Always reminded me of Fargo from Temu but it's actually good on a second watch

JoeMama47

I assume you guys watched the RLM ranking of Sam Raimi movies recently.

Sir, This is A Quark's.

I always liked this one but haven't watched it since it came out. I saw it before the Treasure Of The Seirra Madre, but yeah, it's unapologically dark and hitchcockian in it's execution. Cool pick. [EDIT] Oh, Sam Raimi... now I get it. Even cooler.

JoeMama47

I'm sure Raimi was emulating the Coens, but people often don't realize that they were friends and collaborators. In fact, Raimi directed a small portion of the Hudsucker Proxy.

Colby

There are few stories which leave everyone worse off at the end. It's almost a modern Macbeth.

Scarpad’s Domain

Such a great movie perhaps Sam Raimi’s best and he has directed some great movies

Steven Johnson

Nahhh. I requrested this one straight after they did their Crimson Tide reaction, but by that point there were so many films in the backlog that it just took this long to get to it!

Steven Johnson

Thanks again for watching this one, guys!

Steven Johnson

I wish I could get more channels to check it out, honestly.

StonyD

I always forget this is Raimi. He really is an under-appreciated director these days.

Back Flip Bet

And RLM is reviewing Ds9 and Voyager now 🤣

Chris Nunnally

I love Sam Raimi's "The Gift" from 2000, a southern Gothic supernatural horror/thriller that was co-written by Billy Bob Thornton!

i know Ben Stiller was attached to direct this and did a bunch of work on it but dropped out because he didn't like the budget he was being offered. Sam Raimi picked it up as he was looking to do a character based movie at the time. Bridget Fonda retired from acting to focus on family.

penoyer79

a great against-type role for Keanu in that one. One False Move is another good one. Billy Bob's first writing credit. He also plays the villain in that... and Bill Paxton is the lead. They were close friends.

Mark Simonson

I last saw this when it was in theaters and thought it was great. A string of coincidences and bad choices that just keeps ratcheting them deeper and deeper into their nightmare.

Badmiral Burgess

My first time seeing this with you guys. Very good movie! Def wasn’t expecting how it played out. I would NOT have burned the money. Using cash is not so easy to trace I think! Just go to strip clubs, restaurants and bars lol

This is on 4K, I have it on 4K such a great movie, this was the third time watching this one. I love this movie. showed my parents this one and they also loved it. Billy Bob is great in this movie. Sam Raimi best in my option. I love showing this one to family and friends, since most never heard of it.

Gary Lewis

Josh, Bridget Fonda Mary Danny Elfman had the child and then was in a very severe car accident which she had major plastic surgery. She’s gained a lot of weight. She doesn’t even look like she did when she was acting, but the two of them fell manly in love when they met, and with the money, she inherited from her father‘s estate and her grandfather‘s estate she really didn’t need to act, but she’s been in some great movies that you guys haven’t watched on your channel, but after the accident she her weight went crazy. She’s overweight. She doesn’t look anything like she did. I mean it’s not that she couldn’t get her figure back or make herself look younger cause she really looks aged today, but that’s what happened to her, but between her grandfather’s money and her father’s money she really never had a problem, but she is a third generation actor in that family, and she was quite good until the car accident and until she married Danny Elfman

Collin Freeman

Good choice, Steven. I don't think I've seen it since it was in the theater.

Collin Freeman

If I remember correctly, Sam Raimi came into this film after the original director quit or was fired. Some of the scenes with Billy Bob Thornton made me think they were improved, like when he's talking with Bill Paxton in the truck or when they were around the table at dinner.

Mosquito_Wenzi

I also hated If I Had Legs I’d Kick You. Love to hear you agree with me

Mosquito_Wenzi

Those bills would be found when they get to the bank. Then if a bunch show up in the same area, they’ll know where someone’s been throwing around a bunch of hundreds. And he would be the main suspect since he found the plane

Mosquito_Wenzi

This is a great movie, but I found just as frustrating to watch as I did the first time 28 years ago. So many terrible decisions. The end almost feels satisfying after he got so many people killed. But the longest statute of limitations for theft is 10 years, then they would’ve been free & clear
