One of the differences between TNG and TOS, besides a huge budget and far less censorship, is character centric episodes for ALL cast members. TOS, regardless if it’s TV or movies, will always focus on the “big three” as a rule.

Chuck Rice

Ohhh, so it's SLOW because they're old. I get it now!

Yeah this wasn't one of my favorites but in retrospect watching it again with your reaction its actually an ok episode thats different. No spoilers but the next episode is a very special beloved episode for most people in Star Trek fandom. I look forward to it.

That actor was Landru!? Wow, I thought you were gonna mention an old movie or another TV series. I know of several recurring actors in Star Trek, but never connected that one in all these years of reruns!

Brad Barter

Incidentally the voice of the main computer is played by Gene Roddenberry's wife Majel Barrett Roddenberry who played Number One in The Cage/Menagerie as well as Nurse Chapel. She will later return as a more modern sounding computer voice in later seasons of Next Gen, Deep Space 9 and Voyager. She will also play another character on TNG and DS9 but we will wait to allow her to reveal who she is there herself when we catch up with those shows.

Robert Bloch, who wrote this episode also wrote Hitchcock's Psycho. The series had a numbler of well known science fiction writers like Theodore Sturgeon, Richard Matheson and Harlan Ellison.
