Chapter 32 - Die. (Patreon)

POV: Rui
After hiding for a while, I managed to hear a loud noise, as if someone had punched a wall. And that was exactly what it was, because I heard the group leader's voice.
“Shit!” he shouted.
Then I heard him say,
“Not only did those sons of bitches die like idiots, but the other two escaped too! Trash, trash, trash!” He was furious. I felt like laughing, but I held myself back so I wouldn't be discovered.
Fortunately, this guy doesn't seem to have very sharp senses.
He's much more rested than I am. My mana has been drained, and I can't use my Boost skill anymore.
This guy is probably Level Two. I think I can kill him, but I'd better be careful.
Then I started hearing footsteps.
The footsteps grew closer and closer, and I held my breath.
That's when it happened.
*WHOOSH!*
The man's sword slashed straight into the hole where I was hiding. I used my own sword to block his.
“Found you!” he shouted.
Tsk!
I clicked my tongue, then used my sword to push his blade away. Slowly, I crawled out of my hiding place. Now, in the middle of the dungeon corridor, we stood face-to-face.
Unlike me, exhausted and breathing heavily, the man looked completely calm.
He didn't seem to have exerted himself at all.
“What is it? You look nervous.”
“Nervous? Not at all. I'm just thinking about the best way to kill you.”
“I've already lost my patience with you. You keep running around and hiding like a rat. It pisses me off. Cowards piss me off.”
“And ugly men like you piss me off,” I said, mocking him. It was an incredibly childish insult, but it hit a nerve.
“What? Are you jealous of me or something? Because I'm really handsome.”
I smiled at the man and raised my sword.
“Come on. I know you're dying to cut my head off with that sword of yours. Go ahead... try it.”
“You're just trying to piss me off so you can run away again. You're going to pull the same trick.”
“Run away? It's just the two of us now. There's no reason to.” After saying that, I charged at the man with every last bit of strength I had left. In an instant, I was right in front of him.
He flinched and jumped backward, but I didn't stop advancing or swinging my sword.
He could keep up with my movements, but I didn't care.
I kept pressing him, and he kept stepping backward, unsure of what to do. I'm using every last drop of strength left in my body. I'll reach my limit soon. I have to finish this quickly.
The man realized he was about to be cornered and began to worry, but I didn't give him a single opening.
I kept attacking every part of his body. He couldn't block every strike. Cuts began appearing on his arms and legs.
He's weak. Weaker than I thought.
Still, his vital points remained untouched.
Then, at last, he was cornered.
He tried to kick me, but I didn't let him. I grabbed his leg with one hand and then tried to drive my sword into his stomach. He managed to block my blade with his own before trying to punch me.
I let go of his leg.
And my sword.
The man thought I had given up.
But then I started.
Before he could move away from the wall that had him trapped, I began throwing punches.
A lot of punches.
He raised his sword—which wasn't very durable—to shield himself, but I didn't care. I kept slamming my fists into his blade and every part of his body I could reach.
Seconds later, cracks spread across his sword, and the man coughed up blood.
But I didn't stop.
*BOOM!*
*BOOM!*
*BOOM!*
My punches grew heavier and heavier. Each one was like an explosion. Every ounce of strength I had left went into them.
Crack!
Then his sword shattered.
The instant it broke, the man's eyes went wide.
He couldn't move.
There was nowhere to run.
It was as if I were a minotaur, and he was a Level One adventurer.
Every punch I landed felt as though he had been struck in the chest and stomach by a massive sledgehammer.
I could hear every one of his bones breaking, one after another, all throughout his body.
I could hear his broken bones piercing his organs.
I could also hear his internal organs bursting under the force of my punches.
When I finally stopped punching, the man's limp body collapsed to the ground.
If he hadn't been wearing somewhat durable armor, my fists would have punched straight through his body.
I looked at the blood splattered everywhere and said,
“I think I'm going to throw up.”
I started feeling a little dizzy, and then I heard several sounds.
I looked behind me and saw a group of War Shadows, probably drawn by the grotesque noises I had just made.
I struggled to my feet and thought,
'I have to get out of here as fast as possible.'
But after walking only a few meters, I realized I wouldn't be able to escape those monsters.
They're fast.
And I can't run.
'No way... I'm really going to die this soon.'
I smiled bitterly.
I shouldn't have gone so overboard with those punches.
“Huff...”
I let out a sigh and raised my fists.
“At least I'll die fighting.”
But then, someone suddenly appeared.
Every War Shadow was reduced to nothing in a matter of seconds.
