The legend of Kirk's green shirt is that he came back from season 1 hiatus with a little extra weight around the middle. The green shirt was to minimize/hide it.

David Soul (Hutch from the original Starsky & Hutch) plays the other native who learns how to kiss from the native girl. This episode has a lot of Star Trek TOS tropes: the paper mache serpent god, the dead redshirts, Scotty not able to get enough power from the engines, the whole "what is love" motif, etc. Yet, it is still all done fairly well. Next up: my favorite episode of season 2 and my 4th favorite episode of all - "Doomsday Machine".

NBC were getting letters from the bible belt community who thought Spock looked "Satanic", the end dialog directly ridiculed this notion. Just an easter egg I thought you would enjoy.

Target Audience

Just a heads up this video got copyright claimed by CBS so we had to reupload. That is why this link no longer works, but the episode is public now on our channel.
