the show changes and evolves over time. Some of the people really change over time also. At some points it campy and at other times it gets very dark. The first year is very campy. I like it. Some hate it. They give the bad guy away early on this one because the glory of this episode is not about that. This is a more humorous episode. Lot's of jokes.

Ice Tea is in Law and Order SVU.

As we watch through the season either the show is getting much funnier or we are getting more in touch with the humor. Not sure which it is but we just watched the funniest episode yet the other day

There are some funny episodes. About Sunnydale and the high school. You kind of have to go with the idea that all of this crazy stuff is happening and yet no one is freaking out or doing anything about it. They make fun of that fact and give some kind of reasons why that is so later in the series. If you get too bogged down in how incredibly unrealistic that is then you will miss how good the series is.

This is one of the lowest ranked episode of the entire show.

That, and if you get really bogged down by the unrealistic in TV, what are you doing watching a supernatural fantasy show about vampires and demons, et al? So much better to just suspend disbelief and go along for the ride.

oof...season 1 is rough man. The cheesiness is kinda charming in hindsight, but this ep is always a skip for me. I'm glad y'all had fun with it though.

Buffy is one of those shows where people (including me) sing its praises but that is usually based on season 2 and beyond. Season 1 is rough. You compared Buffy to Firefly after the pilot and said how different Firefly was just a few years later, it's not that different though, it's actually very similar to Buffy in story structure, the style of dialog etc., it's just not similar to season 1 of Buffy where they were still figuring out what worked and what didn't.
