. I am really looking forward to next weeks episode and so are you....

MrDeadstu

Ha, I noticed that too and actually mentioned it in my post. Creepy Alex is creepy.

Summer

I have never watched the X Files but have decided to watch with you

Ca$hWednesday

Mid episode. I actually agree with Josh where I though the mentally challenged acting could have been quite cringe, but i thought it was done as respectfully as possible. Good one coming up though.

HS

What do you think of it so far?

HS

Roland and Tracy made a cute couple, I was rooting for them.

Scarpad’s Domain

This one was just dull, Zeiko Ivanik got tons of work after this even thou he disregarded Robert Downey JR’s warning that you never go full …..

Summer

Still prefer Trek but so far its ok

Forbidden Donut

I'd forgotten about this one, but now here I am, once again, just feeling really bad for Roland and Tracy. :(

Mel Schleming

I did notice that as well, hadn't planned on saying anything but as long as someone else did first, I feel less guilty about it X3 "looking right at someone" works better face to face than "looking right at the camera", can make people uncomfortable, but can be VERY effective when that's the intent (that Silence of the Lambs sequence) the smile reminded me of the sequence from BBC's Sherlock "actually I'm a high-functioning sociopath... with your number" *grin* ^^ (all this said lovingly, never stop being you guys)

Mel Schleming

I personally remember this one fondly, but maybe that's just because I remember most of Season 1 fondly, and I've just revisited ALL of them a lot. But yeah, objectively speaking I could see it being "filler", nothing special, just standard baseline XF, which for me is still pretty good :) on the sound design front, re that liquid nitrogen scene, some special commentary on the DVD's talked about the glass shattering sounds and the crunch, they had a LOT of fun with that, as you could imagine! I think they'd intended for it to be a bit cartoony/comical, to diffuse a bit of the horror of what was going on.

Mel Schleming

On the music front, Mark Snow had talked about wanting to do "orchestral" stuff from the outset, but early on Chris Carter told him he wanted "moody synths". While I like both, I think Carter was right - the synths might sound "dated" today, but they're the most memorable for me, a time capsule of the era. Over time Snow started to very gradually sneak more orchestral stuff in, and that became the sound of the later music. There are still some memorable themes in that genre, and Roland's theme is one of the early greats, beautiful melancholy piano, I've played that theme at local open mics a couple times :)

Skye Maidstone

I don't mind this one. It's interesting enough but obviously not top tier X-Files. C for me.

Loot Narsbaar

This is one of the most memorable teasers imo. I agree with most both your criticisms, just not as harshly.
