How can I stop drinking alcohol? How do I say no if someone offers me a drink? Why is it so hard to stop drinking alcohol, especially in social situations? This is a topic I wanted to talk about for a while now. I don't have an unhealthy relationship with alcohol, I can drink when I feel like drinking and stop when I feel like stopping. So it's easy for me to control my alcohol because my happiness or actions don't depend on it. I understand that is very difficult for some, especially have alcohol addiction in my family. I don't have a problem being around alcohol, what I do have a problem with is people shaming or pressuring others to drink when, they simply don't want to or feel like it! I don't think this is something we talk about enough because its more of the "norm" to drink, and causally have a drink, and casually hang out at the bar and have a drink. And as soon as you're that person who orders a non alcoholic beverage at a bar or event, you're weird, or something must be wrong and people question you. so, that being said, people, PLEASE stop shaming or making it a big deal if someone says no to a drink, it's OK. They are fine.
