The Scooby Doo comparison was seen back then. The fans started calling the kids in the show the Scooby gang and the writers put that in a few times. The Six Feet Under pilot would be a great making my friend watch segment and it has a Buffy connection too. Totally agree the love triangle stuff in the early episodes is annoying.

In an earlier episode they said that basically when you become a vampire your body is taken over by a pre-existing demon, who acquires your memories but isn't "you" anymore. The crazy guy in this episode is sort of an exception to that rule because he's like the same crazy guy, only with vampire powers. In the last few years of the show, that eventually becomes more the rule than the exception. Not really a spoiler, just a sort of observation.

This episode is a little slow for me. But the whole boyfriend thing makes it okay. I like Xander and Willow a lot. Angel becomes much more interesting. He is a little of a slow burn.
