KIGA kengen Part 17introduces “Gorohmaru,” the fifth son of the “Sakatorii Oni Brothers.”

The design concept is “The Oni”.

The design is inspired by traditional folktales and the character of the oni itself.

In addition, “childlike innocence” was also part of the concept.

Since this character appears in the latter half of the scenario, I don’t think the details of the plot had been finalized yet…

He appears as an Oni from “Sakatorii,” but rather than being hostile, he acts alongside Zenki as a kind of younger brother figure.

However, Gorohmaru has a secret identity.

This is Gorohmaru’s true form.

The design concept is “Ushitora”—a visual representation of “The Oni” that takes a different approach from his disguised form.

Based on the ukiyo-e print 五拾三次之内猫之怪, the design features many oni gathering together to form the figure of “The Monster Oni.”

I don’t usually draw monster-like creatures, so I really enjoyed designing this.

I don’t remember the exact details, but Gorohmaru is an “aggregate” of oni, and is usually sealed within a black ring.

I believe the backstory was that, while he has no malicious intent, once the seal is broken, he can no longer suppress his destructive impulses and becomes uncontrollable…

This scene depicts Zenki stepping up to stop Gorohmaru, who has been unsealed when the time came and has become a being with no way back.

鬼畫顕現その１７は「逆鳥居の兄弟鬼」たちの五男坊、「互郎丸」を紹介します。

デザインのコンセプトは「ザ・鬼」。

昔話の童話や鬼のキャラクターそのものといったデザインです。

加えて「幼さ」もコンセプトでした。

シナリオ後半に登場するキャラなので、展開の詳細がまだ固まっていなかったと思うのですが……

「逆鳥居」の鬼として登場するも、敵対はしていない鬼として行動を共にし前鬼の弟分のような存在になります。

しかし、互郎丸には隠れた正体が。

互郎丸の真の姿です。

デザインコンセプトは「丑寅」、仮の姿とは違うアプローチでの「ザ・鬼」を表現したビジュアルです。

「五拾三次之内猫之怪」という浮世絵を元にしたデザインで、多くの鬼たちが寄り集まって「化物の鬼」の姿を構築しています。

モンスター然としたものは普段描かないので、デザインする時はすごく楽しかったです。

正確には覚えていないのですが互郎丸は「集合体」の鬼であり、普段は黒い輪でそれらを封印しています。

当人に悪意はないのですが、封印を解除されてしまうと破壊衝動を抑えられなくなり制御不可能になってしまう……という設定だったと思います。

来たるべき時に封印を解除され、後戻りできない存在と化してしまった互郎丸を止めるため前鬼が立ち向かうという展開のシーンです。
